Dynamic Clothing
in The Commons
Hi:
I own several DAZ 3D Dynamic Clothing objects, but cannot apply them properly to a stand-alone single frame character. Is this application even possible and, if so, how do you apply it in DAZ 4.9? Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
P.S.: I tried to find information in this forum under the Search command, but the result did not reveal anything related to my question.

If you are using them on a figure they weren't made for, or if they are not sutiable for the auto-rigger (very long trailing elements) then animated drape may be unavoidable. It doesn't need to be a realistic aniamtion, just go from thezero pose (or a pose that fits inside the clothing) to the desired pose.
What is the exact problem, the clothing not draping, not fitting the pose or something else.
Here is my workflow, load the figure, get them all setup before posing. Load the dynamic clothing and position it on the figure where needed. Now increae the animation timeline to half the way. Now pose your figure. Go back to the start of the animation, select the dynamic clothing and then open the dynamic clothing pane (window>pane>dynamic clothing). make sure the dynamic clothing is selected, change any collision objects if needed, then start the drape, but select the animated, not single frame option. Once it is done and you are happy with the fit, select the small box, upper right hand corner of the dynamic pane and freeze simluation.
If the clothing is too big for your figure, then after you pose the figure, also scale the figure up a bit and you will get a better fit.
If your figures doesn't start in the T-pose, then what you can do is export the figure pose as a preset, and then apply that preset to the clothing. Tweak scale to fall on the figure. Drape first at frame 1, then animate.
Steps to applying the dynamic clothing.
• Open dynamic clothing panel.
• Apply the clothing to the figure. (float it over the figure)
• Select the clothing in the scene.
• Choose single frame or drape through animation.
• Press Drape. (the clothing will unfold and then simulate an actual draping.).. you can scale the clothing to make it fit different ways. Experiment with what looks best.
• To make sure the clothing stays in place when you open the file back up, select freeze simulation from the options panel.
