Comic Creator Darwyn Cooke passed away this morning. He's been my favourite artist/writer for the last decade or so, and I regret never having had a chance to work with him. He will be missed.

I just saw that myself. It's distressing, because I was just made aware of his battling cancer only a couple of days ago. He will be missed.
It was pretty fast. First I got a notice he was battling cancer and like the next day I got the notice he had passed. WOW... R.I.P. Darwin! Your brilliance will be missed...
Yeah, it was a double shock for me; my wife read the CBC news that he'd entered palliative care and when I went to look for information an hour later I'd found out that he'd passed.
His comic "New Frontier" is one of my all-time favourites; he managed to include pretty much every 20th century DC hero from my childhood, and managed to do it without lampooning anyone. The only fault the movie version had was that it wasn't longer. Being able to use all of these 50s and 60s characters in one story, and with such love and respect was/is inspiring.
Above all, he managed to make everything so much darn fun. Every time I read his stuff, I feel like a kid again (a feat that's getting harder and harder to achieve).
