The lack of quasi-ethnic clothing (like Mei Lin, Monique, etc) is just odd. I don't expect accuracy. But more beach wear? I don't get it. I would rather have a tourist-y Hula outfit than another bikini. At least Mei Lin's fantasy stuff was inspired by Asian design. What is up with that fantasy outfit in the Kalea bundle?! Kalea's bundles are not very good IMO, and detract from a nice figure and that one cool hair in the starter bundle. The bundles just don't make sense.

Maybe it's because people keep complaining about stereotypical themed items being with other ethnic characters that they thought they better tread carefully this time, so we get bikinis instead.

That pretty much covers it. PA's (who are the ones who do all the products for those bundles) are far less willing to do ethnic anything because then they run the risk of negativity about their work and by extensions themselves.

I know I've critcized the themes for non-white characters, but I do think the PAs mean well when they create these things. If anything else, the blame -for lack of a better word- should be laid at Daz's feet, because I belive  they're the ones that pick the items to put in these bundles... though I admit I'm not 100% sure how it all works (I suspect they either commission or ask that these items be made for these bundles?). So it kinda reflects poorly on them for, say, shoving nearly all Voodoo and Tribal items with Monique 6 (even Darius got contemporary items); to say nothing of Mei Lin and Lee from the 6th gen.

No, the bundles are based on PA submissions.

This is only my opinion, but... As long as your work doesn't violate the TOS, it's "good enough" to upload to your gallery. And if other people like it, whether they leave a comment or just click on the Thumbs Up icon, it helps to get a little feedback from time to time.

Who knows, you might get a surprise and find your image made it to the most popular position across the top of the page. (It's a pretty heady feeling!)

The gallery is filled with a lot of content from different skill levels.  I would have no fear of uploading content to the gallery. It is a nice way to see how one progresses artistically.

@ carina_ea3751e3a5: I understand you quite well; sometimes I feel shy, too. Look at all the wonderful pictures in this forum (yours included) ...

  • Thanks for the advice! smiley There are so many talented people here at the forums, so I hesitated to upload my renders, as I am a beginner at DAZ and doesn't really know what I am doing, especially when it comes to lighting , I always use premade lightsets.

But I will upload some of my renders from now on, it's nice to get feedback, and perhaps some advice about what I am doing wrong in some cases.

We were all beginners once, and there's absolutely no shame in it.  Just have fun, feed your muse, and in no time your skills will broaden and improve with practice and learning. :)

I must be the only one then that loved the Voodoo stuff of Monique and Darius, and I'm Black American from the south. I thought it was great fantasy stuff and I just don't take things so seriously. But that's just my opinion.

  • Thanks for your comments, Lady Morana and AngelReaper1972! smiley It makes me more confident to post my renders, and I'm sure it helps other new users too who reads the thread.

Ah, yes, one fly in the ointment, has anyone tried to pose ms. Kalea while she is wearing the full Shameless Rogue outfit? Now I own a nice peice of kit (980TI i5820 32Gb Ram, that sort of machine)....posing in iRay is possible (just) but with Shameless Rogue even my machine starts showing me the (Angry) bird (in textured mode). So what the heck i thought and looked at Shameless Rogue's setting, nothing wrong (Subsurf mod, check, normal on 1). So i decided to check lit wireframe view, now normally you see a wireframe but not with Shameless Rogue, it's a smooth white surface, even on closer inspection. Anything went wrong during export?

Of course there is a workaround, pose Kalea in situ (not that dangerous while Kimo isn't around :-)) and dress her later. But come on, a bit of vertex discipline and a bit of normal mapping never hurt anyone!

Other solution, drop the boots, which are the main culprits as it seams!

    No problemo ((c) Alf),

Personally I use software build in Clermont Ferand (Substance Painter) snd that can build neat normal maps....using a high poly (Blender sculpt mode) to a low poly (my vertex puling) and that wel sometimes gets messy as well, deleting the low poly in a bout of virtual insanity ((c) Jay Kay)......

BTW, the guarnment looks to die for!

hadn't looked at that outfit shameless rogue I like it looks a lot like some outfits I've seen in a few movies and tv shows including boots with high heels like that, just tried it works for me but I have had some problems lately setting some things up moving lights camera characters objects and manually posing with locking up stalling controls unresponsive prbably having too much in a scene maybe I'm planning on getting a new computer though just trying to work out specifics what the best can get to do this been talking on here a lot about the new cards and such my current main computer is

    Aspire V17 Nitro
    I7-4710HQ 25 GHz with Turbo boost 3.5GHz
Nvidia Geforce GTX 850M with 4 GB Dedicated VRAM
    16 GB DDR3 L Memory
    1000 GB HDD

I was watching Smay's YouTube video's about the new tactical products and notice that that one could see the little icon for Kimo 7 in the figure list. The body looks stocky and muscular which will be a welcome addition to the body shapes.  The Ivan 7 icon was blank.

Wow, nice spot there. Kimo looks a bit stouter built than say the Lee figure below. I'm curious what he'll look like now.

Ivan looks as if he has veins package of some sort - which hopefully is included in the base.
