Hexagon 2.5

Will Hexagon 2.5 work in DS 4.9 - genesis 2 figures?

It doesn't work "in" DS, but yes the Bridge should be able to send those files to Hexagon from DS and vice versa (at least on Windows, I have seem comments that on some Macs the return trip isn't working).

..there are a couple a tricks to make it more stable.

One is to make it Large Address Aware. Since Hexagon is a 32 bit programme it is normally limited to 2 GB of memory even when working on a 64 bit system. Making it Large Address Aware allows it to access up to 4 GB depending on the programme.

Another one I learned of is to change  it's compatibility (you can do this by right clicking on the programme icon and then the "compatibility" tab) to Windows XP (Service Pack 2).  This works in Windows 7 and 8.1, not sure if it does in 10.

    Greetings,

On the Mac I regularly use Hex's smoothing brush to fix morph issues, and the round-trip works.  I don't know if it'll specifically work with Genesis 2 characters, but I move clothes back and forth all the time.

I'm not terribly good at it (which is why I bought the Hexagon tute today) but I've fixed some really awful distortions, for example a t-shirt for G3F but fit to Skyler.  I sometimes wish there were an easy way to share morphs, user-to-users, so folks could create a library of morph fixes for various character/outfit combinations...

On 10, it's sligjhtly more stable if you use XP Service Pack 3 mode instead of 2. Not sure what MS borked in the compatibility shims for the SP2 setting in 10, but they definitely borked something as I have apps that worked in 7 and 8.1 with the SP2 setting and now refuse to start on 10 unless you change it to use SP3 instead.

There are some tutorials for Hexagon on sale and then one that is a collection. It kind of looks like the individual tutorials are included in the collection. Is that true? Or are they all different?

Yes, the single tutorials are included in the larger collection which has some added content.  Although, I'm not sure there was enough extra content to justify the dramatic increase in price, but that's me.  I own the larger collection, but I got it ages ago really cheap.  I've found tutorials on YouTube that cover the same material just as well as these do.

Tip: if you're bridging to Hex and back set the surfaces to a 3Delight shader before hand, the Iray Uber ones go across invisisble and it's a pain in the rear to set them all back to opaque within Hex.

Thanks @knittingmommy. I started putting them all in my cart and then I thought...these all look like they are in the bundle. They were really cheap, but...

For some reason, whenever I look at your "name", I always think of kittymommy. I always have to say...Wait! that's not correct.
