I saw this and thought "This is what I've been looking for!!!" Threw it in the cart and went to checkout and.... had to take it back out. Iray.... *&#$*@%$*&@#^($^@$(%^....
Did a quick search for something like this for 3Delight and couldn't find anything. Went and cried in the corner for a little while then decided to ask if anyone knew of anything like this for 3Delight? This is so seriously an awesome product... is there any way to get it to work with 3Delight?
Edit: I found this (http://www.daz3d.com/daz-studio-dirt-shaders) but I'm not sure how you would get this to work on buildings...
Have you seen http://www.daz3d.com/daz-studio-dirt-shaders? It is not quite the same thing, but it is a 3Delight dirt shader.
Hah... you posted this as I was looking at that and edited my previous post. Like I added to my other comment, I'm not sure how you could apply that to buildings. it really looks like it's more of a 'corner dirt' kind of thing... but the car example would suggest otherwise. I wish I could see the manual (if there is one) to get a better idea how it works.
I have that product and you can put it on just about anything. I've used it on walls and flooring.
One feature of it is that it reacts to other objects. So, for example, if you have a table on a floor that has the dirt shader, the area near where the table legs meet the floor will have more dirt effect (this is either a good or bad thing, depending on your intent).
I love slapping that dirt shader on robots or whatever... really gives them dimension.

Looking at the sliders in one of the screenshots it seems to have the ability to spread out or select 'how much' dirt there is. How does it look on buildings?
Your tank and 'bot pics look good with it and I'm hoping to be able to use it to 'age' objects. I suppose I could try it out and, if it didn't do what I really hoped for, take advantage of the 30-return policy.
I'm a little confused by what it means where it says "...applying dirt shaders to existing textures and then re-applying the diffuse 'base' map."
Applying dirt shader uses the dirt shader's special diffuse base map. You can then switch it back to what it originally was.
I'll run up an example and put it in a new thread sometime tomorrowish.

These are cool,I bought them the other day based on what I've seen in this thread and am going to dig into them soon. One comment: Carrara had/has some shaders you can buy that figure out the ambient occlusion of a model and use that as a guide to automatically add rust and or grunge. So it basically ends up in the corners, edges, and undersides of things, exactly where you would expect dirt and rust to accumulate but not everywhere. That's something I would love to see done in Iray if it's possible.
That would be an interesting enhancement.

You are making it really hard to resist getting this product!! I love this latest image! The idea of using it to create custom alien skins is possibly the one thing that could tip me over toward actually putting it into my cart versus the wishlist for a little while longer.

Well, I gave in and bought it! Now I have to use it! I have an idea for an alien character I've been trying to shape up for a story. Hopefully, this might help me flesh him out! so to speak!

@Knittingmommy I made this alien skin just for you. It is a combination of two of the full presets in the Touch of Dirt. I put the green alien skin directly on the G2M and the blue alien skin on the dirt shell. Then I applied one of the opacity shapes presets to the shell. I even experimented with the emissive settings in the Touch of Dirt surface settings for the first time. I set the Luminance Amplify to 5 here to make the blue parts kind of glow.
The HDRI used for lighting and background is from Dylan Sisson, licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License.

I'm sold too. Still looking for anything that worked with the geometry like Stonemasons Dirt Shader. THat one was awesome with how it filled the dirt in the crevices.

Would this work on hair, to create an unwashed look?
Here's an image with A Touch of Dirt on the shirt, body, and hair. The second image has the dirt only on the shirt and body, so you can compare the hair with and without dirt. This is kind of a "dirty blond" hair color to start with, so it may not be the best example, but it is the one I have available.
There is so much flexibility with this product; you can change color, opacity, and distribution of the dirt to suit your desired dirtiness.
