Does Kiki work well in DS 4.9? I know she's a bit older, so I was curious whether she works with no problems, just maybe tweaking of her surfaces.

Comments
I got here yesterday so I tried her in 4.9 & she seems to work fine
Its late here so I did not try to get her looking good just added iray shaders & changed a couple of things as she was very pale & hit render
Here she is -
oh that looks good! So she loads and everything perfectly fine? Excellent. :)
Figure and poses seem to work allright, and default textures look fine in iRay but not 3DL. The default hairs don't seem to work in either 3DL or iRay, not sure how to tweak them so I've used Gwenith hair here (has a Kiki fit). No tweaks at all in this render.
Which are the "default" hairs? Do you mean the Hair Pack product? And when you say they don't work in 3dl or iray, do you mean they look terrible, or they simply don't load etc?
I've got hair shaders for iray so wonder if they would work on any of Kiki's hair.
I like the render!
Here's a 3DL with a hair from Hair Pack 1, all default shaders.
The other is the same hair with Slosh' UHT iRay shaders, doesn't seem to work.
Oh eeek. I see what you mean. Hmmm....I may spring for that Gwenith hair then, it's a big ol' $1.49, dunno if i can afford it ha ha.
Thank you!
Actually the Gwenith hair in the DAZ Store doesn't seem to have fits for Kiki, got mine from an addon pack at RDNA. Looks like DAZ will only include RDNA items that works for their own figures. But maybe LittleFox will sell fits for the other figures somewhere else. Otherwise I suppose you can parent it instead.
Teh store page for it says it has fits for Kit, Kiki and the Girl tho.
You're right, the version with Kiki fit was just hidden for me in the store as I'd purchased it at RDNA, so all I saw was the gen3 version. Sorry...
Whew. Thought i was going a little daffy there for a bit. LOL
Quickie in Daz 4.9 - 3DL
Looks like these textures can be used for the Kiki hairs in iRay:
http://www.daz3d.com/dd-sparkle
1. select the hair or hair parts you want to texture under Surfaces
2. apply the UberSurface2 base shader
3. apply a texture from the Sparkle hair
The Sparkle textures are located in the same folder as UberSurface2 ("Shaders" folder).
I made the hair pack hairs work by using the iray wax shader on the hair prop first
After you add the wax you can then add the Slosh hair shaders or any other hair shaders & they seem to work
Not a perfect result but it could be improved with a little tweaking & at least its not the zombie look that it loads with :)
I have the Koshini Hair Pack (which appears to be the same as the kiki one) and they do work in DS (I only use 3DL so that's all I can speak to). But there is a problem with the opacity. There may be other ways to fix it but I usually just go to the opacity (for the entire hair) and change the map to "none" and that fixes it. It does lose some of the fine detail, but I usually add that in post so it works for me. Alternatively, instead of changing it to 'no map', you can open the map in the LIE and click the checkbox that says "invert" and that will switch the black and white of the map. That way you can keep some of the transparency and some of the strand detail without having to add it in post.
They do also take other shaders pretty nicely too. So if you still don't like the look with the maps gone or altered, you still have some other options if you have other hair shaders.
