One thing I wish is that the ground texture better match the backdrop used. Sometimes that background is a beautiful color but the ground plane doesn't blend or is plain gray.

That's where Jen G.'s floor and wall textures come in handy for me.  smiley  I got those at huge savings, when they first came out.

Also, the Infinity Cove helps, when I need Floor and Bkg to be seamless.  I'm sure you already knew that though -- the cove thing.

Have you tried using the plain color textures on the floors?

Yeah, I have used the plain texture, but it looks weird to me. Like the top is all fancy and the floor doesn't match. I think because the floors are all solid. Infinity cove works well, and doesn't have that cognitive dissonance the floor and walls do, but it makes those backgrounds limited to what I can render if I want to show the feet and floor.

Have you tried copying and pasting from the walls to the floor?

  • this is just a test preview did for a larger scene using the render studio iray scenes addon, what I did was add the side light fx subset first then added George

    I like that :)

  • thanks Bea yeah I quite like the light effect is working here on him think it will suite the full scene with extra characters and props without adding other lights, lights I have a lot of problems getting right

I tried it with one texture and they didn't match. It looked odd too. I think with gradiated textures you have to be careful that where they meet they are at the same color.

you could flip it 180 degrees using the layered image editor

    Weird issue number 35!  lol

I changed out one of the lights, that I think was a point light.  I switched it out for a Spot light but I can't get the darned thing to spread out.  Moving the light back, nada.  Increased the cone size, nada.. .all the settings that I could think of... noda.  Still pointed and illuminating her face only.  Weird.  The settings for the light or the render settings, not sure which, are really nice, the face almost looks realistic but yea, want the spot to illuminate her whole body, with perhaps a fall off at her thighs.  Just can't seem to figure out the setting I'm missing!

    crying

Have you tried Light/Spread Angle?  Does that do anything?

Yea, that's another I've tried.  Seems that all my attempts and the render basically shows me NO changes in the light at all.  It's very very strange!

Sure is.  Do you remember which scene it's on?

On two of the scene subsets, a light imported with the eye icon set to off.  Dark Portrait/a rim light 2 and Soft Light FX/a fill light.  I turned the eye icon on, and it made a big difference, especially in the Dark Portrait.

I doubt that's related to your issue though. :-)  If spread angle won't do it, and the morphs for the light won't do it, I am out of ideas.

Just a tease :) Coming soon I hope.

These will render in colour, but there are render settings to make it black and white :)  Colm does brilliant work :)

I think the scenes item is a great addon for this :)

Colm does have a utility to hide mesh lights

Monochrome! That was my favourite add-on from the older Render Studio. Will it do parts in colour like the original? As in lips, or eyes or a bowtie? :)

Render Studio and texture sets make DS a lot of fun. :-)

I don't know that a real Edwardian lady would've been so flamboyant, though.

The Skin scene subset is one of my favorites.

I'm not Colm, but -- I had to get to the pdf by opening the zip file, Wolfie. It's in ReadMe's. :-)

I don't know where it'd be if you installed using Connect, if this installs thru Connect.

*Bea, CJ says he doesn't come to the forums much and you tell him what's going on -- can you ask what the Infinity Cove is intended to be used for?  Is it just for a backdrop, or does it generate some sort of lighting?  Thanks!

I'm back from the gym, errands and lunch.

If Colm releases more and more stuff, he might consider doing a ReadMe>Colm sub folder so his ReadMes and PDF's can be easily found.  Ghahhhhhhhhhh

I manually downloaded the zip and fetched out the PDF and renamed it "Colm's Render Studio iRay User Guide.pdf" for easy finding....

Yesh the readme is in the place that the folks at Daz have put it in. I'm assuming that it's the place that all readme's go..:-)

  • Hey guys

In case you don't already know I have some Render Studio video tutorials up on YouTube that may help a little.

This one is an overview of Render Studio...

And this one is how to set up the specularity light.

There is a new specularity light to download (Link on the YouTube Page). I think it's even much better than the one in Render Studio. If you download it please be so kind as to subscribe to my YouTube Channel..:-)
