I remember reading about this program when I was looking for Photoshop alternatives ages ago; really cool to see it pop up here.

- Software on sale here tends to get forgotten after its introduction if its not being promoted in some way (since the Daz Store for regulars is all about the current promotions and older items on sale in those promotions as well as new arrivals.) I've already seen a bunch of software items arrive and then never heard anything about them again. If they're still selling well, that's great, but it seems like a shame to not keep actively promoting them somehow.

- It's a little confusing that the cover promo image has an Audio Sample meter in it for a purely still image art program. Sure it might have that feature but doesn't it send the wrong message? I thought it was an audio program from looking at just the main image.

Edit: Case in point; I just realised all the older versions are also sold here ... which I didn't know about until now because I've never seen them mentioned anywhere.

There are one or two threads about this software,  for some strange reason the most recent are in the Carrara forum. Some older threads in the Commercial Forum.

It is a pity, that only the Artist version is available.

I prefer to use the full, Howler version of this program and would love to buy an upgrade from 9.5 in Daz shop.

I have bought here at Daz, Howler version 7, 8.2, 9.1 and 9.5 and Pro 5.1b,

because it was a cheaper alternative to the more expensive programs (like a Photoshop).

However, If one sum up the price of each version together, it does not look so cheap any longer.

Here is the link to the website for all of the different programs.

The Carrara forum has a few members that are real howler enthusiasts so that iw why we have a bit more info on it.

Hi, we'll probably have the Howler edition v10 here at Daz too at some point. It takes time to prepare it and we're working on releasing at Steam too.

    Thanks for your support :-)

Admittedly, the audio part can be confusing. It is a new feature though, that the input audio (such as from Mic) can affect the size of some brushes. (Orbicles only for now, it's a start).

So even though the end result is a still image, the process of creating it can involve changes in time. The brush itself, mind you, can also be an animation. Ypu can load a looping walk sequence for example and paint it across the image. That's not new though.
