    You are a bad influence.

Me, bad? It, it was Pam who had to be moderated for being naughty (alright, by herself). I've been all legal and proper. And I did say it was late and there was wine. Now it's all sensible and on topic.

I've got a can't-mention-name-for-legal-reasons "celebrity" related to the Archers.

    That's Ambridge, not Jeffrey.

But I know you're not one bit interested in the Archers. Not one little smidgeon whatsoever...

No it's not like I listen obsessively to the Archers Omnibus every Sunday - indeed I don't even know when it is on.

This PC https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/view/Vortex-GX-230/ confing has choices of i5 or i7 processors, a 4gb nvidia with reasonable power, and with a bit more memory could still come in just under £1000.  Even if you don't use pcspecialist, you can still use them to build up a reasonable expectation of parts costs and what bits work with what other bits.

@marble.. i am not Peter but still following here.....

While this is a fair priced system the Asus Z170M-PLUS Motherboard has only one GPU slot... i would pick a system with minimum 2way sli support. The Asus MAXIMUS VIII GENE Z170 Motherboard (configuration) would offer 2  pci 3.0 slots. Also i recommend that you pick a powersupply with minimum 750 watt... (in 2- 3 years you can get titan x for 300 usd secondhand/refurbished).

@AndtGrimm : As it looks like a mini case, I'm doubting that it would take a pair of GPU cards. Adding your suggestions takes it back over the 1,000 GBP (1,105) but again I suspect I would have to order a different case. I'll keep looking - maybe I'll stumble on a bargain.

Before i would give up on multiple  GPU's  i would go for a cheaper CPU/Plattform....AMD ? your goal are fast iray renders.

Look, it was late and wine had been consumed. Market Rasen (after the mention of Cleethorpes and Mablethorpe) was merely an opportunity to introduce "threesome" to the discussion, given some of Bernie's professional associations. It's the name of the person in connection with allegations of threesomes that is under injunction. You can mention celebrities attending Billy Elliot the Musical all you like.

Apparently, you can talk about this if you're Scottish. It's only England and Wales under, er, moderation.

You sure you not talking about a trifecta?

I have been using and posing Genesis 3 characters the past couple of days and while I haven't had any Guy 7 DAZ Studio crashes but I've have multiple Girl 7 DAZ Studio crashes and today just when I got the pose like I wanted to render before I managed to save it! There was only Girl 7, Sheridan Hair, Toon Generations Basketball Court & Basketball, the Guy 7 Track & Field clothing, & an HRDI Dome in the scene.

Please tell me where to find one... I remember looking for one for my laptop before, but wasn't very successful in finding something something that was basically plug-&-play. frown

I did look at that but it is an expensive option for Macs. There is an external box (google Sonnet) with empty PCIE slots - but it was a pretty expensive empty box.

I've finally ordered a PC with an Skylake i7 and a GTX970. It will be ready in about 2 weeks. Now I need a monitor - any recommendations (looking at around GBP 250 (probably similar in $$).
