Men's Outfits: What's wrong with them?

As an aspiring Published Artist, I am looking for products to make for the DAZ figures we all use, but the complaint about a lack of men's outfits and the inevitable reply bring up a question. What exactly is wrong with what gets produced. Specifically, what things are customers looking fr in such outfits that would improve interest in buying them.

Comments
It seems to be more an issue that there aren't many. I personally don't quite understand as there seems to be plenty across the various genre.
All Men clothing here is very form fitting/ "Slim Fit", That just dont looks right for most mens clothing.
What I really would love whould be suite set with an natural "Regular Fit" fall on all kinds of body types (including George)
Well, one good approach would be more gender neutral outfits, like loose jeans, shirts, sneakers, etc.
Suits are also nice, particularly if there are options to hang stuff loosely to avoid autofit distortion. For example, many of the suits, fit on very muscular or heavy characters, end up VERY oddly distorted, with buttons turned to silly putty. I understand that's a formidable problem, but some clever design or morphs or whatnot would go a long way to making an outfit really useful.
Another neglected area, also potentially gender neutral, are work outfits. There was a 'sexy firewoman' outfit out recently that highlighted the fact that there... are pretty much no actual fireman outfits. Which, properly designed, work on men or women.
Same with police uniforms, etc.
A lot of the male outfits are old. They are still good, and work with auto fitting clones, but it would be nice to have some updated ones (yes, especially for GEORGE! We love George! And Gianni 7 too, LOL). Genesis and M4 have a great variety that you just don't see in the G3M's right now.
Also, more basics that mix and match would be great. I love the fantasty stuff, but sometimes I need to dress up my guys in clothing that a normal man would actually wear: jeans, t-shirts, button down shirts, etc. There are some sets, but more can't hurt. Look at how many of those are available for the women!
More dress clothes and uniforms would be great too. I don't think there are any police officers, fire fighters or other service uniforms for G3, Aave Nainan has some great stuff out, mostly for G1M and G2M that are very versatile. I'd be up a creek if I didn't use the "Wear Them All" clones to make the old stuff fit!
Edited to add: Men's jewelry is another area that is sadly lacking. Watches, rings, manly style necklaces, etc. Very few vendors are doing those. I think Fabiana has a nice set over at Rendo. That's the only one I've seen.
Since you are an aspiring PA and so have gotten into a nitche yet ;)
I would love to see something like greeble armor sets where we could add/remove different bits for completely different looks from fantasy to sci-fi to apocolyptic
Oh, and a disco set for George would be great, complete with gold chains! We could use Jepe's new Hairy Men set for the chest hair! LOL

I think all the typical complaints about menswear can be found there.
Most men's clothing lacks folds and morphs for realistic-looking movement. Tube sleeves and trouser legs make an already awkward G3M body (when posed) look more like SIMS than the premier human 3D model on the planet. The best that I've seen is http://www.daz3d.com/eldritch-seeker, http://www.daz3d.com/urban-survivors-hd-for-genesis-2-female-s-and-male-s, http://www.daz3d.com/horror-survivors-marius, all by Luthbel, who is yet to sell a G3M outfit. His sister, Luthbellina, approaches his standards. This is what I'm looking for in men's clothes.
I got Horror Survivors Marius mostly for the eyebrows, but I was VERY pleasantly surprised to find how good the clothes were for 'regular duds.' (Also Marius skin is awesome)
This is my opinion only - I find that many men's clothes are lacking in real world details and fit. Button up shirts - many collared shirts are lacking a collar band that separates the body of the shirt from the collar. Most also lack the yoke and center box pleat on the back. Slacks seldom look slack, they often have that shrink-wrapped look with few wrinkles, creases or break where they meet the shoe.
Holy Sh*t, The Desert Pathfinder of Luthbellia is great. Probably needs some reshading but the modle looks great!
Men's pants often look like tights. There is a lot of Conan/fantasy/medieval outfits for sale and I just don't render those. I only buy scifi and modern. Details like zippers and pockets are frequently missing. Weapons belts stretch and distort. Regular belts stretch. Men's clothing also costs more price-wise and has fewer textures. Sometimes the modeling will look great for men's wear but have horrible textures. Outfits are made as one solid piece and don't mix and match ad don't have sufficient mat zones.
Need loose natural fit to fix that tightly wrap clothes onto model look, current clothing onto model looks too un-natural because of that tight wrap fit.
I just have to add my 2 cents worth here :)
Loose fit clothing does not auto follow very well so you kind of have a choice, use loose fit items that have plenty of pose and/or movement and figure shape morphs or use skin tight so it auto follows/fits most poses and shapes.
If you are looking for clothing for the amazing George, both of my latest mens clothing sets include the Heavy morph so should work very well although you'll probably have to up the smoothing after adjusting the figure poses that match the draped morphs. Both of these sets have pose matching draped morphs and work quite well with auto follow yet have a slightly less shrink wrapped fit.
Renomista: Don't forget the excellent texture set for Desert Pathfinder by the always superb ShoxDesign. I wish IH Kang would get her to do texture sets for his stuff.
What this person said. I think the closest I have is a fantasy armor pack for M3...works for the most part on M4, haven't even bothered trying it on Genesis. Otherwise, I have no problems with men's clothing, really. I think so many PAs do an incredible job and I've always been happy with my purchases.
Somone mentioned firefighter uniforms...billyT has a nice set in the store. It's for M4, which works for me...
Even though I rarely have men in my renders, I am always looking for quality, realistic looking outfits and for the most part i have it covered for when I need a male in an image.
This along with a couple of dynamic polos and tees and plenty of my own textures and recolors and I am set
I don't know, just pulled up six "everyday" G3M sets, none of which look shrink wrapped. Also look like stuff I see on the street everyday.
Her Nomad for Genesis 3 Male(s) and Female(s) is also really, really good.
I don't think it's a matter of "loose" or "tight". It's a matter of drape. Most men's clothing is designed to hang off the body's frame, squaring the shoulders and smoothing the lines to create hard angles and solid geometric shapes. If you want to look at the work of a PA who really understands this, look at IH. Kang's stuff.
As far as what the market here needs, the main issue that tends to be missed with men's clothing is that, in the real world, the differences between outfits tends to be a lot more subtle. You can have five guys in a room together and they'll all be wearing similar polos or T-shirts or business suits, for example, whereas the only time you'll see that with women undernormal conditions is if they're wearing a very casual outfit like a T-shirt and Jeans, or some kind of work outfit or uniform. What that means is that it's frequently not enough to have one business suit in the library, or one or two polos, but wo or three distinct variants that will still look like they belong in the same universe when placed together. I personally think that this means that that what we really need are outfits that come with more options from the beginning... a shirt that has two or three collars and sleeve options, or a suit that comes with two different jacket variants and two different ties.
"Outfits are made as one solid piece"
I agree with most of the comments made, especially when it comes to tailored clothing. Many items either look like shrink-wrap or potato sacks. The cut is critical in the real world, and examining how men's clothing is cut when creating clothing items would seem to be a good starting point. We need tailors!
To a certain extend you can cheat it with something like the the Genesis supersuit, but the inherant properties of auto-fit might mean that a more viable approach would be something similar to what Sickleyield did back with her original Rigging and Morphing system. This is one of the areas where DS's ability to only have one set of collisions per object such a pain, but if you had a modified geoshell with squared off shoulders, etc., as the collision object to keep things from getting too rounded off, the end results might be better.
I kind of hope there would be some universal morphs or scripts that can add different kinds of folds to desired area of the clothing. The right folds at the right place seem so hard to find.
Shoulder seams & sleeve caps. They tend to not be modeled realistically, for the most part, and as a costumer.... It's not something I can easily forgive.
Can I add that I don't need 10 different characters who all look like M7's brother, cousin, uncle, etc. Many crowd scenes turn out looking like some "cloning" episode from Star Trek.
Something along the lines of this? https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/sickle-super-clip-fixer-genesis/93993/
• Very few shirt-in-the-pants outfits. Not everyone in the world wears their shirt out. There are some outfits, but it's kinda hard to find one that has a convincing look.
• Too many outfits that look the same, or similar, especially with Sci-Fi and Fantasy... There is a look, I don't really know how to describe it but it's either similar to a generic Star Trek TNG uniform if its Sci-Fi, or something like a Ranger/ Robin Hood kinda undertone for Fantasy. Fantasy isn't a big deal to me because I don't really delve into it much, but a lot of the "Future" stuff is either bio-mechanized glowing armor or a techie onesie... I'm not big into anime, but some of the cooler outfits in the more well thought out stuff (not the kiddie fighting stuff or high school boobie-girl vampire-robot stuff) could use a looking at. Please people, the future is not a onesie.
• Shoulders often look weird, I know there are ways around that mostly, but still it's hard to not see.... Like the straps that follow body contours instead of spanning low areas on a female figure. It's probably more a software issue though.
• Few uniforms have ever looked convincing to me... military, civilian or fantasy. For once I'd love to see an epulate that doesn't either look like a sticker or a mad dictator's or covered pockets that don't look ironed on.
This is not too say there are not great things out there or people aren't good at making stuff, it's probably just the ease at which one can achieve certain results VS reasonable return on the time invested. That and the things I'm looking for don't really exist or are obscure.
I don't remember where at the moment, but there should be a way to turn off autofollow. You may have to do it per morph on the figure, though.
