I picked up the tire shop set.

Some of the tools can be loaded individually as smart props. Other tools load with the pegboard. The tools on the pegboard can be unparented and moved around individually.

Is there a way I can load, say, just a combination wrench, without having to load the whole pegboard first?

You could try loading it, delete what you don't want and then save as a scene subset then you can just merge in your file with the props you need when you need them.

  • Hmm.  One thing seems off.  I've never seen a mechanic's shop that clean.  Every one I've seen has oil and grease everywhere.  I know there's a pack to add that type of thing in 3dL, is there something similar in Iray?

There's a wide variety of products to do things like that. One very easy approach is to try using one of my free procedural shaders (in my sig) on a geoshell to overlay an appropriate substance (you'd want the WTP Cutout ) Only downside is procedural shader can sometimes look unnaturally distributed unless you make the effect subtle. Then again, free.

Well, according to one poster, it should only take a day to bang out a huge environment, slackers.

It takes me longer than that just to bang out (so to speak) a few renders on my old Mac!

My Honda dealer's service area is that clean. :-) I know there was at least one time where they shut down the service department for Thursday and Friday, so they could steam clean and repaint with epoxy-based paint.

And jyst what use would a tire shop have with a pipe wrench? :-)

If the air compressor goes out, you could use it for extra leverage on the lug wrench.

The pipe wrench is useful for adjusting customers who want to watch, or worse, "help".
