OMG!!! i13 Nice Work!
in The Commons
i13 has really kicked things into high gear. The amount of quality sets she has produced recently is staggering.
Really awesome!

Just a shame they are all iRay only sets now, they look good yes they do, but with no support for 3Delight is where I pass on them.. Which is a shame since some other well known PA's offer 3Delight support for their products..
as far as I know i13 is a single person, not a group or studio.
I think its impossible for one person to support 2 shadersystems, given the speed, amount of items and poses and the quality i13 is releasing.
The latest sets have been so gorgeous. And the fact that they also come with so many props, poses and lighting blows me away. Sadly, I can't do Iray yet. I think it's time to kick it into high gear and build a computer that can. The tire shop and the neighborhood bar are at the top of my wishlist!
It is at least husband and wife, but my understanding is they have several people who work for them.
I suspect one of the big problems with supporting both 3DL and Iray for environments isn't as much the shaders as the lighting.
Most of the time, I don't find converting Iray shaders to 3DL that hard. But the lighting? OMFG.
True, that. It would be great if the existing G2 to G3 converters would also work backwards.
I think where I cam coming from is when you look at http://www.daz3d.com/miranda-s-ice-cream-parlor the work put into that is really good and that there are both 3Delight and iRay Material Presets and Shaders and that there are also a number of themes to boot..
I hear ya on that one with going totally to iRay only was the first nail the dumping of G2 pose support was the second nail and I have lost any and all desire to buy any i13 products now..
is it really that big of an issue for some to tweak textures and poses to keep from buying a set, just having a hard time comprehending this as I do both on a regular basis.
Anyhoo, great looking product as usual!!
It's not that much a matter of "tweaking" the poses. I do regularly that when using G1 or V4 poses on G2 (or just inside of G2) all the time. But poses between G1/2 and G3 explode, it's not much fun to fix manually. That's why a pose converter would be great, similar to the already existing ones for G1/2 to G3.
As for the 3DL/Iray debate... the problems starts when you don't have three or four surfaces to change, but an entire workshop with a gazillion surfaces. As someone mentioned in another thread, a "convert from Iray to 3DL" tool would be great, and certainly boosting sales of some products, if all that was left was some final tweakings, or the occasional surface that really doesn't translate.
One problem I have with Iray > 3DL is that there are potentially a lot of different shaders I'd want to use. That said, I'd love an intelligent tool, maybe a script.
Something like 'do you want to turn Emissive surfaces into UberArealights, or do you want me to turn them into a shader with ambient channel? Do you want me to convert SSS items into UberSurface or AoA Subsurface?' and so on.
Isn't the coffee shop past 60 days now? The houseboat is and they weren't far apart. And the houseboat wasn't discounted this time tho it was last time i13 had a new release :(
Yeah I understand where you are coming from, the transition to IRAY does require a bit of an investment, and I was slow to adopt it myself. But I have been in the IRAY camp for a few months now, and I'm not sure I could ever look back.
I get what you are saying, I feel the same about V4, as I use that character more than any other. I've resorted to maipulating the poses I do have, and mimicing the poses in the sets, by importing a G3 and posing them side by side, then I save them off as new pose presets. It's a lot of work, but I get kind of obsessed, and I can't stop, and the next thing you know 14 hours have passed, and I've been just bee sitting there doing pose after pose..I need to get a life. :)

I've suspected that. I only ever got one i13 product that I thought was substandard (it was some shoe store product that seemed very hastily put together) but the rest, all of them, are top notch. Cool that she could build a business with "franchisees" through 3D! That's what consistent quality and value leads to!
The Coffee Shop was released on the 19th February according to the readme.
Greetings,
The houseboat actually was on sale already during the MM++ sale so far; I know because it was one of the big 'I Want This' items during this sale, and I got it... I don't think i13 was one of the sale-vendors at the time, I think it was part of the random 'More Madness' collection.
The Tire Shop environment is pretty amazing, I saw the tools and nearly bought it right then, but went through the rest of the promos and found that they even put hand-poses for them in place. The environment itself is neat, although I'm a little...I don't know what the right word is...sad...? that the poses for 'work' are for men, and the poses for 'pin-up' are just for women, at least from what I can tell. Having known a good number of women who are greasemonkeys, it seems like it'd be cool to have them represented in poses. I imagine the male poses will probably work, though, but maybe it'd be cool to see it in the promos too. Plus guys pin-up differently than women do... :)
Still, I'm buying it, because it's super-cool.

Okay...thanks (marking calendar)
IronMan13 just keeps getting better and better. The detail of the sets, the quality and realism of the poses are always impressive.
I'm just sad she stopped supporting poses for V4 and stopped making OBJ (or Poser) files.
I'm running Carrara 7Pro and can't use DUF files or Genesis.
I keep wanting to pick up her stuff, but none if it will run on my machine.
The thing was I was all for iRay months ago until my videocard died while rendering an iRay scene, and ever since then I am loathed to try again.. As unlike most I can't simply go out and buy a new video card when one fails since I am on a pension, and that the one I have now a 650GTX Ti was a gift to get me back up and running properly.. I suppose I did come off as a bit harsh in my other posts because I do like iRay but with that one incident I don't really want to try again..
I picked up the tire shop set.
Some of the tools can be loaded individually as smart props. Other tools load with the pegboard. The tools on the pegboard can be unparented and moved around individually.
Is there a way I can load, say, just a combination wrench, without having to load the whole pegboard first?
I wonder about that Vintage Ice Cream Van - it was released yesterday as New but I recall I saw the product page already a week ago or so?
Agreed, but it doesn't help much if you need to repair the mesh of one of your 3D cars. She could have included some morphs for repairing dents when Collision Detection doesn't work as intended...
Not really, but if you will be using a tool often, you can load the pegboard, delete everything that you don't want, then save that tool as a scene subset. Then you can call it up by itself whenever you need it in a scene.
Arghhhhh. Everything in her catalog is discounted today EXCEPT the coffeeshop?!?!?
I was released by error last week and pulled a few ours later, Since the DMB with broken at the same time probably nobody baught it...
Ah, OK, thanks...
It will cease to ne New next Tuesday, I think.
Haha
Yeh, if i13 is one person; they have mastered quatum mechanics. Cause they get more out of a day than the rest of us - like about 40 hours. :)
Plenty of Genesis 2 poses in her Daz store. Plenty of Genesis 2 poses in her Rendo store.
Well, according to one poster, it should only take a day to bang out a huge environment, slackers.
