Houston we have a problem!!! Friends and Daz3D!!

Friends and Daz3D.

Were there any update on Hexagon, which was distributed by download, for the PA and this update is not yet incorporated into the program ??

My Hexagon closes always with problems. Today then my computer is 64-bit and am using windows 10. Everything goes defect. There is no more symmetry, it is lost. And so on goes with everything, always loses everything _ Windows has detected an error in the Hexagon, the program will be closed _ Okay, even all saved, no longer how to work it. The paintbrushes Smoothing, or displacement, no longer work, close the program. It is days lost good job.

Hexagon is a fantastic program, fast to model, to make morphs, it is very important for those who work with him, and deeply know. The bridge to this is one of the smartest and legal tools I've seen on the market without errors and defects and all fast, automatic. No one needs to be the genius of mathematics, physics, with absurd calculations Morph Loader Pro.

What happens to Daz3D ??? Because until now there has Hexagon version on 64-bit? Why has not improved the brushes, important parts for modeling.

Not everyone can invest many dollars in super expensive programs, such as ZBrush, Cinema 4D, Maya, 3DsMax,  and many turned fever, 3D hundreds programs releases.

Hexagon ever is the right arm of Daz Studio. You have to believe, many people use or used. If you Daz3, abandoned Hexagon, please. Take the product sale and return our money invested.

I'm very upset. Now with a new PC, powerful enough to create again. I have to dedicate myself to learn to use another modeler software for a year or more studies?

Daz3D, prey for teaching and for giving us all the support, but how will the speed launches and new technology, Very-very fast - one thing is certain production will fall, and Nobody learns, in one day or overnight.

Hugs.

Roberto Melo - Betomelo.

(My apology, I use the Google translator. I'm sorry to not speak English !! But I hope you understand at least a 90% !!)

I feel for you. I have had similar issues in the past with other software. I'll be getting a new PC with Windows 10 next week and fear I might have some of the same issues as you when I start to install my programs.

this is a problem, really, my friend. You use Hexagon for modeling of their projects. You will take a year of study in other software to get the same quality and speed that you had in Hexagon. A year without producing anything. :(

...I've been running Hexagon on my 64 bit workstation (Win7). It is "so-so" though I have made it Large Address Aware (giving it 3 GB to work with) and changed the compatibility to XP and it seems to be more stable. Not sure that the latter can be done in Win 10.

I tried other free and low cost modellers, but still find Hexagon's UI and toolset so much more "natural" to work with to the point that I can actually concentrate on the learning curve for modelling rather than that of the programme. I also like the fact it is focused on a single task, that of polygon and vertex modelling, without a lot of other "distractions" that the "full featured" applications have.

Would I like to see an update that includes 64 bit support and improvements to the UV mapping tools? you betcha'.

If Daz does not want to invest the resources on maintaining the tool, the least they can do is make it open source and let the community maintain it (assuming there are developers in the community who are still interested in it). If it doesn't work on later versions of windows, I do not see how that is going to remain profitable for Daz.

The other option, albeit painful, would be to invest time and effort on a community driven project such as Blender. I have seen a lot of folks in these forums who use Blender. I haven't used ZBrush but heard that the updates and newer version are provided free for licensed users. Also iirc there was a license transfer program sometime back which allowed you to buy a used copy from another user and have the rights transferred. That would have been a much cheaper option. Not sure if that's still the case; you can check their forums.

I've stopped using Hexagon completely; I use Blender; I used to use it but was doing less modelling, but Daz's lack of care for Hexagon forced me back (well that's part of the reason), and now I model some of my own stuff,. Their loss I suppose.

I also have issues with Hexagon on Windows 7 (x64) but I find that it works better when I launch it via DAZ Studio. Just start an empty scene in DS and send it to hexagon. It should work better...

  • DAZ is actually working on Hexagon; there just hasn't been much stated by them publicly to indicate that  development is progressing on it.

I don't think that's a wise move.  With nothing visible for such a long time, customers are moving on to other things, like ZBrush, Silo, Blender, etc.  Whey they finally have it ready, there may not be a market for it.

Unless it is done as free update for all existing owners...

    ...+1

It already is also pretty inexpensive compared to when I purchased it nearly eight years ago.

I've given Blender more than enough tries and always found myself going back to Hexagon. Don't have 700$ for ZBrush, crikey, I don't even have enough for a three month renewal of my PC membership that expired in February.

    @ wilfred, I'll give that a try.

FWIW, the last few Hexagon updates since I bought it have all been free ones. And one of these days I'll have another go at learning it and keep at it this time...
