There hasn't been a male outfit since 19:th of Marsh, when we got the Rough Rider. That's almost 3 weeks ago now.
Just sayin'....

Last new male item was trleased on 01. April: http://www.daz3d.com/chef-uniforms-for-genesis-2-male-s
before that, on 29. March http://www.daz3d.com/wastelander-for-genesis-3-male-s
Since then, about a week without new male clothing items.
I guess the top vendors are busy working on more G3F clothing. Ooops... did I say more G3F clothing? I think I meant less G3F clothing, because with every new female clothing release I'm seeing more and more skin and less and less clothing. I guess it's easier to make clothing when you're only intending to cover about 10% of your figure.
misread as dryup as syrup >.<
i would've liked the 2 new mei lin hairs for g2m.
You are getting at this the wrong way. The main idea is to put the male characters into female outfits, the skimpier, the better. That's equal clothing opportunity for you.
But honestly, skimpwear has its place, and making good looking skimpwear is not that simple. Also, it seems to be picked up by lots of people, or sale numbers would be totally abysmal for them, and consequently the skimp would be befallen by the same fate as the rest of the clothing line.
Please increase coffee intake :D

I stopped buying female characters and outfits a while ago. I have too much and more than I will need. I really do need men's outfits but since I don't render fantasy I'm really only looking for modern clothing and sci-fi
I think what I warned people during Genesis 2 about not supporting male content vendors is starting to happen. So far it looks like most of the clothing that is for the males are being sold to DAZ to cut the risk they have on release. That said it's not like you don't have options to autofit and fix clothing from previous generations and you have the content development tools to fix issues to get them working with genesis 3. I know I spent the first few weeks of Genesis 3 male's release converting the clothing and fixing weightmapping and adding jcms.. it's not that hard once you figure it out as you're not doing whole pieces of clothing.
I use older men's outfits quite a bit as well as converted women's clothing. I noticed the men's outfit dry up at Genesis. The gender split benefited female characters far more than male characters outfit-wise.
Hah! Now I really want to see someone jury rig that one Dragon Queen "outfit" on a male character, complete with body hair.
But yeah, it's getting to a point where I'm sorely tempted to finally hunker down and figure out Hexagon and learn how to make my own clothes. If you want something done, well...
(Although it would be nice if Hexagon didn't crash every so often on my computer. Just saying.)
That said, I was looking through a lot of the M4 clothes and I was surprised by how much of a variety there was back then. There's plenty of outfits I'd love to see updated for the current gens, but that ain't ever going to happen for a variety of reasons. And frankly, I don't get why people would by skimpwear over and over again, when it's getting to a point where it's basically the same outfit, but with minor variations here and there (Malibu Stacy with a new hat, anyone?). But whatever, people can spend on whatever they want.
A lot of the sales on the skimpwear is because they're part of a bundle. There may be people who buy a Pro pack for the skimpwear, but most are grabbing the base, hair and add-on characters. Bundle pricing means I've got oodles of unused strapless minidresses and heroine outfits with holes in them.
Seems like male outfits are being saved up for G3M character releases. So maybe you will see some more around the time when Lee 7 comes out (beyond just the ones in the bundle).
I only buy skimpwear as part of a bundle otherwise those frumpy underwear that come with the Genesis base characters is plenty. It is frustrating though to try what should be nice classy clothing like the 'Sexy Librarian' on a normal character basis and think, well, no one is going to wear something like that in public. However, it's still an excellent outfit for the right render compositions so I'm not disappointed in the outfit, it just doesn't have as much utility as I had hoped. I will need to buy the Business Office for G3F for other situations.
I have this issue rendering characters from my book. None of them are walking around with their various "anatomical elements" hanging out, unless they're going somewhere they shouldn't, LOL. It's an even bigger problem if you use the aging morphs. Kids and grandparents just don't look right in some of these outfits.
I'd definitely love to see more great outfits for the guys. I've been picking up the older outfits very cheap on sale and using "Wear Them All" morphs, then changing textures for more variety. Aave Nainan has some wonderfully versatile clothing for males and females, and most of it looks like stuff real people would wear. I'd love to see more mix and match sets like that. There are a few good ones for G2M as well.
Just remember, the same guy who made the Dragon Queen also made three sets for G2F that covered pretty much everything except the hands and face - the Lady of War, Elven Armor, and the Mercenary Maid... erm, me, that is.
Er ... Ahem. (But only if you have an account on deviantArt that lets you see mature content. And granted, he's not the hairiest guy in the scene.)
And I'm very glad that you did! I have all three of those, I think.
I have several pieces of male clothing on my website. Several can be mixed and matched, and are all everyday sort of items.
This made the same money in two months that this made in two years.
I own both, and the ONLY reason I got the teen outfit was for the awesome hoodie. From the skirt down didn't even stay installed.
Thats why its so misleading watching flat sales numbers. A LOT of them are inflated because folks will get something on sale or in a bundle for the sole purpose of a piece of it, and not the whole outfit. 95% of anything that could be considered skimp wear in my library is there because the bundle was cheaper to get the 4 out of 7 items I would actually use.
I would love to see DAZ or the PA's send out a serious poll on what users are looking for content-wise. I bet the results would be interesting.
I still would love to see something kickstarter-like so people could actually plunk down cash toward projects they want and remove some of the dangerous guesswork from content designers.
Or a prebuy button to guage interest. If it doesn't end up getting made due to low interest the money gets turned into store credit. Lets face it the ones interested enough to put the money up front are less likely to complain about a conversion to store credit, espcially if that credit could be used toward a different prebuy (if the first falls through for whatever reason). Only trouble I could forsee is it would mean lots more accounting numbers to keep track of.
I'm only here at Daz for the male content. But as I love to get some new items once in a while, I also buy a lot of female stuff, if I like it. For example I bought Mei Lin just because I want to have the discount for Lee 7 and she looks so realistic. The same happens for some other characters as well.
From my point of view I have to say that a lot of the male closing and even some male characters are not even half as realistic as the daily female stuff we see. So I will not buy it, although I really need male stuff all the time. But if it is not looking good, I will not use it anyway.
Often I even work with female skins on male bodies if the eyebrows are not to female.
I love the idea of a prebuy button. I would definetly use it, if I can support the development of high quality male content.
Pre-buy buttons have the same effect of saying you are wishlisting... no effect. You haven't committed actual money to it and anyone can click a button to say they want it, without having acual money. Also PAs already have an idea of clothing for males, that's why there a "dry up" in clothing. Encourgaging PAs to keep making clothes by saying so with your wallet is the only way you're going to get clothing because you're competiting for the attention of PAs against people willing, able and have shown they will buy female clothing; otherwise you'll have to go through what you already have and learn how to use the tools to convert existing items.
Actually I think of a real Pre-BUY button. They can take my money in advance. Something like paying now and get an item within the next month or any pre-defined time range. If it is not available than, they give the money back. I know, that not everybody would do that, but for me this would be fine.
It could be like one of these kickstarter projects that work with crowdfunding. It is quiet common in game developing. Just an idea. :)
Possilby, but I think it would difficult to do correctly in a brokerage where you only can submit finished products and it would have to pass QA before getting to market. This market is based on impulse shopping so clicking on something that doesn't actually exist wouldn't get too many bites. Besides, most kickstarters you're waiting months at least for products and even then it could be cancelled.
We'll agree to disagree on that one Male. A pre-buy is a commitment to purchase something; you take my money and I get a finished product onces its ready. Thats how it works with other digital content like video games. Me wishlisting something means I like it, but not enough to pay full price for it i.e. it will be in the PA or PC sale later in the year and i'll get it deeply discounted.
If we're looking for ways to encourage more of something, having a show case area of works in progress with the ability to see how real the interest is could work Like "Hey guys i'm thinking of these 3 concepts A, B and or C. You put in that prebuy button and B gets a ton of deposits that would then help encourage you to finish B first as well as give you a gauge of what the market is currently looking for.
But the bottom line really is: Why go through all that effort when I can just make a simple bra and panty set and get my money? That's what I think no one is getting after the 14th or more thread on this issue. You're simply not going to convince a vendor to do more work with there's an easier path they can take.
One possible problem with that could be that while I'm waiting having made a deposite for said outfit, a similar product is released, which I now can't afford to purchase and because a similar purchase has been released the creator of the first one stops working on theirs; but now although I've got my money back the sale on the other item has finished so that one goes i my wishlist and I'm a peeved.
I think we just have to trust in the vendors to sometimes release male clothing in between the stuff that pays their bills. And Although I do male renders a lot I find I just don' need much more than 1 or 2 different versions of jeans trousers and trainers etc.
As Genesis 3 does not work in my program of choice, I will continue to focus on Genesis 2 content. Therefore, I don't care what the ratio of new G3F to G3M content is. I have been waiting for G3M to be supported before completing my melodramatic villain character, but now I doubt that will ever happen. I may spruce up my G2M vintage driver project and offer it as a freebie.

This debate comes up fairly regularly with the same points being made and the usual posters posting from their point of view.
That said I don't think the issue is as cut and dried as most people think or that the status quo is necessarily the way it will continue long term. There are many reasons items don't sell and it is not always because it is a mans item.
I'm hoping with the influx of new Pa's from Rdna we'll see more men's content.
