The original post states that they withdrew the money well before the timeline that was given i.e before the stated number of days that they could withdraw it early so they basically broke their own contract by taking the money before the stated number of days.
No they didn't. Again, people aren't reading the page when they purchase. There are notices on both the Annual and the Quarterly subscription pages. Please read entire product description and all notes before you purchase anything, and especially if you're going to say that DAZ is at fault. Everything you need to know... everything folks are complaining about in this thread as something Daz has done wrong... it's all written clearly on the product pages... not just once... but it actually says these things TWICE. Please visit the pages and see for yourselves... http://www.daz3d.com/platinum-club-annual and http://www.daz3d.com/platinum-club-quarterly .

Well, the OP and many others mostly was talking about better service in terms of "Why isn't a reminder mail sent out prior to the renewal date?".
Outside of that, the OP was charged 8 days prior to the renewal date, not the 5 days listed in the above conditions.
Unless it has changed, the phone service is just that. A phone answering service for the company and not CS staff. At least I hope it is or else CS would never get anything done if they have to play phone receptionist and CS. I've done that in the past and it cuts productivity by more than half. You might have written CS and asked them about the situation so that they could look at refunding at refunding the erroneous new membership fee due to the card issue.
Why isn't a reminder mail sent out prior to renewal date? .... um, probably because Daz never said they would. What they DO say is If you do not wish to renew you will need to cancel your Membership beforehand. And they also say If you cancel your membership, you will remain in Platinum Club until your actual expiration date. A person does not need to wait until the last month of their membership in order to cancel it. If you paid for a year, you can cancel at any time after payment and you will still remain in PC for a year.
this is what I was talking about.
I'll support you on the "5 days" thing, because it does not specify "5 Business Days". However, one should always assume that it's 5 business days when dealing with any company whose offices are closed on the weekends and holidays. First week of January is always tricky when it comes to the number of business days because of the New Year's holiday and the weekend.
Leave? We can't leave. Nobody leaves here. What if they released the most perfect character ever, the very next day?
Anyway, bradrg pls clickme as the IM system here is a little on the invisible side. Y'all can click on it too, btw, but it won't do the same thing.
I've been shopping at Daz since early 2009. I've made a LOT of purchases, and yes I have had the occasional product wich didn't work exactly as I expected, and for various reasons have had to return a few things. Never had any trouble returning an item. I've cancelled my PC membership a few times only to restart it at a later date. When the membership could be bought for a single price... I think it was around $24.95 to join for a single month, and that could be set to auto-renew at around $7 a month. Must admit I did find it much easier to manage on a monthly basis... and I always noticed how the payment would be taken a few days before it was due. I actually liked it that way, because it the debit card was short I would get an e-mail letting me know that my payment did not go through and that the charge would be attempted again in 3 days, giving me time to get the money there. Never asked for a refund... but then again, I was never charged more than the low monthly fee. I will admit that if $70 suddenly disappeared from my account just when I was ready to cancel it, and was then told that I was just stuck having to deal with it....
Okay... I guess it does seem kinda mean, don't it? Please try again with Customer service; as I said, they have always been more than happy to work with me.
Nothing invsible about the PM system. To read or send a Message Click the gear icon right hand side of the blue line and then go to inbox. To PM someone else click the name beneath their avatar and then click "Message"
Hah! Got it. Thanks.
+1
As I noted above, when you pay for a subscription you authorise a single ongoing payment which is why it is remembered even if you change or delete your stored details (or don't store them in the first place). It's not a bug as such, it's how repeat payments are usually handled - and it can cause issues when the card itself is cancelled.
The thread does seem to be getting a bit heated - please remember that your fellow site-members are just that and keep your posts to the topic not to attacking others.
The OP already tried Customer service, states it is six days early, excluding weekends. That is six business days.
My apologies :) Need more coffee I think.
Same here :) I'm scheduled tomorrow to have a new filter inserted between my brain and my typing fingers... I think the old one is clogged or something.
Amazon sent me an email about Prime renewing. And if that wasn't enough, when I visited Amazon's site and browsed, the reminder was right there in a big large text box telling me my card was going to be charged. That worked out really well for me because I had totally forgot about it. Oh, and it gave me the EXACT date the charges would happen, not a "maybe 5 days before..give or take" kind of thing. I also remember getting reminded that Xbox Live Gold was going to expire, practically every time I turned on my Xbox.
Even if no other business on the planet hands out reminders, that is not an valid excuse for Daz to do the same. It is a distasteful practice no matter who does it. A notice is a simple common courtesy. Is that really something so hard to ask for? And hey, 4.9 with its snazzy Connect system should be able to inform people of their sub status as well.
A year is a long time, and people do forget things. Reminders are important in case people forget to have enough in their account to cover the charge. Nothing sucks more than getting an over draft fee charged because of an unexpected charge.
Amazon reminds me. Pandora and my monthly vitamin/supplement subscriptions remind me every single month. In advance, with time to spare, giving me the specific date of the upcoming charge and links to opt out. As do other services, including my monthly paid MMOs such as Final Fantasy XIV, Xmarks, various software subscriptions...
And I was not talking about 5 days before the cutoff, but earlier than that, as was the other poster. Which is why I sent Daz screenshots of their PC club info to demonstrate that they weren't abiding by their own published guidelines.
As I said, though, this was the only bad experience I had with Daz CS (because I felt that I really had to fight to get a refund and I felt I wouldn't have gotten it if I hadn't asked PayPal to intervene), but I had many previous good experiences, which is why I'm a PC member again.
It just seems they should automate this somehow and eliminate the problem. Their CS is stellar otherwise...
Just saying up front that my Support experience has been mostly good as well; sometimes I get next-day or even same-day responses.
Mostly.
One thing I have noticed, backed up by comments in this thread, is that a lot of the "weird" Support responses seem to have been concerning PC+ membership issues. A couple of years back, when I was sorting out my first membership renewal after the disastrous switch to the Magento store, I was thoroughly exasperated — something that's never happened before or since — by Support's refusal to reply to what I wrote in my ticket and the screenshots I supplied. From what I remember at the time, I was far from the only one having the same renewal issue (membership page hopelessly broken and unresponsive). My renewal was eventually sorted out, but I was never entirely sure that what I posted was being read and understood.
Judging by this thread, nothing much has changed. Is there something special about PC+ membership issues that triggers this? The few other cases I've had of me and Support talking past each other were minor and quickly cleared up, but this is on a very different level; I don't understand why Support didn't seem to understand me on just this one topic.
I've had problems with other businesses, big national businesses, moving monthly payment days to earlier in the month or later in the month or raising rates and not informing me that they are doing so. That sort of behaviour, if it isn't illegal must of been surely frowned upon as bad business practice. Imagine having a payment autoscheduled to come out on the 15th of every month but they move it to the beginning of the month. Even charities have done this.
When you use Paypal they decide the date the subscription renews - Daz does not claim it early , Paypal calculate the next payment date when you subscribe so its a good idea to login to your Paypal & check the date they have listed as renewal by going to:
Profile - My Money - My Pre Approved Payments
Click on the profile for Daz & it will show as attached so I know the money will be claimed on 22 Jan 2017 (The PC Club here shows the 27th)
All the pertinent stuff seems to have been said. I agree though that the policy seems inconsiderate and self-serving. I'm not going to quote anybody anymore because last time I did on this thread all I did was add a "+1" and poof my comment went bye-bye with the original post I'd quoted. I understand why but I didn't think the original post was so terrible. <sigh>
This isn't the DAZ I remember.
To be fair, last time I had a PC subscription, I cancelled it right away both from Daz and paypal to avoid a 'surprise' renewal. When the subscription was nearing it's end, I actually got several reminders from Daz that I had to make sure I had also cancelled from Paypal.
I always paid PC by buying a Gift certificate first and paying the PC membership with my store credit. No auto renewal possibility.
I am not a PC member anymore since last August, when my grandfathered oldfashioned PC membership ran out.
You don't believe how much money I am saving by simply not buying DOs and PC items (ok, some PC items on those weekends when everybody gets PC prices) ... more money for the PAs. :o)
Agree, despite the issues I've had over Connect, and DRM in particular; I am still here becuase Customer Service got it right so often.
Even though I am spending less, and my PC expites tomorrow; I cancelled it when I bought it last year.
