Anybody else annoyed by the '#.#K views' for threads on the main forum pages?

Resolved: If you hover over the inexact '#.#K' count the exact count will pop up.
On the main forum pages, for threads which have more than 999 views they are given in thousands (to one decimal place), so the displayed 'views' only changes with every 100th additional view.
Therefore if one day it says '1.1K views' and the next day it says '1.1K views' there's no way of knowing whether the thread has had ZERO views, 99 views, or any intermediate number of views over the past day.
It's not as if using the 'K' saves much valuable screen 'real estate' is it ? Compare:
143.9K views 1.1K views
143987 views 1156 views
It's not because '143.9K views' is easier to read than '143987 views' (although I guess you could argue that one...)
Basically by using the 'K' you're just making the last two digits unavailable. For me (and perhaps for a few other people) those last two digits are the most interesting ones. It's sometimes useful (interesting?) to know whether a thread has had a few dozen views, a couple of views, or no views at all over the past hour/day/week.
(Request #215847 - Website/Forums: Any chance of changing the 'views' from e.g. '3.8K' to '3832' ?)
(Edited to highlight the reason that I think those last two digits are important)

Comments
I'm usually more interested in knowing if whatever thread I'm following has had any new posts.
Doesn't bother me a bit. I agree with Nyghtfall. I'm more interested in if there are new posts I haven't read.
Knowing when there are new posts is obviously the most important thing for most people (myself included), and the ebots should have that covered.
The reason for this question is that I have a few project threads which have been ongoing for a few years. Most of them don't get many other people posting to them, so I'm interested in knowing whether anybody's looking at them and these last two digits are often the only clue... ;o)
I might be missing something here, but isn't there an orange new for threads an indication that new posts haave been added to them since your last login. As to weather people are just "looking" at them, there's no way of actually telling AFAIK. The count showing is obviously for added comments and anything new added to any threads should show a new.
It's nice to get views, but views don't matter to me as much as posts since that's the only thing that keeps the thread alive, so it doesn't do anything for the thread if all they do is look. And, has been pointed out, the orange NEW will point you to what's got new posts.
I don't pay too much attention to it.
If I reload a thread 800 times to make the view count higher, does that make someone happier?
I see, he's talking about "views". Keeping track of those down to the single numbers must be a problem. Why one would care is another issue.
Actually, if you hover over the #.#K text with the mouse, you get the exact number.
I totally agree - views aren't really important...
So if they don't matter then why are they shown at all ?
It gives an idea of which are popular threads?
Or maybe which have info which others find interesting or neccesary. There is a locked thread which has 47k views, so could be said to be important.
In fact it is interesting to note that more people want to know Acceptable ways of handling nudity than want to view the Froum TOS. hmm.
Thanks - that's good enough for me !
(and the exact number showing if you hover over the inexact number is, to my befuddled old mind, a bit more logical than a drop-down list with an 'Edit' option that appears if you hover over a gear wheel icon that isn't even visible unless you're actually already hovering over it...
Tarnation ! I'll never get to grips with this dang new--fangled smartphoney now-you-see-me-now-you-don'tey touchy-feely-screeny-friendly UI stuff...
Why can't they just display it all the time, grumble, rant, moan...
the gear icon shows for me until I make an edit. If I want to do a second edit after posting the first, then the icon doesn't show
The trouble with smart machines is that to avoid frustration and confusion you have to be smarter they they are
If so, maybe they should go to Twitter, Facebook or well there are a few. :)
I didn't know it did that either. Thanks for the info.
The way things are being rounded for the Views is very odd. It seems to me that it would be easier from a coding viewpoint to not bother, because what's being done to round them off is not consistent. Bellow 100 views there is no rounding, from 100 to 950 there is no rounding but from 951 to 1000 there may be rounding...and over 1000 it really starts getting strange.
Never bothered me in the least.
And of course that would also explain why the last two digits of views of over 1000 are considered unimportant - if your only interest is the total number of views then it's only really the top few digits and the K (or M, or G, or T) that's of interest.
But as I said in the OP (with the important bit near the bottom now in bold to help those who missed* it) those last two digits are in some cases the most interesting ones for the reason stated...
Although it's clear from the majority of replies here that I'm in a minority.
Possibly a minority of one ? (That doesn't bother me though - I'm used to it "You're all Individuals!". (In unison) "Yes, we're all individuals!". (pause) "I'm not"
)
*or perhaps I added that bit in bold later
...or at least have a big sledgehammer on standby !
I guess most aren't paying attention to their threads for the same purpose, as you are. From keeping track of your threads for your purpose, yes easy to see 'real' counts are better...for most everyone else 'who cares, they are close' counts are good enough...
And for the site admins/web staff...they can get much more detailed info that would be totally meaningless to the rest of us...
Yeah, I know I'm a bit odd - but it keeps me sane...
(?!)
No, you're not the only one regarding watching the views, not the posts. Most of the people viewing my threads don't post, they want to see the products but not necessarily render them for other people to see, and that's fine. The views on my locked threads (2,000+ monthly, total about 390,000 views/posts) show the interest and for thread authors who make decisions on how much time and effort they want to put in to a thread to help other people, if no one is viewing it, why bother? Most of the time I am rendering something for the thread, not something I absolutely have to do for my project at the moment, and I wouldn't put in as much time if no one bothered to look (and participate, but looks are just as important.)
With views though, those include people doing edits, double looks, and the author's visits, so if you're busily making changes on the thread, that ramps up the number too. So views are a general indicator only. I scoot through the forum looking for NEW for the posts, and I really like the different color. It's easy to see and surf to the thread. I don't subscribe to hardly any, due to the sheer volume in some of them, and it's stupid IMO that you can't read the post anymore in the emails. That's a step BACKWARD Daz!
