Has anyone else seen this, and is anyone going to try to get in on it? Project Soane
I wonder if they'll take DS 4.9 Iray renders...
1. Participation in Project Soane is open to all visitors of http://projectsoane.com that become registered members.
2. All submissions must use Autodesk software with any rendering engine or any GPU-accelerated renderer as part of the rendering production process. If a Participant does not currently own an Autodesk or NVIDIA software product, Participant can download a trial version:

NVIDIA Iray for 3ds Max [LINK]
Examples of GPU Rendering Engines:
NVIDIA Iray, mental ray, Chaos V-Ray RT, Otoy Octane Render, Arion, FurryBall RT, Redshift, moskitoRender, Indigo Renderer, Thea Presto etc.Examples of CPU Rendering Engines:
Chaos V-Ray, mental ray, Maxwell Render, Final Render, Corona etc.
3. If the Participant is an individual, Participant must be 18 years or older to enter this competition.
4. Project Soane Sponsors/Partners will have usage rights to all submitted materials as agreed to by the Participant when entering the competition. NVIDIA intends during the submission period to publicize through social media a selection of incoming GPU-based submissions with attribution to the applicable Participants.

I'm surprised no one jumped on this considering it is Iray friendly. I wish I had the time and creativity for something like that.
Hmm it says it must be rendered in Autodesk software : ( I do have Maya but I don't have Iray for Maya.
"which can be rendered in your favorite Autodesk or NVIDIA Iray plugin software" I would think Studio counts even though its not so much a plug in.
I doubt it. The way I read it is you have to use Autodesk software as part of the process, which is probably why they include links to the trail versions. the IRAY mention is just a plugin for 3DSmax. Since i use Max, I guess I could create the scene in Max, then export as an .OBJ to DS and then use Iray. That would be my only oprtions as I doubt the IRAY plugin for Max would work on my older version of Max and I can't see paying $295 for the Max plugin.
That is a shame.
