Clean Uninstall & Re Install?

It looks like I am going to have to completely uninstall the version of Daz 4.9 that I currently have. How do I do a clean uninstall and re install? And if I choose to go back to 4.8 (I do have the installation files saved) How would I do that? I need to start totally from the beginning. I have a lot of my free and purchased from other sites content backed up as well.

I had some space issues recently and had to basically do the same thing. I used the install manager to uninstall DAZ 4.9 and all my content (all backed up of course) then after a reboot - check for any remaining icons and directories etc. Didn't find any. So reinstalled from the install manager and pointed my content to a new directory on another drive. Daz was pointed to my C drive (which is a SSD Raid 1).
Upon starting DAZ 4.9 i had to point DAZ to where my content was installed and re-import my Meta data. Haven't had a problem since. There's probably a better way, but “from scratch” tends to work every time so I immediately went that route.
I would guess you could find DAZ 4.8 in the Install manager and install that instead of 4.9. Cant say that will work but worth a shot.
No unless you have a back up of the 4.8 installer and can install it manually you can't use it anymore. DIM will only do 4.9 from here forward. I do have it backed up for just such an occaision though. My biggest thought is what to do with all my freebie content that I have aquired over the last 4 and a half months. thousands of items.... I will also have to go to the other shops and re download all of that content as well. Ugh! Just can't make up my mind if I want to chance this happening again with the newest 4.9 or go back to 4.8
my non DAZ stuff was all in Zips and extracted to the necessary folders (respective to thier particular needs). Same folder structure just on a new drive. Then when I pointed Daz to them and re-imported the meta data all was good again. Assume you can do the same with non DAZ content. You can also point to to more than one location.
So do you use custom categories at all?
sorry - I don't. I use custom directories for things like property presets and poses etc... was able to figure those out first and moved on.
Custom categories may or may not stay. Best you can do is save them and hope for the best.

I have both 4.8 and 4.9 on my computer, I don't run them at the same time, they do not appear to interfere with each other, so the first thing I would say is don't uninstall 4.9 for the reason that you think it bothers 4.8. (Edit- well DUH, you're having trouble so that's why you want to reinstall.) Someone can correct me if this is wrong, but I've also read that elsewhere. They're two separate entities.
Second, correct that it isn't in DIM, or even in Product Library. Once a new edition is launched, you can't get it that route anymore. If you haven't been able to install it, post here or PM me back and I'll go look and tell you where mine is installed. I did it on D drive though, but you'll get the gist. Happy to help.
Thanks Novica! I just replied to you pm lol. I think I am going to install the newest 4.9 and then sit down when I have a bit more time and install the 4.8 as well. That looks like it will take more time than I have tonight and if I can run them both independantly that will be a huge help if things go south again.
