V4 poses to Genesis?

How easily do V4 poses translate to Genesis?

I see that there's a product to convert them, which suggests doing so normally is hard... how hard?

(I have my eye on some 'zero g combat' poses that look interesting, but not sure I can use them)

I've generally found that using Mil 4 poses on Genesis directly works okay, but there will be some wierdness due to the skeletons being different which you then have to manually adjust, and depending on the pose, that could be a few tweaks or could be a lot of work, which I would guess the pose converter takes care of most of it. (I haven't bought any of the pose converters, so I can't say for certain)

Personally, I'd hunt down some V4 freebie poses and test them out.

They work fine with some minor tweaking going to G1/G2, G3 seems to just go haywire. I use http://www.daz3d.com/handy-dandy for V4/M4 to G1/G2 to quickly fix the hands/feet, but some other minor tweaking is necessary.

For some poses I've had to load V4 next to G1/G2 and apply the pose to both so I can be sure I'm getting it close enough to what it should be.

Hmm. I'm probably better off using the zero g pack I picked up and then use pose builder to work with the torso.

Genesis 1 had a lot of rigging that was V4-like, but the feet started off flat whereas V4's were angled, and the spread of the fingers was different, making all V4 hand poses look terrible.  Tweaking poses for hands is a large PITA (not the lunch kind) because there are so many finger joints. Fortunately SloshWerks made an awesome product called Handy Dandy that translates the hand and foot poses very well - http://www.daz3d.com/handy-dandy.

If you don't have any V4 poses laying around to test, grab a free one that's reasonably contorted and give it a try - the body parts you need to tweak are the same ones you'll need to tweak for most V4 poses. My personal experience is that the majority of the body poses work with minimal adjustment, but the hands would drive me up a wall if I didn't have Handy Dandy.

I'll keep that in mind. Maybe grab a bunch of freebies. The issue becomes spending money so I can go spend more money on poses I'm not sure I need. Heh. But the info is appreciated!
