Unexpected gallery comments

isidornisidorn Posts: 1,601

Today I recieved three comments to one of my renders in my DAZ gallery, which I of course am very happy for. All three comments were from PA's whose items are listed on the gallery page. I know PA's get notifications when their products are listed in the gallery, but this render was uploaded early October! Did DAZ's PA notifications have a major hickup? Did this happen to anyone else? I can't help being curious. smiley

Apparently sometimes it can take months for a PA to get notified of their products being used in gallery images.

Yep, I've had that happen, too. Get a comment from a PA months after a render is uploaded to the gallery.  As Sorel says, it can take months for a PA to get notified and I'm sure some probably don't get the notification at all. DAZ doesn't seem to have a very good system set up for things like this.

AFAIK  The system has only just been implemented for the PAs to get these notifications.

Notifications happen after certain specific criteria are met. and its not just  "likes" or comments.  Not sure what the algorythm requirements are,  though it is probably complex.  So that plateau,    can happen in a few days and as been shown,  perhaps a couple months.   It's always nice getting the notification though,  cause it's very hard to keep up on all the submissions to the gallery,  and seeing the art is always fun.

I think there's a certain number of "likes" on an image before it triggers a PA notification.

I really like it when there is a thread specific for showing appreciation for the vendors' products.  Even if we are doing not so great with the artistic side, at least, we can show off our love for what the vendors are doing and their great products.  And, it works better than putting something like that in their commercial thread.  I went a little crazy with one of Marhsian's threads awhile back, but he was very sweet about my obsession with one of his product.  I try to limit myself now to just one or two renders in threads now, though, as I tend to get a little over exuberant with products I love.  I'm still not sure that he likes what I've been doing with that product, but he is always polite!  I know I have several favorite vendors and some of them have appreciation threads of one sort or another that I like to keep track of even if I'm not contributing much or not adding all of my stuff to the gallery.

It is real nice, though, to see a comment in your gallery from a vendor you admire and whose products you love.

Yeah... I got a comment from Danie of DnM fame, that made my year.

I know the feeling!  This year I got a comment from FirstBastion that really made me feel good.  Last year, I got a comment from Eustace Scrubb on a sort of bad render I did with one of his products and I got a comment from Marshian for one of his that I used.  Best feeling in the world to know that a vendor likes what you did or, at least, appreciates that you used their products.

Yes it certainly is a great feeling getting gallery comments by the PA's whose products you love to use. (thank you FirstBastion as I just got a comment from you wink)

If there's certain conditions that has to be met before a PA gets notified I have no clue to what that would be. One of my favorite PA's are Emma and Jordi and they are always quick to comment on my gallery images when I have listed their products. Even images with just one (or possibly none) like.

Yes.  I think one of the ones I cherish most was a comment from Optitex, on a render where I had used a dynamic item, even though I used the Poser variant of it.

  • I got a really fun comment from V3Digitimes on a render I did using his gen 4 iray converters. It is nice to comments from the vendors. It was really surprising.

I like listing the products I use in my image if only to let the PA know how I used their product and it's nice when the PA makes a comment to the posted image.

  • I've had a few though I think partly because I'm friends with them on facebook and/or deviant art so they notice when I upload there

    "Curiouser and curioser..."

So I now got three comments on that render, all from PA's whose products I've listed. The first on the same day I posted, the second a month later and now the third almost half a year later!surprise I see no logic whatsoever in that. But I'm glad you liked it FirstBastion and thanks for the comment!smiley
