Add ons for V7! Any idea what this could be, because the link tells me nothing.

I'm not familiar with a product that is so of the lack of descriptions don't help me. Body copy is invaluable, especially when you are selling something, so maybe this is something I want, maybe not, maybe by the time I ask and find out the sale is over and I don't want it now that it's full price again. I have no problem keeping my money if you wont tell me what it is, but I'm curious; not only to what it is but why Daz thinks the lack of description is a good business model for anyone not familiar with the product.

  • That's the High Definition body addon for Victoria 7. I'm honestly not sure how valuable it would be for me personally, but other users might want the extra details it can provide.

The description is indeed quite short.... It's a set of HD morphs to add high-resolution details to V7.

They probably think people know what "HD add-ons" are since previous versions of Genesis had them, since the description for HD add-ons for other G3 bases is just as short.

Yeah, best never to assume a customer has seen the other items when planning out a description.

well that explains what it is but I'm still at a loss to why they they have items on their storefront that they would assume the customer will make sense of without explaining what they are. Kwazy!

there are several products out there with the description that basically is just a repeat of the product's name and to me, it's just lack of details.  As a consumer, I still like to see a detailed/creative description of the product, because it really just comes with packaging.  To me when I see no description (other than the product name), it tells me the artist (or the store) didn't care enough to really try and "sell" the product.  Of course, that's just MY opinion.

Another reason store pages should have direct links to FAQ and forum threads concerning them. I have no idea what this this is, and I doubt any new user would have a clue. "But its HD, that's better, right? The term "HD" is not so simple itself. HD comes in many flavors. 720p, 1080i,1080p (Full HD,) 1440p (QHD,) and 4k (Ultra HD,) just to name a few. I would bet money that many of the people here do not know the difference between QHD and UHD. The name Quad HD might sound pretty darn good, like it must be as good as 4k, right? Quad is 4! Quad HD is based on "four times 720p," which works out to 2560 x 1440, and is most certainly NOT 4k. 4k is 3840 x 2160, which is four times 1080p. Confused yet?

Now how am I supposed to know what Daz's definition of "HD" is? How many polygons are talking here?

Except that this HD has absolutely nothing to do with the HD dealing in pixel sizes.

My thoughts are that it should be High Detail....and basically means any morph done on the subdivided mesh as opposed to the base mesh.  So there is no 'set' poly count.

I am aware it is not a pixel count, I was just giving an example for HD tv, because that is what the term "HD" is intended for. Daz is obviously using "HD" as a marketing ploy. But like others have stated, there is nothing in the description of this product that tells you what it actually is. What does the morph on subdivided mesh translate to? Does that mean poses are more accurate to human joints? Is this something that is more visible with high resolution renders vs lower resolutions? (And if so, about what resolution renders would you see such a difference in?) How does the mesh get subdivided without creating new polygons or vertices on that mesh?
