You can use the geometry tool as SnowSultan mentioned. I'll add that there are many lesser known ways to speed selection up that you may not be aware of. Two that I use all the time are clicking on a single polygon and then Geometry Selection -> Select Connected (CTRL *) and selecting by surface. Explore the entire menu of the Geometry Editor!
So, for example, let's say you were trying to separate a tree with leaves from the rest of a larger scene that was all one object. You could start by selecting the leaves by surface using the surfaces list inside the geometry editor (assuming only your target tree had that particular surface for leaves). Then, for the sake of illustrating another method, you could add a single polygon selection from the trunk (making sure the leaves you already selected stay selected). Then Geometry Selection -> Select Connected to add the entire trunk to the selection. Rinse and repeat as necessary.
When you've got everything you want selected, use Geometry Selection -> Invert Selection, and then Geometry Visibility -> Hide Selected Polygon(s). Finally, use Geometry Editing -> Delete Hidden Polygon(s) and what you're left with is your tree and nothing else! Save your new asset.

how long are artist's stores on sale for this go around? Are they on sale as long as their products are still "mad"? There are a couple of items I'd like, but I thought I'd wait to see what the mind blower was tomorrow before making another purchase (I like the one for today, but it's not something that I have any need for)

Now let me hasten to be clear... they are very nice, detailed scenes, and I can easily imagine them worth full price, let alone the sale price.
But I just don't like 'everything baked together' scenes.
(I tried isolating some items, and it ended up taking a huge amount of work and then I realized I had missed some pieces, and... ugh)

Huh, looks like DAZ just corrected a pricing mistake.
A bunch of items from the Genesis 2 70% off sale that were sitting in my cart suddenly leapt from "ridiculously good price" to "sort of OK price".
At the lower prices, they were definite buys. At the new improved prices ... well, DAZ may just have saved me some money.
If you have items in your cart currently, check the totals before you check out, so that you don't have a nasty surprise.
yeah, guess they noticed people were stacking discounts and took out everything that was discounted as related to MM from the stuff eligible for the 70%.
Yeah, my cart total just about doubled. Funnily enough, 2 minutes after the fact, I made it drop substantially--nothing like frustration to curb my impulse buying.
Same here. Making a mistake including those items I get, but 'fixing' the mistake in a way that negatively impacts buyers is probably gonna cost them more than leaving it for a day would have.
Thanks for the heads up. That will indeed change things... Not that those items are not worth a few dollars more, but the total has increased too much for my budget.

Scored big yesterday with Zev0 and the merchant skins. Got tons of great stuff for Genesis 2, most of which was less than $5 each. So much for food and gasoline...
Today's "mindblower" is a character for $12. Call me cynical, but my mind is not blown.

I've not been impressed with DAZ's definition of "mind blowing" this entire sale. That's not saying anything against the PAs, who've created a lot of amazing products. (And I've added to my wishlist daily.) But by my expectations of "mind blowing," the product should be both exceptional and deeply discounted.
I admit the actual discounts for new releases are good, and the additional 10%, (5% effectively,) for buying the "mind blower" is nice. In fact, everything about the sale is fine, except for that one bit of wording. "Daily Mind Blower" sets expectations much higher than the sale delivers. At the same time, I'm not sure what to call first among many Newly Mad featured items. Maybe the "Daily DAZ Pick"? Or each day have a different employee choose one and include their name... for example, "DAZ Steve's Pick of the Day" ... See? No wild expectations of a "mind blowing" product/price...
As for today's "DMB" item, it's nice to see a lower priced product in that spot. A lot of the DMBs have been higher priced items, which have kept many of us from "going for" the extra 5%. I know the only DMB I've purchased was yesterday's bundle from Zev0. That's only my second order so far this month, too, the first being last Wednesday taking advantage of the coupon code to get a ridiculously low price on V7 expression morphs. (Now that was mind blowing!)
I am so not impressed by this March Madness.
Yesterday, the daily mindblower was something worth bothering with, Zev0's long awaited merchant resource. Put it in the cart along with a couple of wishlisted "still mad" items (the tentacle and fairy princess) and no discount. Everything just sat there at 40% off. Tried the old log out, log in thing. Tried coming back a few hours later.
Today, the mindblower works as promissed, but who cares, becasue it's nothing I want.

So for I am a bit underimpressed with March Madness. Discounts have only been 40% or 50% for 2. Not even as good as a 60% off flash sale. Money is tight this year so I'll just wait for a better sale.
The only real madness was last Friday and that turned out to be an "error" . So the items were pulled before I could complete my purchase. Yeah I know a few were put back but most of what I wanted wasn't
