Pentagon-Designed Female Combat Clothing

Pentagon is getting around to designing female-specific combat gear - and guess what... It's not skimpwear and covers the abdomen!

Humour aside, I thought I'd put this out there for any costume creators, in case they're aiming for realism in female body armour for modern or futuristic settings. :) The text is quite informative. It goes over a lot of useful things for designers to consider when making female clothing for combat.

It's also important to note that  the numerous layers of kevlar and armor plating pretty well makes everyone gender neutral.  Realism simply is real.

I like it. Too bad there aren't more modern military outfits for both genders in the store.

Really wish there was a simple 'compressed torso' for autofitting sensibly around women's chests, in DS. Yeah, there's fit control, dynamic draping, and a dozen other things, but even things like 'breast gone' and whatever morphs still do wacky things.

Most of the times I have to resort to breastplates/vests as unfitted items I tweak to fit right.

I'm somehow certain I'm hearing just a little sarcasm here. :)

This is one of the situations where I think GeoGrafting clothes are a good idea.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the GeoGrafting, but for something like that where there'd be zero reason to see what's under the clothes (and where one could easily hide body parts when auto-fit to another figure)  it's a good idea for conveying the proper effect.

The site may not be a shining beacon of journalistic integrity, but the changes in combat gear to accomodate women are real, though I've seen the POG thing being touted as designed to protect the male reproductive area.

Now if we could just get an A-10 Warthog. The world's most beautiful airplane, when viewed from the ground.

If you're talking about those 'trending' things, those are adverts which seem to get sprinkled over a thousand different places, but 'War Is Boring', itself, is one of the more well-known blogs about military developments (and, sometimes, historical stuff).

It seems to have a bit of an anti-F-35 bias (the opinions of which have largely be debunked by other sites), but it's decent aside from that.

I was a medic. An A-10 in the air meant less work for me on the ground. Love that plane!

if you want to be taken serious you should not have those random ads on your site

...or when sitting in the cockpit which is basically an armoured bathtub..

I hear you though, would love to see more "real" aircraft, that actually look like they'd fly by the laws of aerodynamics, here

PA motivation: just think of all the tall white girls in high heels and skimpy outfits you could pose with said "real" aircraft!

...yeah, don't have the software or expertise to convert them though.

Someone did a Tupolev TU-114D for X-Planes. Would love ot have that model for rendering. The TU-114 was basically an airliner built off the planform of the TU-95 Bear Bomber which employed four sets of counter rotating props and had a maximum cruise speed of over 500 mph. Untl the 747 it was overall the largest airliner in service.

Since the site isn't selling anything themselves they have to fund it somehow and advertising is what a lot of sites choose. Do people take tv news less seriously because there's advertising on tv? Should we say newspapers are fake because they come with a pullout section with ads that include such bogus stuff as weight loss pills and other fads?
