If Jack sees this, I was wondering if a "Clinical" or even "Modern" version of the West Park Hydrotherapy textures was in the works. If so, then I can get the set before the price increase. Thanks

I have cleaned versions planned, yea.. but nothing slated at the mo. It's in the mix of new stuff, iray addons, textures.. so I couldn't give you a definitive time frame. So if it's the only reaason you'd buy it, I don't want to make any promises that it would be within x amount of months.
My todo list is growing exponentially 'outwards'... not just getting longer :D
Close enough. Thanks, mate. Keep up the great work.
Cheers! enjoy :)
Happy about the fact that there already is a new set for west park :) just bought it and right now it is downloading :)
This set jumped into my cart almost by itself. Wonderful expansion, thank you!
For those who want a clean version: Some good shaders will do the job until the 'real' textures are ready.
Thanks for the advice. I've not really invested in Iray shaders because I have still not absolutely determined between Iray and Octane as my primary renderer.
I'm looking forward to Mec4D's next shader pack. Should be great for stuff like clean West Park.
Yes, it does sound pretty impressive, and she is a maven. I'm hoping it will be my alternative to purchasing several small packs.
I mean, don't get me wrong, specialized texture packs built for a specific place is awesome and worth it. But having an easy backup is nice, too, or getting more variety.
(Or, even, taking a vendor's default set of textures and embellishing on them, like adding dust or paint layer or...)
Shaders are a kitbasher's best friend.
Their next best friend is modular sets that you don't have to go into with the geometry editor before you can bully them into doing what you want them to.
If Jack is going to continue to expand the West Park set then that might be enough on its own to tempt me back in the PC+ club. Love that collection of sets - they're my favourite.
I've never abandoned it to be honest - I love WP - but it just takes me longer to get around to each installment. Also, it's trying to come up with new spins on the WP universe. Creepy hallways have pretty much been done to death now, so it's making things a little 'uniquer'. I had some darker stuff in mind, but never really seemed a good fit for Daz.. that said, with the RDNA merger now, and some of the darker things potentially coming over it might just get an airing ;)
Huge fan of the West Park series too - so happy to see more, and such a cool room!
Thats good to hear. Might be time to renew PC+ then...
Personally I use the WP series as more post-apocalyptic than horror. It makes a great sci-fi setting for a group of aliens that have moved into an old, abandoned mental hospital on earth
(or similar scenarios). I think I have the whole set and its so versatile.
I would love to see more of the Parkside High set as well, if you have time. Thats my 2nd favourite set of all time
. All your modern day stuff is always first and foremost on my wishlist.
How about a bell tower with some interior space that connects to the hallway? A signal they sounded when the inmates escaped.
Some outside grounds surrounded by a high metal fence would also be really cool.
Or a courtyard / quad where the inmates were allowed to relax, surrounded on all side by the building.
A nurse's station and doctor's office (plus furniture) would also be a great addition to the Admin Level.
Just some ideas for ya. I expect to see them all released next week...
I admit, I laughed at that..!
Yea, thanks for those suggestions.. the admin level is definately getting expanded, too. The nice thing about Iray now is that the interiors do get a nice touch of extra realism with the lighting etc. Which I tried to convey in the new set.
It would be cool at some point in time to get some 'lore' in place for the WP and Parkside universe.. at the moment it's very open, which is kinda on purpose, but I'd love to read about some of the inhabitants.
One thing I'd like to see in West Park, an abandoned playground. There's something especially unnerving about a place that children play left abandoned and ruined. Silent where there should be sound, that kinda thing...
Ooh nice..!
I'm currently working on a postapoc grunged Salon. I suppose the next thing I should do is a clean happy Hydro. ;)
I don't know if this exists somewhere already, but one thing I'd love to see is a diagram of some sort showing all of the areas together as a big sort of 3D map. If it hasn't been done yet I'll get to work on it once I eventually get the remaining pieces ;o
Love the disused courtyard and playground ideas.
I tend to not buy extra textures unless I'm being lazy and don't want to do the work myself. Good shaders or Photoshop or 3D Coat, Blacksmith3D or Substance painter do a great job.
Maybe it works better if the map doesn't make sense and things don't connect right. ;)
Now I'm envisioning some sort of browser Myst-like thing.
Heh, I recall that one of the tricks used in The Shining was making sure that the layout didn't make sense. Causes a feeling of disorientation when our mental maps are confronted with the impossible.
I was thinking to something I read, that one of the things that make places scary is the sense of abandonment. Hospitals are usually busy places, with doctors, nurses, patients, and visitors everywhere. That's why seeing an empty one is so unsettling. Playgrounds and schools can be even creepier because then it's a dissonance with our ideas of innocence and youth. The Silent Hill games use this to great effect without any monsters around. :)
That's interesting; I didn't know they did that with the layout.
Silent Hill 2 was one of the greatest works of horror (to me at least) the later ones not so much. Even with the crappy visuals of the time, the atmosphere created and the way it was used was incredible.
Hmm for me when I imagine a disused hospital or school, I don't particularly think of abandonment. To me it's more like "because there's no one here there can now be crazy evil experimenty monster serial killer types here instead" if that makes sense? The fact that the people that belong there are all gone allows the imagination to create horrors in all the places you can't see, flavoured with the nature of the specific building.
Jack if you ever need inspiration...a trip over to the States and a visit to this place should provide plenty.

Of course! It all makes sense now! The whole building complex was designed by the inestimable B.S. Johnson...
You have a great west park train series BUT it would be nice
to see that group expanded with more train track, train crossings,
train bridges, and a train barn.
Or, as Jack might say, railway track, level crossings, railway bridges, and an engine shed. Though you might want to look at the Old Thumper set and its assocated products.
As it happens the Parkside Trains are on the list actually.. ;)
Finally grabbed the last few West Park sets I was missing and the Parkside trains too. And the lighthouse...
