Importing into DAZ 3d

Hi:

Is it possible to import 3ds max, 3ds, and/or Blender directly into Daz 3d?  Everytime I try a direct import, the system will not read the mesh?  Am I doing something wrong, how do I import, or am trying to do the impossible?  Please let me know.  Thanks, and have great day.

  • No, DS will not import their native formats.

  • Okay - Thanks!

  • Do you have the original applications or just a file or files you want to import?

If you have Poser (even a very old version) it will read 3ds files that could then be saved as a pp2/cr2 or obj so that DS can import them. Poser can not read max or blender by default, but I think you get a max importer when you buy the pro version.

Daz Studio can read and write .fbx format. I use that feature pretty often.

You can get fbx tools for 3ds max from http://www.autodesk.com/products/fbx/overview

and from their download page you will also get: Plug-in and Converter Archives
