Does the DUF contain all the info??
in The Commons
So a broader look at my question is if I save a prop or figure as a DUF do I need to keep the related files geometrie ,texture etc .......or does the DUF save all that information in the file??

Comments
DUF is supposed to save the needed deltas in a scene.
Okay I'm going to let my ignorance hang way out what's a delta??
No a duf does not contain EVERYTHING.
Yes, it contains the material SETTINGS. It does not actually contain the maps for those settings. It will also contain the settings for any morphs (dial spins) but not the morphs themselves. The geometry info is usually in a dsf file (both 'base' and morph) that is in the /data folder, the obj is not used any longer.
So, minimally, you need the /data/product/<any folders, like morphs, etc>/*.dsf, the duf and the textures (usually in /Runtime/Textures/product).
Okay so the DUF will still look in the texture folder, and the morph setc BUT not The geometrie folder ,thank you for explaining that mjc1016
A delta is a list of all the files needed to create the scene and so that delta should tell how and where to apply those different files listed to create your scene - the list of files by themselves isn't very useful.
So as the other poster partially explained, a morph has a default setting, your scene contails that morph at another setting so the duf would list that as a delta.
The geometry (in DS format, not obj) is in the data folder like the morphs.
A delta is simply a record of a change.
A duf (Daz User File, if I recall) is the list of items...and props, scenes, material presets and more. Duf files are what reference the dsf files.
Okay so I'm saving stuff that is in Poser format as Scene Subsets and saving those in My Library ,so I'm safest just leaving stuff alone that's in Poser runtimes
Yes.
Although the obj in the Geometries folder isn't needed any longer...and the materials presets won't be needed once you convert them. The pp2/cr2 files aren't needed, either...
Okay so that makes sense ,thanks again mjc1016
