The Genesis 1 people have the most useful clothes

The Genesis 1 people had a rare occurence in DAZ/Poser world where a lot of their clothes were actually useful in practical scenes.

They had chefs, waitresses, doctors, nurses, 1950's clothes, prisoners, vikings, medieval wear, priestesses... a ton of functional clothes that weren't complete slutwear that was totally impractical in 90% of day-to-day scenes... even in fantasy settings.

G2F and G3F have so many clothing items and like 80% are something a stripper would wear "Now on center stage, Candy in her ( place genre here ) slutwear!" ... Fantasy outfits with high heels shoes? Every fantasy outfit showing as much skin as possible that makes what would have been a really cool design totally impractical. A occupational uniform that a Playboy bunny would wear if she were portraying someone doing that job... nurse, flight attendant, barbarian, fantasy heroine... acht!

Can we have some functional clothes for the G3 Females like the Genesis 1 folks had in abundance?

Please!! :)

I agree - mostly. I ignore all of the fantasy Warrior Woman and Glamour Model stuff. I look for contemporary, everyday and versatile clothing, preferably with lots of morphs for fit and movement. As for Genesis One clothing - you could try Valzheimers Wear Them All and/or SickleYield's Ultra templates. I have found they work with most things except panties and shorts (there's a thread about that issue here).I bought them both during a sale and have used them a lot. I now have some functional V4 clothing on G3F characters.

Excellent point. Until we get our wish, I have been using Wear It All by VAlzheimer for G3 females and males to put all of my Gen 4, G1, & G2 gear on G3. Fit Control is another must-have. While there's a sale on Daz Originals, I suggest you fill any holes in your wardrobe with more Genesis 1 stuff.

Vendors who make their primary money on 3D clothing realise that the pin-up portion of the market is larger than the traditional storytelling portion. Thus, in order to fund their pet projects, they might make slutwear to pay the bills. Daz gives away its software for free, and they must continually turn a profit. They cannot afford to have a bad month, and this is why we have entered into the almost perpetual sale season. (Indeed, RDNA caught on to and employed this method too late to save their store). Thus, the vast majority of female garments in Pro Bundles is highly impractical because fashion (what's cool) trumps comfort. Consider Kate Beckinsale in platform heels and dominatrix gear killing werewolves. It strains credulity, yes. But I saw Prince in concert regularly dancing, jumping, running, climbing speakers, and doing splits in four inch heels like it was nothing. So, it can be done.

  • I agree that their are too many "Panty Outfits"  Don't get me wrong panties, leotards and swimwear are legitamate articles of clothing with specialised uses, but in the real world they are sold as what they are perhaps the same should be true for the 3D world?

I'm still a Genesis 1 User,  as my needs vaule versitility over detail.

I'm really digging this current sale for the discount of a number of casual/ formal wear available for the Gen 2 ladies. But as someone who doesn't really mind the slutwear, put me down as someone who would like to see more practical swimwear (more surface area) and sports bras/ shorts. And for each high heel, at least provide the practical option.

Yes I love some of the old G1 stuff and am still using it, (as well as some Genesis humanoids like aliens and the Minotaur and so on). It seems that during the G1 period there was quite some proturberance of creativity among the makers, I mean we even got a Matador outfit!!

  • Gotta say if you want to put older stuff on Genesis 3, the Wear Them All sets by VAlzheimer can't be beat. I got the M4 version of Major Cache onto Girl 7 without a hitch and it in general really expands Genesis 3's available library by a considerable amount.

That's on my list, but since I don't use G3 yet (haven't been able to afford enough alternate G3M skin textures) I haven't picked them up yet.

The all important question - how does it handle skirts?

80% of the content is skimpwear, and 90% of the content created is for females. I mean up until just this past 60 days, G3M has been utterly ignored, because everyone was too busy making medevil thongs for G3F...

I mean, if you want to talk about the most sexist, age biased, community to have ever of existed in modern history, , that objectifies women it would be the 3D content creaters of modern art.

There is hardly any content for kids or kid friendly matieral at Daz3D? Am I the only one who see's that as strange?....

I mean, part of the reason I started learning 3D was because I wanted to make renders like this.

    https://i.ytimg.com/vi/IHMyjorUOdE/maxresdefault.jpg

But instead everyone is too busy making content, for renders like this

    http://www.daz3d.com/gallery/#images/107631

Not that there is anything wrong with making that stuff, but it's also forced, in some ways, because the only options your left with, @ daz, is thongs bra's, and females... What else are we supposed to do with this content?

and I'm sorry, but making one kid friendly bundle, once every 1-2 years don't justify anything. I appreaciated this bumdle, but I have this feeling that this will be the ONLY bundle to hit Genesis 3. http://www.daz3d.com/little-ones-mega-bundle-for-genesis-3

I think that if you ignored the PC collection, you'd find that Genesis 1's wardrobe was not significantly better than G2 or G3's. Much of the great content for Genesis 1 was down to Ravenhair and the other modelers for the Platinum Club.

We're also being bitten by the fact that with the Genesis series, autofit works well enough to be going on with, often even without the 3rd-party add-ons. It always has been the case that once something was done, unless it was skimpwear, there was a good chance that it wouldn't be rerpeated for at least several generations. There was a fair amount of decent basic clothing made for M3. Much of it never repeated. But with Genesis's 2-year development cycle per generation, I doubt that anyone is going to be wanting to repeat building the same outfit every two years. They'd never have time to build anything new.

There are NEW things? surprise  I guess that depends on one's definition of "new".

I agree, but mainly because Wilmap has so many amazing Genesis outfits. ;)

Agreed.  Not to mention that Gen 3 also had a fantastic selection of kid and teen items.

When you say "functional", do you mean including morphs (open and close, etc) ? Or is it still the case that bringing previous gen clothes in and using Autofit leaves the clothing "dumb"?

There's also Fit Control and that 'make stuff Dynamic' script from Rendo that can really revive the use of older clothing.

It is a set of clones, not clothes templates, so it won't be better than standard autofit for skirts. SY Ultra Templates provide better projection templates

    Autofit does tranfer morphs now.

I'm looking mainly for every day clothes and ran into that problem too. The characters from my books that I'm trying to render don't walk around town in thongs or armor.

There are PA's making some great every day sets lately. Aave's work beautifully (the coveralls are great and versatile, as are the shirt, pant and versatile dress sets), and I've seen a few others featured in the last few weeks. I've picked up some great male items from Sickleyield, Uzilite, and outoftouch, to name a few. I've added quite a few to my wishlist in the last few days with the release of Guy 7. Lots of nice, everyday male stuff coming out, which is wonderful. Sometimes it's actually harder to find every day clothes for the women, even though there are so many female outfits. If they're modest and versatile, they're either jumping in my cart or on my wishlist.

Uniforms can be hard to find. I used Wear Them All to get an M4 firefighter uniform onto a G3F and G3M. Will probably have to use the older police uniforms as well, though it looks like there's a security one for G2M.

You're right about the kids clothes. It's hard to find sets that are modest enough to put on a little girl if you age a character backwards with the aging morphs. Thankfully some of the free items available, such as Wilmap's and the items on ShareCG and other free sites, can fill in the gaps.

I had to convert a male stripper outfit from genesis 1 a few weeks ago, they haven't made those in a long time and I found it useful. More undies for the guys!

Too true. The vast majority of what my G2F/G3F girls wear comes from either Genesis or G2M.

Yeah, modest clothing for Kids is needed, and by modest, I don't mean a rollback to 1922.

    http://posercontent.com/sites/default/files/products/140404/1106/50039s-dress-for-daz-studio.jpg

I loved this outfit, because I can acutally see a kid wearing this, without it being cheesy.

    http://www.daz3d.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/960x1248/17f82f742ffe127f42dca9de82fb58b1/k/a/kaitey-for-kids-4-large.jpg

Unfortunatly items like this are so super rare it's disheartning for artists like myself who are forced to deal with the left overs of slutwear, to find something cute enough to pass as believable, without being offencive to my veiwers. A lot of my renders, are trick photogrophy to hid how slutty the outfit acutaly is...

    I.E http://www.daz3d.com/gallery/images/104603

Even my avatar, the shirt she is wearing, the bottom half is a belly shirt, fishnet... While it's harmless, it can also be taken the wrong way. lol

The point I am trying to make isnt that I want to end skimpwear. I'm not going to lie, I make adult orentated renders myself once in a while, but it by far, not the only thing I have an interest in. Some diverity in gender, age groups, and genre is servely needed. I wanted to make a cute render of Skyler and her brother, but instead we got a rehashed version of skyler called Rayn... Another female... There isnt even 1 kid boy for G2M... Not one... Think about that for a second. Not... One.. Single... Male, boy... Nor clothing to fit one. I had to literally create my own skin mats and morph from scratch, to make this render. http://www.daz3d.com/gallery/images/100625/

While it was fun and challenging, it also awoke me to the realization that the content creaters @ Daz are overly in favor of 25 year old females, in sexy outfits, and make virtually nothing else...

I wanted to make some old folk, around 55... The only thing I have is HD morphs, but all my skins are that of 22yo girls.. that don't click. Nor does it look natural to put her in an outfit meant for a 22 year old super model. I was happy to find meemoo http://www.daz3d.com/fwsa-memoo-hd

But how many aged women are there? Just this one? Where is the G2M version? What she never got merried? lol... This is what I mean folks... It's just WAY too narrow minded.

This is sad folks... Sad indeed.

To any content creaters who read this. I'm not trying to be mean, by any means. I'm trying to get you to realise, your creating a very small circle of possability... And that is not what "Art" is supposed to be about. Art is supposed to be about being open minded. However, the path ya'll are taking is beyond close minded... It's gotten rediculously narrow minded... to the point where your are upsetting your customers. If you care about your sells... I would recommend mixing it up a bit.

I mean that the morphs, for the most part, still work after conversion. If skirts had handles, they are still there, if shirts opened, they still do. What does not work are the figure-and-clothing pose sets. I had a few (mostly from the other store) that came with a set of poses for V4 and corresponding poses for the clothing item.  I tried converting the V4 poses but the clothing poses didn't convert.

This is so true. I have all the aging morphs and vascularity sets from Zev0 for G2F and I make my own older ladies. I have MeMoo and Joanie for G2F but the over 25 age group is almost entirely ignored by DAZ. There's nothing for G3F which is why G2F is still my go-to base figure. Now I don't mind making my own - that is a big part of the fun and I rarely - if ever- use a character "out of the box". But with every iteration of the main base characters we see half a dozen smooth skinned young ladies or fit young men and no base character for the older age groups. Why not offer us Vickie's mum?

I find the skins for someone in their mid-late 30s to late 40s particularly rare. The vast majority of for young females of 25 or under, with a handful of older skins for 55 plus, but almost nothing between those. Just morphing a face to look bit older, but using a young skin, just looks odd imho.

There is very rarely any skins, or morphs, or clothing, or hair or shoes, that part from younger then 18 or older then 30... 99.5% of the content I see @ daz is for 20-27 year olds. out of that 99.5% - 90% of it is for females... Where does that leave any room for diversity or creativty?... It dont... And thats why if I pull up the daz Gallery right now, I know without even looking, that its going to contain on the first page, 20 females, to the one male, and out of that 20... 11 of them are going to be half naked.

I am an animator who's interest is sci fi & marvel comics.
I have found the Genesis 1 model way more useful for the sci fi genre
    particualarly for  sci fi aliens.
and the supersuit is awesome for creating comic book charaters as well.
