Just wanted to say thanks to you for providing, free of charge, Daz Studio. Thank you too for the freebies you've been giving out. And if anyone is tempted to complain that the freebies are encrypted, please just don't. Don't download them if you don't want them. Daz doesn't owe us anything. Do I agree with everything Daz does? Of course not. Do I complain? Sometimes. But ultimately I either just buy, or I don't. (Usually I don't. This is just my hobby, and I'm broke!)
Anyway, just my feeble attempt to post something positive for a change.

Agreed! (And it's nice to see a positive topic for a change. :)) I don't use 4.9 yet, but I really don't mind other people getting free stuff. I get a lot of free stuff too, for 4.8, and I am quite happy about those! So indeed, thanks, DAZ!

In what other realm to vendors give away so much product for free? It has gotten to the point the people expect someone to give them something for nothing; and on a regular basis, too. Where else does someone give YOU a present on THEIR birthday?
And how about we keep this thread just for those people who do have positive things to say? The negative threads have their place (all over the place).
Hey, every smart business gives customers presents on said business´birthday. I do. Talk about how to get loyal customers ...

I appreciate the Freebies from Daz, Vendors & from those that generously take time to post on sharecg etc as without them I probably would never have even tried 3D - I don't mind spending money (I have spent way to much since I found Daz ) but only when I know I can actually use the stuff I am spending it on, Freebies give everyone the chance to try things out.
As a Website Owner, I also give presents to my site members on my Birthday - Xmas & just about any other celebration you can think of as its a good way to get loyal customers and to get people logging in to look at what is for sale but that said its nice when someone notices & says thanks for whats available .
Yep, my reaction to extra freebies has been "Yay, extra freebies!"
I agree always love the freebies. I downloaded the encrypted freebies, just in case I ever upgrade to 4.9
I've also been happy with the stuff I've paid for over the years. I hope DAZ has been happy with my money. I hope all that continues. Trade is good.
I said this before in another thread. Not sure which one. But I think Daz is a decent company. They make the best models (at least for my taste). They always stand behind their ads, even if it promised something they didn't intend. (I got an extra discount on Michael 7 when he was released, if I bought Scott. They removed that extra discount from the ad, but they still gave the discount to those of use who had already purchased Scott.) They often give us deep discounts on their products. They seem to have a better return policy than any other business I can think of, even though I have never availed myself of it. (Most companies won't let you return software or movies if they are opened unless defective.) They give us a great program...Daz Studio...for free. (I did pay for it originally, but over all I don't think I could complain much.)
Yeah Daz is a fun thing to do in my free time. Dont care for the other drama people want to make.
I got to agree with all of the thanks and good things mentioned. Even though a few things over the past year or so have made me a bit unhappy, and feel "left out in the cold" (I'm a Carrara user), in general Daz is quite good. I'd be very happy if I only used DS.
Product quality in general is great, their CS people are outstanding, prices are quite good, and there are typically enough good usable free items to make the PC very worth while.

Thanks for starting this thread Wwes, it's nice to hear from the people who aren't complaining for a change. :)
I may not agree with every decision DAZ makes either, but I always try to keep in mind that DAZ is absolutely vital to the 3D hobbyist community. It's their figures, both Generation 4 and the three iterations of Genesis that virtually all of us rely on, and for a large number of users who cannot afford a large or more complex 3D package, the free DAZ Studio is their window to the world of 3D art. Other 3D stores do not offer a 30-day unconditional refund, they don't offer sales and discounts as often as DAZ, and their products are of much more varying degrees of quality. DAZ even listens to and attempts to work with customers that consistantly find fault with everything and are satisfied with nothing...sometimes far more than they should in my opinion.
Ultimately though, without DAZ, many of us would not be making art at all. That's why I'm thankful for them.
+1 I'm not sure why I bother browsing the other stores, I never find anything that I'd want, except for a few things OOT sells elsewear.
I really have to agree on that. It makes it seem a little more like the old fun days. The last time I remember something like that happening was a few years ago when DAZ_Jared would stop in.
Let's remember to keep this discussion on the positive, and not on other forum members with whom you disagree.
In support of Daz's choice to break encription after 12 months, I joined the Platinum club...I was amazed at the stuff on my wishlist that was on sale for like 2.99! Beautiful stuff like Night guard and it's texture sets. I had never paid attention to the adds...but wow...thanks Daz!
And I would have never been able to get into 3 d without this free software, because I'm a painter in rl, and don't make much$$. For that, I'll always be thankful to Daz-whatever direction they choose in the future, they opened the door for me.
I would like to thank wwes for simply thanking DAZ. So nice to see someone being positive about their efforts.
Good for you,
Barry
I may take issue with some decisions, and have had technical issues that frustrated me greatly but DAZ has always been fair and reasonable.
They're really good about doing special offers, free stuff, etc. And the Platinum Club is one of the best bargains in the market. All in all it's the best store in this market.
Without Daz i never could find this interesting world of
3D and I thank for the free items and program. Daz is easy to use and it has gave for me new way to do things. Thank you.
Greetings,
In my normal life, I'm a pretty hard-core logical thinker, focused on exacting details, and keeping large complex systems in my head. I have to manage a constant pressure between human requirements and what the machine can do that's surprisingly stressful.
DAZ Studio gives me an outlet to toy with the way light lands on a face, or dappled shadows fall on a clearing. It lets me explore an artistic side that a fine motor coordination dysfunction keeps me from outside of the digital realm. When the systems and the logic and the stress becomes overwhelming, I can retreat into a world where I can render a calm moment...a sad moment...a moment of release...and while I still focus on the details, I can let it be about what feels good, not an objective best. It doesn't have to be perfect, something about it just has to strike my heart the right way.
And that software is free, and regularly upgraded (sorry Carrara, Bryce, Hexagon users!), and being continually improved with amazing systems like Iray. Free and incredibly inexpensive items fall out of the Platinum Club regularly, and just in general. If I'm mostly broke, I can still look forward to Wednesday/Thursday when PC+ items come out for a discount that makes them affordable even when I'm out of work.
It's easy to find things to get upset at, once you take the things that are amazing as 'writ'. A comedian pointed this out with regards to flying across the country... We complain about the small seats, the food, the wait, but we miss the fact that we just miraculously flew across a huge country...in the air...in a few short hours! Occasionally we need threads like this to remind us, what we get to play with...for free...is pretty amazing. We shouldn't take it for granted.
I'm thankful for DAZ Studio, and DAZ the company.

I am thankful for continued innovations. I stopped upgrading the other platform because I did not percieve useful innovations there. I am very happy with the Studio platform and I appreciate the creativity and drive that keeps it moving forward. I can't wait to see what's next.
A Present for The Company Daz3D,
for the great program Daz-Studio.
Thanks
