V4 and M4 Skins Auto Converters and Daz Studio 4.9

Has anyone else had problems getting the V4 and M4 Skins Auto Converters working in Daz Studio 4.9 general release. The items descriptions say that they are compatable with Studio 4.9 but when I attempt to convert a texture all that happens is the UV gets changed to M4 or V4 UV depending on which script I am trying and that results in the base texture which is still applied to the figure being all screwed up. Any assistance on this issue would be appreciated.

I just tried the M4 version and it failed exactly as you describe.
Is your M4 content Connect installed? Just wondering, mine is. That might be an issue with the script.
I just tried again, after re-installing an M4 texture via DIM... still failing. So its not about Connect. Something else is broken, we should probably open a ticket on this.
Yeah opening a ticket is probably a good idea, if I recall correctly, I tried it back when 4.9 was still in beta and got the same results. I decided to wait until general release and see if it worked then. I can confirm that it was working in 4.8 though. I'll see about submitting a ticket though I am not sure that I still remember my password for doing so. Unless they have merged it with regular accounts now.

Okay I submitted a ticket regarding this issue. Hopefully someone will respond soon.

I tried this with one of the M4 Elite textures and it worked for me. I only tested the one file. Not sure if that matters at all. The script said it was successful. All most all of my content was installed with DIM. I've only started installed my new purchases over the last two weeks with Daz Connect. So the script and the M4 texture that tested it on were all installed with DIM.
After I re-read the posts above, I went back and tried a second texture. Another one of the Elite textures that I hadn't converted yet. It said it converted successfully. I then loaded Genesis 2 Male into my scene and applied the converted texture to Genesis 2 and it looked OK to me. I didn't text render it though.
I just remembered there are two scripts that do similar things. Don't recall what the difference is. I have the Batch convertor. It has icon with a group of guys on it...ala Kojak. (I think the were all bald.) I find it under Scripts.
I transfered a bunch of V4/M4 textures a few days with DS4.9 with Windows 8.1 and they worked fine. I don't have Connect active on DS4.9 though... dunno if that makes a difference.
Hmmm well... It could be a couple of things then. Maybe connect is messing it up due to files being encrypted or something or perhaps the batch converter is working okay but not the auto converter. It was the auto converter that I was posting about.
Charles
I doubt it is encryption causing the problem, for two main reasons:
1) The script converts M4/V4 mat files which are poser format and so would not be encrypted
2) No M4/V4 skin products are encrypted.
More likely, if the products have been installed via DAZ Connect, it is the position/layout of the files that are causing the issues
It just occured to me that it couldn't be connect interfering with some of the textures because they were things from Renderosity that I installed via zip files. Those things have no encryption or anything else that should interfere. Well, I am afraid I didn't answer anything, I just came up with more questions in this post.

Well, I don't know about the Auto Converter, as I have the Batch Converter, but have you checked the file type? I know the batch converter only works with certain file types that were listed on the product page. Maybe the Auto Converter is the same way. The first time I tried to use it, I found a texture in my library and ran the Batch Converter but nothing happened. That's when I found out about the file types amd as luck with have it, the first file I picked was not one of the file types that the script worked with. (It was some kind of poser file type that I had never heard of before.) It does work with pz2 files. And that's what the M4 Elite textures were.
I checked and all of the skins that I have tried to convert have been in pz2 format. I am not sure what else to try at this point Maybe I just need to get the batch converters next time they are on sale.
Charles
I just tested the Auto Converter in 4.9 with no issue.
If you could...
Load Genesis 2
Clear the log files by Going to: Help->Troubleshooting->View Log Files. Empty the file and save it.
Run the Auto Convert script.
If it doesn't work, then please post what's in the log file so I can see if there are any errors.
And quick question: Are these pz2 files located as part of your Content Library? They need to be so that Daz Studio can find the textures.
Okay DragonStorm I did all that you said and Got the same result as before. It seems that all the script is doing is changing the UV to V4's UV and leaving the Genesis 2 texture in place so that it appears all distorted and not fitting properly until I change the UV back to something Genesis 2. This is what was in the log file after running the script:
WARNING: libpng warning: iCCP: known incorrect sRGB profile WARNING: libpng warning: iCCP: known incorrect sRGB profile

Thanks,
Charles
I do see that the script has been installed to your My Daz Connect Library where I still have the script in My Library which could be part of your issue (?)
Are the V4 textures you are trying to use, in a path that has been setup in your Content Directory Manager: Poser Formats?
Ahhh okay so you manually installed the script, I will try that and see what happens.
Charles
I manually installed the scripts to My Library and well the V4 auto converter works but but the M4 one is still giving me the same wacked out results as before.
Charles
Okay I finally got the M4 script working as well. It turns out that I didn't have the Daz Connect install cleaned out because I couldn't find it the first time around. I found it and cleaned it out and re-installed the manual install just to be safe and now everything is working as it should. This product just doesn't seem to like Daz Connect at all, I wonder if that will be a thing with all scripts or just this one?
Charles
Maybe a silly question but... this will just batch convert pz2 to duf, correct? If so, with the new script out over at Rosity I need this bad! LOL
Sassy I am not sure about the batch converter but the auto converter basically places the skin that you choose onto the G2 figure and you would then have to save it out in duf format I think. You also need this product http://www.daz3d.com/michael-4-for-genesis-2-male and/or this one http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-for-genesis-2-female depending on whether you are converting male or female textures.
Charles
Thanks Charles :)
I have the Batch Converter for M4. You can convert a single file or a whole folder. It will load a figure, apply the texture, save out a duf file and then go on to the next one until it has converted the entire folder if that is what you selected. It didn't used to do the genitals so you had to save them out manually, if you wanted them. But there must have been an update because it looks like it did them too now.
The batch converter doesn't just do pz2. There is a list of file types that it works with on the product page.
Thanks Kevin! :) That's what I thought but I needed to make sure. I got Cayman`s V4 to G3F converter but they need to be in duf so I did about 10 of them manually and it's a pain. LOL
Now do I wait for a sale or pay full price. Impatient much? Like I have nothing else to play with. LOL
I have the M4 Batch converter which I have used in the past but not since the 4.9 update. Now it doesn't work at all. It says it is working and I can see things happening in the viewport (lots of grey figures appearing and disappearing) but nothing is produced in the target folder. I've searched my disks and can't find any converted files.
Is there an updated script I need to download from somewhere?
Here's the tail end of the log file (same errors repeated over and over). Odd thing is that I have not selected Darius nor Doctor Shadow for any conversion - I have no idea where it is getting that from. Seems completely broken to me.
