DAZ and the celebrations of international events and holidays

It is a pity that DAZ always operated the standard holidays, which is celebrated in the United States (Valentine's Day, and Christmas or Haloween).
Why do not you even can consider such things as Chinese New Year? I could imagine, that Genesis 3 Male would look great as the Monkey King with a chinese costume and some morphs for the face and the body. I wonder, that your vendors didn't come on this ideas. But maybe too many time to create and maybe not enough customers for this.

I'm sure DAZ will also forget, that we celebrrate this year the Olympic Games (which was always ignored) or the European Soccer Championship .

I expect more clothes and environments which are current to international events. I hope I'm not the only one, who want this.

  • Seriously, if I could get a Monkey King (Sun Wukong) outfit and props for any of the males I'd be ecstatic.

I remember a couple of years ago (2014) when DAZ did a promotion for the chinese Year of the Horse. I picked up a number of horse goodies on that day,

There was a "year of the goat" sale last year, another one for the year of the horse in 2014, we got a free snake for the year of the snake in 2013, and dragons releases for the year of the dragon in 2012. So obviously they can...

IIRC last year's sale caused quite a bit of complaining as some people didn't like what was included, so it might be the reason why we don't have any special celebration this year. Or maybe they simply forgot ;)

And nothing for Mardis Gras! That was just yesterday, too. See? no matter what subset of holidays a company chooses to celebrate or observe in some way, there will be others that get missed. The company I work for has offices in at LEAST 11 time zones. We constantly have to deal with, "We can't schedule the conference call for that week because XYZ-istan has a national holiday."

is there a Benton Harbor Day?

  • I have asked Moyra last year for a "Princess of Mardi Gras"-gown for the MFD. She has liked the idea, but it looks like she has forget it too.

Why not a french Marianne with her typical Phrygian cap for Bastille Day.

All I know about Australia Day is that there most people go to the beach and their is always a lot of beer. :) (Got my knowlegde about the Australia Day unfortunetely from the german version of "I'm a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!").

Historical costumes are always welcome, so why not a kind of bishop costume to honour St. David (welsh patron, right?) or other saints.

Over the years I have been deeply traumatized by DAZ's lack of interest in celebrating many of my favorite holidays... Granted they recognize Christmas and Halloween and that one with the leprechauns and the other one with the drinking and explosions... But the rest.. Pffft, the hell they care... And that hurts... Mostly because I fell out of my chair about a sentence or two ago, but also because my keys were in my back pocket too, but a little bit because I was thinking of all the great opportunities for sales and drinking there are... Here is my short list:

    January:

14- Dress Up Your Pet Day

    16- Dragon Appreciation Day

    21- Squirrel Appreciation Day

    February:

12- Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter's Birthday

20- Love Your Pet Day... Not in the biblical sense.

23- International Dog Biscuit Appreciation Day

    27- Polar Bear Day

    March:

    1- National Pig Day

    12- World Kidney Day

    15- Ides of March

    20- Attila The Hun's Birthday

    21- Jabba the Hutt's Birthday

    April:

    7- National Beer Day

    9- Winston Churchill Day

14- Pohela Boishakh- Bengali New Year

    15- Titanic Remembrance Day

    25- World Penguin Day

    May:

    4- Star Wars Day

6- International No Diet Day... Eat like a friggin pig day.

9- International Lost Socks Remembrance Day

    14- National Train Day

    25- Towel Day... Don't panic.

    26- Tap Dance Day

27- National Tap Dance In Front Of A Speeding Train Day... Combines Train day and Tap Dance day into one convenient holiday.

    June:

    3- National Donut Day

4- Hug Your Cat Day... Just like every other day...

21- International Yoda Day... Or Yoga... One of those.

24- Take Your Dog To Work Day... And have him do your work for you too.

    27- Paul Bunyan Day

    July:

    2- World UFO Day

    14- International Nudity Day

    15- Cow Appreciation Day

    22- International Ratcatcher's Day

    29- National Lasagna Day

    August:

12- Genghis Khan's Birthday... Approximately- disputed

    18- Bad Poetry Day

    26- National Dog Day

    30- Frankenstein Day

    31- Caligula's Birthday

    September:

    3- Ivan The Terrible's Birthday

5- International Bacon Day... Alternate day

19- International Talk Like a Pirate Day... Aaaarrrr!

    22- Elephant Appreciation Day

    23- Dogs In Politics Day

    23- Kublia Khan's Birthday

    24- International Rabbit Day

    27- Oktoberfest Begins

    28- World Rabies Day

    October:

    2- Oktoberfest Ends

    9- Leif Erikson Day

    23- National Mole Day

    November:

    4- King Tut Day

    5- Gunpowder Day

    12- Vlad The Impaler's Birthday

    19- World Toilet Day

    24- Evolution Day

    December:

5- Repeal Day... No more prohibition!

    14- International Monkey Day

    23- Festivus

30- International Bacon Day... Alternate day... Celebrate both.

These days are all very special in their own way and I probably didn't make any of them up (check them out if you like, because I've forgotten what half of them are about)... I think if we all wish very hard, one day Soon™ DAZ will listen to our pleas and give us what we are asking for just like with DRM and Encrypted Content... Okay, bad example... Just like with Bryce 8, Hexagon 3 and Carrara 9... Okay, even worse example... Umm... Forum themes?...  That signing in and out thing...?...  Adjustable nipples!  Somebody must have asked for those, and we got them... Right?   See... Good things come to those who have faith in unseen forces... And unless there is an adjustable nipple fairly, I think this could happen... Wait... Is there an adjustable nipple fairy?... Probably not, that sounds like something I just made up... Anyway... You know what... Maybe we don't need DAZ to recognize any of these great holidays... Maybe we should just celebrate them on our own... Mostly by drinking and overeating.... Actually, I'm gonna make up my own holiday for today... "Go Ahead And Ignore Us Day"... Or maybe "Who Needs Your Stupid Acknowledgement Day"... I don't know, that might need some work... I was gonna say "Get stuffed, I'm havin a beer day", but that just seemed even more disjointed and besides, I've already had several... Well, time to overeat too now...  I've really lost interest in this topic and there is beer all over my mouse pad that I'm gonna have suck out before it dries... Later!

I feel really bad for Genghis Khan, having his birthday disputed.  That really brings down the party mood.  They don't dispute Attila the Hun's birthday, or Caligula's.  Admittedly, disputing anything with Caligula was historically not a wise move.

If it's National Beer Day, are you required to imbibe only domestic beers?

  • StezzaStezza Posts: 8,747

I suppose...but for being in the backwoods of WV, there are a surprising number of very good 'other' beers available...the small local breweries (some call them microbrews...).

But April has only 30 days - 30/4/16 is as close as it gets without adding two more months to the end of the year.

You're reading the date wrong for this. :)  Though it does make more sense in a day/month/year form.  But March 14, 2016 works quite well.  Last year made cream pies and suprised the kids with a pie to the face at 9:26

One of many instances where the american date order is superior ;)

(Okay to be fair its the only one I can think of, they're pretty interchangable)

By the way, happy "Don't Cry Over Spilled Milk Day" to everyone!
