Daz Connect and a bundle...

So I bought some new items and I also picked up Jepe's Shiny Sheets II bundle as a sale item. I have started installing new content using Daz connect. Not sure the best way to do this. But the easiest way I have found is to write down the names of all the products I have purchased and then search for them in the product window and then install them. There is that available tab, but nothing ever shows up there for me. In any case, when I searched for the shiny sheetz II, there were other products that displayed besides the one that I wanted. Most of them had BUY underneath. I saw the Shiny Sheetz II icon and I clicked to INSTALL. After I clicked and the install began, I noticed another icon for the shiny sheetz. Turns out the one I clicked on to install was the shiny sheetz for Micheal 6 and Gianni 6. The second one I saw was for the bundle (which is the one I actually purchased). Then there was a third for Michael 4.

After the one I originally clicked on installed, I tried clicking on the bundle, but nothing happens. (There is a message about updating metadata, and 2 succeeded and 1 failed.) Then I clicked on the one for Micheal 4 and again nothing happens except I get the message about updating metadata and 1 failed.)

NOTE: I have been getting this metadata message everyday for about a week every time I open Daz Studio. The numbers vary. Some times there are 17 updates, and 1 or 2 fail, etc.

So what does this mean? Does it mean the bundle has been installed? I can't seem to find the sheetz for M4. Maybe they are there and I just can't find them. I did search my content library and it did not find them. But it does find the ones for Michael 7.

Or should I just install the Michael 4 through the DIM?

Thanks.

  • Michael 4 has to be installed through DIM at this time. There's some kinda script that runs that Connect can't do yet if I recall. Same goes for V4 and other generation 4 bases

The generation 4 figures use ExP system to add morph 'hooks' to the base, this system requires that all morphs be installed to the same location as the base.  DAZ Connect installs each product in its own sub folder under the cloud folder thus breaking ExP.

Well, I ended up installing the Shiny Sheetz for M4 through the DIM. I could not get it to install through Daz Connect. (Or if the product was there through Daz Connect, I sure as heck couldn't finde it. But I see it in the smart content now that I used the DIM.) So far I have mixed feelings about Daz Connect. Maybe I just haven't used it enough to understand it, but I'm definitely NOT in love with it yet.

  • Well Shiny Sheetz for M4 is showing Connect enabled so it should have shown up in your available. However, over the last few weeks I've bought a couple of bundles and combined orders where only some of the the stuff appeared in Connect "Available" even though everything was Connect enabled. I used DIM in the end for those, as you did. I posted about it somewhere and was advised to raise a ticket, but by that time I'd got a bit confused about the facts so I thought I would wait until my next multi-order. As it happens everything turned up in my last order, but I will continue to monitor.

Like you, my experience has resulted in mixed feelings, but I actually like Connect and I will persevere with it. I think those of us who are having problems like this should be encouraged to raise tickets about it. I know there are going to be improvements in a hot fix for 4.9 and it is now in beta so it's a good time to let DAZ know about our problems.

Thanks for your response, Hiro. Like you, I will probably perserver with it as well. I'm sure that some of the problems I am having are user error. And I may fuss and fume at times, but I don't give up easily.

I could see Shiny Sheetz for M4 when I searched for shiny in the product view at the bottom and it had the word install beneath it. I could also see one for the bundle and one for M6 and Gianni 6. Maybe it was because I had installed M6 and Gianni 6 as that was the first one I saw. But I had bought the bundle which included both products. Afterwards, I tried to install the bundle and then the one for just M4. But neither of the second two seemed to do anything when I tried to install them.

Maybe I should have uninstalled the M6 and Gianni 6 shiny sheetz and then tried installing the bundle. But at the time I didn't know you could uninstalled a product installed Daz Connect. But I have since found that it is possible. Now if I can only remember how to do it if I ever need to do it in the future.

I submitted a help desk ticket for this issue now.

I have the Vintage boxing bundle. If I search for it in the product view, it brings up the bundle. It says install under it. If I click on install, I get a message in the lower left corner that says: "Metadata failed. Two items were successful and 1 item failed."

If I search for the individual parts in the bundle, I am able to install the Vintage Boxing outfit, Vintage Boxing Manager outfit, and the Vintage Boxing Props. However, Marcel for Genesis 2 will not install. I get that same error that says: "Metadata failed. Two items were successful and 1 item failed."

Also, what do I have to do to get these products to show in the available tab. If I have Genesis 2 selected in my scene and I select figure, shouldn't I see Marcel in the Available tab? I suppose I would have to pick wardrobe and props in order to see the other parts. I guess you wouldn't see the bundle in the Available tab because it doesn't belong to any category, but many.

Yes, Marcel should appear if you have G2 selected in your scene. However, I tend to have the "Filter by Context" box unticked by default so that all content is shown regardless of what I have selected in the scene. I usually then use the Filter by Context to cut down the displayed products when there is far too much to wade through, and that is fine as long as I can see what I'm looking for—if not I will turn it off again. On the whole FbC works fine, though. When it apparently doesn't work it's usually some misunderstanding on my part.

I hope support can resolve your problems, and if so, please let us know what the cause was in this thread.
