Stop calling it weekly freebie..

It's anything BUT free as long as you need to make a purchase first. Call it what it is, a bonus for buying something.

Those of us who have learned to live with marketing tricks by mild kvetching about them will survive, and if we get over it we will be well on the path to achieving nirvana.  But the marketers will join the lawyers, politicians, and used car salesmen in that special place in hell.

I have a new freebie idea for Daz!

I've been misled all my life — I thought they were all given a special, one time only, personalised free offer of a seat on the B-Ark.

You forgot to add those people running the "We're from Windows Support and we're a Microsoft Business Partner" scam.

I do this too.  In fact, I sort from highest to lowest cost, because bundles often pop up here.  They are more and more often not a good deal (if you sum all of the parts separately and compare to the bundle cost, that is), but still worth a few minutes of my time.  After reviewing that list, I sort from lowest to highest to see if there's anything free that I don't already have.

It's free with purchase.... This is standard business practice. Anytime you see "FREE", you had better be looking for the fine print- no matter where you are or what you are doing. Nothing is truly free. However, this doesn't bug me as much as the "free model daily" ads I see all over the place... Lol.

I'd buy that more if Daz didn't also have ACTUALLY free stuff and an entire forum of Freebies.

So when they start calling stuff Freebies but it's not actually a freebie, I get a bit frowny.

Fun trick for those. Put your hand over the mouthpiece of the phone and shout "We've got one, start tracing the call!". I've yet to have one not hang up... Also fun, talking in random ominous gibberish taken from HP Lovecraft... Pretty much once they called you, they're fair game for whatever entertainment you feel like having at their expense.
