When was your first Daz purchase?

Just curious how long people have been in this, mine was Michael 2.0 back in December 2001.

Double checked and that's the oldest one period besides Poser itself not that much before.

    Aiko 3.0, November 2004.

But I was in 3D art LONG before that (using Imagine, POV-Ray, Poser 2, and a host of other tools...Wrote my own first 3D wireframe rasterizer back in 86.)

Mine was Glamorous Vicki Set for Victoria 3.0 – 6 Nov, 2005, but I wasn't new to 3d, I was doing game mods for several years before. My SIMS2 design partner told me about Poser and after buying a copy and playing around with the poser figures, I was hooked and then found DAZ not long after.

First purchase was actually free.. Daz Studio December 30, 2005.  First thing I paid for was The Sentinels of the Forest that March 1, 2006.

September 12, 2005 - V3 and M3 base (free), V3 Head and Body Morphs, and a PC membership. And then a raft of PC items, also on September 12.

I had recieved the original promo flyer for Poser - and thought "Who is going to pay $99 to manipulate an electronic version of an artist's wooden manikin?" Some time later, in a forum that no longer exists, there were two posts, back-to-back. DAZ was offering V3 and M3 for free; and Poser 6 was out, Amazon had copies of Poser 4 at fire-sale-prices, and Poser 4 to Poser 6 upgrades were quite inexpensive.

And the savings account has not been the same since.

ETA - and I never really managed to figure out Poser enough to actually do anything with it. :-)

I'm loving the memories of when I first got some of these older figures. Tempted to download Victoria 2 and Michael 2 and some stuff from then and see how good I can make them look with new tools and Iray materials...

Took me forever to change to studio. Nowadays I can really see how weird some of the UI in Poser really is. There were some useful bits. I still miss automatic hand and head cameras. But some of it was just odd compared to nearly every other piece of software except perhaps Bryce. They always seemed to have a similar design...

  • December 2001 Victoria's changing ponytail bundle but earlier in 2001 a Victoria 1 CD bundle. I wonder if I still have that. LOL

The probelm is that was many machines ago and an ISP/email account that no longer exists...as in the ISP ceased doing business years ago.

I know that I grabbed some really old freebies well before Studio 1 was out, because I was planning on getting Poser then...so  some time before 2005?

Downloaded Daz Studio (what was it, 1.8?) back on July 4 of 2006.  The next day, I bought a PC membership, M3, V3 and their morphs.

All because I didn't want to wait and save up for Poser.

Earlier than that, I think my first version was 1.6 in Nov 2007.

    March 25, 2012, Aiko 3.0 Professional Bundle.

And I just realized while looking through my order history that I'm missing A4... I really need to fix that so I have a complete set :P

  • Mine was Safari Bundle in 2011, although I think I picked up Bryce and DAZStudio before even knowing there was such a thing as "Content". My first works were in Bryce, composed out of primitives and using different shaders.

First products I bought were SP3, her starter pack and SP3 MFD, in June 2004. I had bought a monthly PC membership before that.

Like Cris  my first purchase was so long back that it doesn't even show on my Purchase History.  My first shown purchase is for V2 Fantasy wrap in 2001,  but I have no order showing when I actually bought V2 or V1,  just a couple of orders that show i spent money, but no list of what I bought.

Anyone know when the Costume shop CD was in the store, I still have that.

My first paid item purchase was Griffin Wings on May 11, 2013.

  • First purchase was back in 2003, I believe. It was a zebra texture for the zygote horse. That was shortly after I purchased Poser 4 and I think it was Bryce 3 or 4, back in the days of dial-up internet and I would purchase CDs for the content. It spiralled out of control once I discovered Michael and Victoria 2&3.

Michael 1 CD. According to my order history back in may 2001. It is also the time when I began to use 3D software halfway seriously.
