I am trying to use Daz Studio 4.9 on start up I get a message saying Resource error could not open the start up scene got the same when using 4.8 this is where it stared to go wrong, I got help telling me what to do here
Please go to Edit > Preferences > Startup, and make sure that 'Load File' is checked. Enter the path to the base Genesis file, whiich should be in :c/user/Debbie/Documents/Daz3D/Studio/My Library/People/Genesis/Genesis.dsf
My problem is my People/Genesis/Genesis dsf folder is not there I have a bad feeling I deleted it by mistake can this be fixed?

Reinstall the Genesis Starter Essentials...
Actually reisntalling won't help - it's looking for the pre-DS 4.5 .dsf user file, not the 4/5+ .duf user file.
Unless you want to auto-load the original Genesis I would suggest simply unchecking the auto-load option in Preferences. If you do later decide you want a file to load on startup (to set up your default cameras and lights perhaps) you can re-enable the option and use the browse button to select the scene you want. Theer is a similar option in the Scene tab that is triggered by File>New, though it defaults to Off anyway.
Thank you for your help the both of you, I did try the reinstall and it did nothing but was worth a try. Richard thank you I have unchecked the auto load option and I do not get that message now :) Can I just ask one more question my comp has an intergrated graphics and the system only runs 4GB of ram, I see for Daz 4.9 they recommend between 2 to 4 GB of memory for GPU on its own should I be buying a graphics card with memory to help me run this as when I start to render it crashes and I was told maybe I havent got enough memory sorry I sound a little dumb just getting use to Daz again it has changed so much.
If you machine has only 4GB of RAM you will be very limited in what you can do anyway - more system RAM may be a better investment. Also, a machine old enough to have only 4GB may not have a hefty enough power supply to handle a significantly beefier GPU. What are the rest of your system specifications, if you know?
ummmm Not sure what this means but it says Porcessor Intel(R) Core (TM) 2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz 2,33GHz
Installed memory (RAM) 4.00 GB (3.24GB usable)
32bit operating system ...Widows 7
I need to get a better comp hey
If you are running 32-bit Windows, more than 4 GB is not going to help anything, as Windows won't even see more than that.
So what would I need to run both daz and poser in the ideal world?
If you have a 32 bit OS you won't be able to use Iray anyway, as it is included only with the 64 bit version of DS. I'm afraid that your options are probably limited.
A 64-bit operating system with a minimum of 8 GB of memory (preferrably 16 or 32 GB) and a minimum quad core CPU (preferrably an i7 or FX9xxx).
It is not so much I want to use iray as I know that is for a 64bit but would love to run both Poser and daz and I know on the system there is fat chance soooo what if I am going to buy a new comp would I be looking for?
Thank you mjc if I move to 64bit can I still run the programs I have...Daz studio, Photoshop etc
Yes, but to get the most out of them, you'll need to install the 64-bit versions (not sure how that goes in Poser, but DS it is just a matter of downloading the 64-bit installer/telling DIM to use that one).
Thank you both so much you have been fantastic, I think I will keep this comp and use psp and photoshop etc for post work and get something more up to date for Poser and Daz as it is what I love doing it will be worth it in the end that solves that lol Thanks again my friend I appreciate you both taking the time to explain it to me it was driving me nuts :)
