It's always interesting when you get to have a conversation with a stranger about mutual interests :) Sorry to hear about your stepmother. I'm an author, but not sure I've had many wows or woes lately. Had a pretty good year last year on the writing front, but have barely written a thing this year.

    The year is young.

Successful is such a weird concept. Once upon a time I wrote and published books, and I got asked that a lot. I never made anywhere near enough to support myself, so I suppose a lot of folk would say I wasn't.

On the other hand, I had people track me down and tell me the books made a positive difference in their lives... so ultimately, I think they did what they needed to do in the world. I'd call that a success.

And now I write just for myself, and it brings me joy, and I'm no longer stressed out over whether it's good enough or not. I'd call that a success, too.

I heard a comedian describe "rich" as something like, "If you suddenly had a lot more money, would you do anything differentlly? If you'd continue doing what you're alreay doing, then you're already rich".

Financial feedback aside, when it comes to creating "art", I think "success" is pretty much the same. If you're happy doing what you're doing and wouldn't change what you're doing if you suddenly had a huge influx of new readers or viewers, then I'd consider you a success.

Hey you gu-u-u-ys (plagerisism from goonies lol) I believe success is found in deeds and actions we do that nobody ever sees. Like feeding a hungry animal. Telling a tired cashier what a great job s/he is doing. Making a kid smile. Making someone else feel important. Yet, there are so many woes and wows to being an artist a creator a photographer a parent and a writer. Think  I will change the title to include those. Like a support group for all. We share . . . we learn. I will be 70 this year. When I was 60 I dissembled a metal shed and folded it in pieces to fit an entire shed into a recycle bin. That made me feel rich lol. But life is like ocean waves we have lulls and pulls.
