The extra discount was nice, but some of the deals are still quite favorable. Others, not as favorable. Still, there are items on my WL that... I can surely live without them, but I want them anyway. And as others have mentioned, the initial batch lingered for quite a long time!
The 20% assist for 3 is handy when I'm scanning the legacy and classic subsections.
I went a little spend-crazy in the first outlet until I set myself a limit. Deals on Vickies and Michaels tugged at me but I resisted. Now that they cost more I'm feeling "hesitation regret", even though I wasn't willing to pay the lower price. It's nothing but a psychological hang-up, but it's annoying. Can anybody else relate?
Hallelujah!
Disciple
@Disciple, if you skipped at the lower price, you probably don't want it that badly. But wait. There will be another time. There always is!
I see some items have the Outlet logo but don't have any discount... is that an error or is it something I'm not understanding?
For example: https://www.daz3d.com/nathanael-for-genesis-8-male
I think items that used to be OS and got dropped are still wearing their OS badges. Guess that's not a database controlled styling feature. Seems like a mistake to do all that by hand. So much extra work!
The new stuff isn't sorting properly by price in the main shop, either.
So, business as usual.
Yeah, pretty much. IIRC it took a few days for everything to get smoothed out last time, too.
I also looked it up and there was a 20% off cart coupon for the first few days last time (which I remember now but had forgotten before looking) so I wouldn't expect that to last, especially since it's not written into the Outlet store banner. I think the prices are just the prices now.
I wonder how that'll work out for them. I have to wonder how many people had three things they really wanted, but then were like "oh, well, if I toss in two more I'll get a discount" vs. "well, I don't have five, so I'm not going to bother getting any."
I wouldn't be surprised if this is some sort of comparison trial.
The 20% discount is possibly coming from this sale page https://www.daz3d.com/everything-is-magic And the fine print is clear on there too. "Discount excludes New Releases, Memberships, Gift Cards, and Licenses." The discount was still in effect as of a couple hours ago when I made a couple of carts, and probably disappears whenever that sale exits the rotation. (1-2 more days?)
There are definitely some newer items labeled as Outlet items that don't show up in the outlet pages, but which still seem to count as Outlet items for intents and purposes. Go to https://www.daz3d.com/new-releases toggle the Only Show Daz+ checkbox, reverse sort by price.
Edit: I like the new Outlet store format - since the discount is static and not tied to cart size, it's a great way to get back into the tokens game if I'm starting from zero.
I really like the new Outlet pricing system, it's just a shame that Daz as website is so poorly managed. Why do a lot of Outlet items still not show the symbol in the corner of their image days after they were added to the Outlet store? Why do previous Oultet items that are no longer in the rotation still have the symbol? Why is the symbol in the same corner as the discount/percentage amount (so it overwrites it and you can't see the amount of discount)?
Put the icon in the top right (and actually put it there for all the items, rather than relying on people reporting all the ones you missed) and then have the percentage discount still in the top left. That seems so simple and obvious. I just want to be able to browse the store and know what discount I'm getting. I also want to be able to tell whether an item is Outlet (and not eligible for other discounts/deals/tokens) or not......that doesn't seem like too much to ask.
I noticed a difference in the way the Outlets are advertised on the website and in the newsletter. The newsletter version doesn't advertise members paying half in the quick grab. I think it might be because of the space/layout in the newsletter, now I'm curious: Daz+/Premier members: do you pay half for both outlet and quick grab or only for the outlet? (not a member, so I can't check myself)
D+ member, have some Quick Grab items for $0.99. So it looks like it, yes.
Cool, thanks for checking!
If you add something to your cart without being a member, wait a couple of second with small cart appearing on the right of your screen and you should see how much you would save if you were a Daz+ member.
As another confirmation, I also did pay half the price on Quick Grab a couple of days ago, before I let my membership lapse.
i was wondering where the $9.99 outlet products were, now I see them. My Premier ended yesterday. They're a huge pass now. It is so apparent that if you shop here at DAZ a lot, it pays to be a member. I rarely buy as a base member. Just too high, including outlet.
The quick grab changes on Monday, is that right?
If they're what you want, some of the $9.99 are a good deal - with a membership.
yes..then they're 4.99
IIRC that's what the email said, but no longer have the email to double check.
K thanks!
Today's sales page (Aug. 10) says, "24 hours before Quick-Grab items rotate." Nothing about Outlet rotating.
That's what I expected. The main store should be there a while. Quick grab should change. Thanks again.
Bundle Bungle (?)
Some of what Outlet does (or how it's managed) is a bit... rubbish
https://www.daz3d.com/filatoon-shader-bundle
Each of those components - which are really brilliant BTW - are in the Outlet (at $1.99). Even though the bundle is currently well discounted... It's an eye-watering 4.75 times the price
:
1.99 * 6 = $11.94 (outlet ... and you could get the 5 discount on top of that as well!) / Bundle: $55.29 (at 30% discount!)
Yeah, I know it pays for a purchaser to look thoroughly... but sheesh!
Thank you for highlighting this information.
Yes, thanks! I've wanted this set for a while. Always happy to get more shaders. Don't forget to "buy" the whole bundle after buying the solo sets so it doesn't keep showing for you.
Agree it's hard to find stuff in Outlet proper. Since my WL is much smaller than the OL selection, I just sort it Low>High to find those deals. Also, if I have individual WL items I know are also bundled, I check the bundle (& vice versa). Still is a bit clunky but better than looking through everything.
PS: what are MATCAP maps?
I'll tell you, I know it's not a feasable option because PAs put in a lot of work and need to be paid accordingly, but I wish the whole store was like this. ;) I've spent more in the Outlet store this month than I usually do in two months before we had it, and being able to get such a variety of content for so little is inspiring me to make things I would not have otherwise. I've made pretty much nothing but fantasy images for 20 years and now I'm actually working on a few modern subjects thanks to all the affordable clothing and poses. Please don't take this rotating selection away.
I am in a state of great puzzlement. When I'm logged in, the number of items is 2690. When I'm logged out, 2706. Either way, when I click on Petipet, it shows 17 items, when I go into his store, there are 37 outlet items. Kindred Arts shows 2 items in the outlet store, 16 outlet items in their store. If I browse through the entire outlet store I don't see the missing items. Is it just me whose computer shows this? I'm using Firefox and W10.
Is it an issue of hiding items you own when you are logged in?
No, I unhid my purchased products and could see them displayed.
