I already have Bricbrake's ISS (now inactive). Is Mely3d's Internatinal Space Station significantly better or more accurate?

Can't speak for Bricabrake's, but Mely3D's is 256 MB (zipped), mostly in textures. The wiki file list for Bricabrake's shows only two texture maps, so I'll assume Mely3D's is more detailed on the surface. Can't speculate on how the geometries compare. I guess it depends on how close-up you want to get.
I did a few using the Bricabrake one, although you can only see parts of it.

I have them both, Charlie. The Mely3D version is definitely worth it if you use Iray, as it loads (slowly) looking realistic from the get go. Plus integration with the Soyuz craft if you have that.
Can't render Mely3D's with GPU if the whole station is loaded as-is. While preparing, it loaded ~24 GB of textures. I guess we'll need to do the usual tricks with these humongous models.
Removing normals from all surfaces, it just fits on my 8GB 1080 with no perceptible loss of detail from a distance. But that doesn't include any background or other objects in the scene, like a planet or starscape.
Even though I have Brickbrake's ISS I decided to get the Mely3D one. I did a quick out of the box test and loaded the complete 2017 station. using a simple HDRI and no other items I was able to render it with my GTX 1080 ti video card -- No Problem. I haven't tried yet to see how much else I can add before rendering reverts to CPU.
Thanks, everybody, for your comments.
