UnderConstruction (PA Health Issue) [Commercial]

Some of you may not be familiar with a new(ish) PA by the name of UnderConstruction -- he had only recently begun releasing products here and he is not the type to say much on the forums. So I doubt anybody is aware of his health situation besides me. Long story short: he recently became very ill and was eventually diagnosed with Cardiomegaly(enlarged heart) -- he was eventually released from the hospital, but is under extremely severe restrictions for the next 90 days (which will be critial to his survival).

I'm posting this here because not only does he have a new product released today, but his whole back catalog is on sale -- if you have any interest in buying any of his products now would be a great time as this medical crisis has eliminated his ability to do any serious work for the foreseeable future as well as hit his family hard with medical bills.

If you care to know more details, a friend of his set up a gofundme for him.

Will be saying prayers for him and his family.  And going to check out his catolog as well. I am sure I can find something I need.

Those poses will be useful for other weapons as well.  Although I am really looking forward to playing with those sci fi ones.  Really cool.  The Razor Spear and poses for it are also really cool, and of course, the poses can be used for any spear or staff.  Not nearly enough weapons poses so I was happy to pick these up.

I posted in the PA forum under this topic but in case he doesn't see that - Get well soon, Rob! Take care of yourself and please try and take it easy. You're in my prayers and I'm sending healing energy your way. heart

  • I sent the link to the thread his way -- hopefully when he is feeling better he can come on and check it out. I know all the help is much appreciated smiley

Great set.  Will also look through his back catalogue.  Thoughts and prayers for a full recovery.

I just saw this (haven't been online much today) and I'll also post a link to this thread in my Art Studio thread. And more than happy to go shopping in his store or do GoFundMe. Hang in there Rob, sending warm hugs from Florida!

Rob posted a video (linked from the GoFundMe)  His heart is operating at THIRTY PERCENT. The video is on YouTube and if you want to post comments to him directly, that would be a good way to do it too.

He has a new product out today- yea!!!!  Sorceress Poses and Props. I love all the hand poses, very practical, and the props look like fun. It's one of the add-ons (if you get three, it drops the Alexandra 8 Pro Bundle price.)

The Sorceress set is a collaboration between UnderConstruction and myself (though I am not listed on the product for some reason) -- it was the last thing he completed as he was getting sick.

Half Life, perhaps you know this...what do the symbols on the Sorceress shields mean? They look like Greek or Cyrillic to me, but I can't read them.

I"m sorry to hear about his health issues.  I hope he does what his doctors say and gets well without any issues.

Some are using a Lord of the Rings Elvish font and some are in the font "symbol" -- in both cases they were constructed to have no metaphysical meaning. In the case of the elvish (the large diagrams) I used Lorum Ipsum. In the case of the symbol font I had a bit of fun role-playing a magician who was jealous of Harry Potter. Not terribly mature or meaningful, but I wanted to avoid anything controversial... however I still wanted them to look cool.

  • I spoke to him today for the first time since getting out of the hospital and as of yesterday he has begun a new treatment plan with much more aggressive medication via some highly regarded specialists. As a result he said he feels much better already -- though he is still very limited, and will be until such a time as the doctors say his tests come back with better results.

Thank you, I appreciate your desire to stay away from more controversial content.

ETA: I have put the set in my cart.

  • I also wanted to let you all know that he was really happy to see all the supportive posts and purchases here at DAZ when we talked yesterday -- he sounded enthused to get back to producing content as soon as he is physically able. So much of recovery depends on having a positive mental outlook, so IMO this is really important.

Just a reminder not to forget about Rob. He needed open heart surgery a month ago, according to the GoFundMe page. In one of his updates, he says, "For those of you going through hardships, just try to keep the faith."  With a wife and two kids, a serious heart condition and unable to work- for this man to be encouraging others says it all about his character. Every little donation helps, and I had to laugh, I used my forum name and last name was "From Daz" (Lol) again,  so he'd know the forum members are still thinking about him. The first post has his GoFundMe page link.

Thank you for the update and the reminder, Novica! And you're right, him taking the time to encourage others while he's going through so much really does say a lot about who he is as a man and the kind soul he is. I hope that he gets well and that others keep him in mind and help him and his family out if they can.

Yeah, I did something. Sad thing. I would have grabbed something from his store, but there's not much that I don't own and I think anything direct does more than waiting on store splits and payouts.

(I sorta assume). Thanks for bringing this back up.

Hi everyone. I guess I can say a bit more about how Rob is doing since his topic was bumped by somebody other than me. As was reported he is currently recovering from major open heart surgery. The recovery process seems to be imrpoving as time goes by and he is slowly getting "back on his feet" so to speak. He has definately not been resting his mind though, as he has put alot of time and mental effort into refining his knowledge of ZBrush while he was unable to work -- so hopefully when he can get back to producing new products for DAZ they will be even better (and feature a greater variety of skills).

He has also been gearing up to start doing short live digital painting video demonstrations as a means of getting himself back into a productive mode after so much time away from creating. Once he has something to announce about times and days I'll update the topic here.

  • Very good news thanks for letting us know and please keep us updated.

Hope he gets well soon! We are losing too many great talented people! I already own two of his products and two more are on my wishlist for when my finances improve. Hoping he will come back stronger than ever and now with new ZBrush talent!

Glad to hear things are moving in the right direction!  I will most definitely be looking forward to watching those videos!

Rob is now on a live streaming schedule, trying to get back in the groove of making art. Obviously, having 6 months away (and not alot of stamina currently) he is pretty rusty, but he is on the path to recovery. If you want to check it out here is his twitch channel: https://www.twitch.tv/robsart
