The Kappa is an amphibious yōkai demon or imp found in traditional Japanese folklore. They are typically green, humanoid creatures with a turtle-like shell on their backs. They have a depression on their head, called its "dish" (sara), which retains water, and if this is damaged or its liquid is lost, the kappa becomes severely weakened.
