  • Rigging doesn't aline properly with blender morph

I'm not entirely following, but baking an existing morph into your own morph is not good practice - quite aside from the fact that you may not sell or share it you are goign to lose any links to joint adjustments or corrective morphs.

  • Rigging doesn't aline properly with blender morph
Hi, I'm new to blender and have been casually messing around with daz the last year, apologise if this is in the wrong place. I made a morph in blender from a gen8 female. Brought it back in and worked fine in rig realigning with a base gen8 female and all good. Though another gen8 female character I originally edited the form from before blender doesn't morph right using this new morph slider, when I go to realign the rigging to this particular character it turns into a mess of massive polygons. I feel I got very close, working with the standard gen8 female but a slightly edited version fails. What am I missing? Is there anyway to correct this? Thanks

  • Is it possible to convert a Genesis 8.1 figure to Genesis 8? Reallusion doesn't support G8.1

So, it's been a while since I started this thread but still, I wanted to come back and say Transfer Utility worked like a charm. It was perfect as far as I could tell and after transferring all the morphs from GF8.1 to GF8 I had no problems taking my figure into Reallusion. Thanks Gordig for suggesting that.

As you state you can get G8 into iClone, if you just want the basic shape without all the morphs, there is an easy way. Save G8.1 as a shape preset, apply that shape to G8 and then what you'd normally do to get that into iClone. That may not be enough for what you want though but I figured it was worth mentioning. :-)

If the character uses G8.1 morphs, those will not transfer with shape preset

I know, thar's why I said "the basic shape without all the morphs." Although to be fair, I think I messed up a little by reversing the character conversion, as a shape preset works well for G8 to G8.1. So likely not the best way to do things. Saving an object for a morph would be better.:smiley

The "basic shape of G8.1 without all the morphs" is the same as the "basic shape of G8 without all the morphs", the geometry and bones are the same.

  • Creating morphs with r3ds Wrap questions.

    GoblinMarketStudio said:

So I have a 3D scanner.  I have been scanning models (as in people) for a different purpose, 3D printing.

I saw the tutorial on the Daz blog and it really hit me I could make some different, realistic characters with it, so I am working on that,  I don't have textures for most of the scans though.

I am having trouble with eyes either stretching weird or just being strange looking.

My other question is how do you go about making a morph for a genesis figure that, for example, lacks eyes. or a mouth?   Can anyone point me at good tutorial?

Look up Kelvin Jin on YouTube, also known as Shinteo on DA. He has a great tutorial on doing exactly what you want and it's the one that taught me how to use Wrap3. He does make a couple of mistakes and backtracks a little, so it's worth watching it fully first, then following along. He uses G8F as in t but the same points aplly to G8M too. It also only applies to a head morph but it's easy to adpt to use a full body. Just select the rest of the body during the relevant part.

The eyes are always problematic for me. I find it's best to scale the source model to the G8 head, lining up the eyes and mouth as closely as possible, then there's l ess work to do after. There's always some postwork though.

    Hope that helps.

  • Transfer Utility > missing some bones influence [SOLVED]

Amazing. A big thanks to both of you. Solution as always, is so simple that one often see everything but it ;)

@Mada. Transfer Utility's Projection Template set to none indeed ads all of Genesis 8's bones influence. Which in terms of optimization is probably not the best option. But in terms of efficiency, it's 100%. Great :)

@Catherine3678ab. Joint Editor Tool (Alt+Shift+J) is a more pro solution. Great to know one can manually add bonesto a rigget asset. I'll definitely work on understanding that to rig custom imported objects. I'm currently working on multiple cute plushies. Marvelous Designer for the patterns, ZBrush for detailing, Bender for retopology/unwrapping/fur cards, and Substance Painter for texturing. Plushies will need some bones to pose them. Thanks for the tip, never tried rigging in blender yet.

Too bad that Diffeomorphic does not offer (yet) an option to send from Blender and its rig. It's so ! easier to do that than in DAZ.

Great :) Thanks again for the help !

  • Projection Morph Manager (Commercial)

It is those, but they all randomly populated in DS. The script allows you to arrange them via dial strength, product or list via body part, and also it restores morph linking. EG if figure has morph A which drives morph B, the standard projections have no linking. The script maintains these. Also the grey hidden text is very hard to read.

Please don't post textured, nude figures.

A morph on the figure is both saved with a non-zero default and not working correctly - I seem to recall that one of the morph covnersion tools could do this, though I thought it had been fixed in an update; had you in fact converted morphs from a different figure just before this started?

Actually, yes, I did. I used Xtransfer to attempt to convert a Genesis 3 character into a Genesis 8 character, and Daz crashed during the process.  I just went into the Daz 3D folder and found those conversion files and deleted them and -- VOILA! Everything's working now. Tested Torment 8.1 and he's good too!

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, this was bugging me all day yesterday. I'll remember about the nude images next time. Thanks again!

  • What's up with Daz Studio(4.15), I had tons of characters and Morphs and G8F loaded in 10 seconds...

There are some assets that alone bring daz studio to its knees. And they're not even warned or uncommon at all. A typical example is all the Zev0 morph packages. This is just a "design" flaw since daz studio is supposed to handle all the possible morphs for a specific figure. The only workaround is to don't use certain morph packages unless absolutely necessary for the current project.

Personally I do a separate content folder for every project, where I install only the assets required. Then to switch to another project I just switch the content folder. This makes things fast and also avoids most conflicts among different assets.

That Transfer utility requires that the models be roughly the same shape - UVs and grouping do not matter. You cannot use it to transfer rigging to a competing item for sale or sharing (e.g. use a Genesis to rig a new humanoid, unless it's solely for your own use).

Also to clearify. You can use a a modified Genesis for resell through 3rd party as long as the morphs and textures are all your own, correct?

You can sell the morph, but not the morphed figure.

When you use the transfer utility don't pick a template and it will leave the toes :) If you choose full body template it will remove the toes.

Thanks, Richard. :) I think I should be more specific. To make a 'new' character, to be sold by Daz, as a 'third party' (there are several artists who make models, as I understand it). Where do they start from?

I definitely know I'd be interested in making use of that Gorn model. Presently the only Gorn model I have is the ones from the 2013 game (Kelvin Timeline).

And as you can see by the attached image they look completely different.

Thankfully I already have Morphus for M4 and many others of Capsces morph sets, but I'd still like to get Minwee for Mavka (original figure) and Posey for Kiki. Does anyone know how to reach Capsces here on the store? I have the email address from the web site, but that seems to get no response, so it might be outdated.

  • how to use your own 3d clothing to the model with animation

Is the dress rigged, i.e. does it have bones and a weight map? If not, that's a necessary first step. You can use the transfer utility to get the initial rigging, then manually adjust the weighting as needed. How's the topology? Is it mostly quads in relatively uniform sizes? Does it have any overlapping polygons? These will determine whether or not you can add a dForce surface modifier without the dress exploding. Of course, if it's really optimized for dForce, you could potentially simulate it without rigging, but rigging is stil advisable.

Probably a Mousso character perhaps with custom brows. Which one would be a guess, but the skin definitely is, and the morph looks very familiar.

  • What's up with Daz Studio(4.15), I had tons of characters and Morphs and G8F loaded in 10 seconds...

I recently installled More characters and morphs not so many, about 3, and i hadn't used daz studio for a while and to my surprised when i tried it and tried loading G8F, after months of having used it before with loading times of about 10 seconds. NOw it just doesn't load. The progress bar gets stuck, it seems to crash and stuff.

BUt why does this happen if it was fine and loading fast with tons and tons of products before? Does Daz just slowly give up or is it the drive it is on that is dying or something? I have Daz studio and the content on a external drive. Seems to work fine . but i dont know.

I already made a copy of all the User folder along with the my daz3dlibrary to another drive in order to try to recreate a new installation of daz studio in that drive.

I don't know, but i noticed in the current drive where i have it installed, if i go to the data/daz3d/Genesis 8/Female/Morphs, and i temporarily move out all the folders ( i have like 100Plus and they weren't making the G8F load any slow before but now they are), to a temporary folder in the same drive but outside the MyDaz3Dlibrary, and i try to load the G8F base female, ,then loading her is much faster. ALthough still takes slower than when i had my 100+ morph folders before and it used to load at 10 seconds.

So now it seems for some reason Daz studio is confused or my Drive is bad or getting bad. who knows.

    anyone have any ideas?

Here are the loading bars to compare.

    A) Typically when it used to load in like 10 seconds or so, the bar would stay at the edge and then load fast

    B) Now, the bar moves along or even moves and then cycles
