Victoria 4 outfit loads like a baloon
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to apply a dress (Octavia style) to Victoria 4, but once the outfit is loaded it looks like a baloon (I mean "inflated"). Octavia style for Poser is made up of 2 parts. The skirt loads well, without problem, but the upper part loads like a balloon. Any suggestion?
Thanks.
When loading a character, add its name to G3F, G3M etcThe title says it all.
When a character is loaded that isn't called Victoria 7, Arabella 7, but just Genesis 3 Female, it would be great if the name of the character was added at the end of Genesis 3 Female.
Usually I load G3F, G2F etc and just dial in bits, but when I'm comparing it would be useful.
Arabella 7Might be my favourite, it's close between this and another; one character I don't like at all, is Victoria 7; not keen on TJ7 either, think it's the eyes there. But yeh, I'm looking forward to some new characters using her morphs; I'll likely make a few of my own too.
Sure is fun to make your own things for characters. :-)
Arabella 7Arabella looks about right to be healthy, remembering that the character looks somewhere around late teens to mid twenties - hard to be sure really. As we age, there is a tendency to put on a little weight; and with women, child birth often (but not always) can have an affect
she doesn't look much like a teen to me. I would say she looks older. :)
Agreed, but as I said, it is always hard to be sure. And we tend to think of teens as being fresh-faced individuals; sadly, there are many places in the world where folks grow up a hell of a lot quicker, and that leaves a mark.
Interesting points... However, DAZ_Steve said that Gen 6 showed the team that characters like Olympia and Lilith were widely accepted and are among the characters receiving Gen 7 versions.Updated versions of Olympia and Lilith might potentially be Bethany and Arabella, respectively. It isn't necessarily a guarantee they would be sold with exactly the same names.
If anyone is in need of some of the official figures for Genesis 3, there are already morphs (albeit, not in HD) which bring them over.
DAZ_Steve was, surprisingly enough, very clear that Bethany was NOT the next version of Olympia; that she's her own figure, and the next version of Olympia will actually be called Olympia and is in development as such. I don't think he said anything like that about Lilith, and definitely didn't say anything like that about any of the guys.
Lilith was a lot more curvy than Arabella; I don't think they would try to position her as that replacement, even though she has some of the same sort of supernatural appeal.
In any event, at the pace of at least one figure per month over (one can but guess) the next two years, we have plenty of time to get to Lilith. If named figures that keep their names follow anything like their previous release schedules (which they kind of are, in a really vague way), then we won't see Lilith herself until next summer. Michael will (one hopes) be out vaguely soon (... vaguely).
Well, I do distinctly remember him saying something about Lilith in the context of Olympia getting a Gen 7 update. He did say for a fact that the more successful characters will be seen this Generation, and Daz did rave that Lilith was a huge success.
I bet she was/is. :-) I have Lilith. And I see a bit of Lilith in Arabella, a bit of Ophelia, and a figure that would morph into a lovely Persephone.
She looks slim to me, not skinny; I think the preponderance of obese people in real life is skewing what we think of as normal. And throughout history appearances of normal has changed; Arabella looks about right to be healthy, remembering that the character looks somewhere around late teens to mid twenties - hard to be sure really. As we age, there is a tendency to put on a little weight; and with women, child birth often (but not always) can have an affect.
It was especially nice to see a character with more natural looking breasts. It saves me adjusting them.
I wasn't actually going to get the character but consider it to be possible one of the most realistic Daz have realised; if not the most realistic.
The funny thing is, some wont agree, which just shows that everything is viewed by us all slightly differently.
That's why I wondered if I was seeing what I wanted to see. :-) I've wanted someone to release a fine, tragic heroine figure for a long time. And at first glance, I didn't see Arabella's finer points. But the more I looked at her, the more intrigued I became. When I finally got her, and did a few renders, I said, "Yes, good decision."
DAZ has some talented and imaginative figure artists on board. There is always that risk I think. The face is parly attractive, but also partly qwerky... another plus imo. We do, I suspect see what we want to see, in part becuase we notice those features (in the case of a person - or character model in this case), but sometimes we can also notice what we don't like immediately, or as time goes on and what we liked begins to disappear as everything we don't like becomes more and more noticeable.
That is one of the reasons I usually wait to buy something, even if its just a few hours; kind of making sure I'm seeing what I think as opposed to what I want.
I waited almost two days for Arabella. :-) I knew I wanted her, but it was the accessories I debated over. Which bundle. As to seeing what we want to see, this morning I also saw the faces of two English ladies in Arabella, along with one Irish beauty.
I think it's her aristocratic, slightly not perfect features and the different texture maps. That's why I'm really looking forward to seeing someone push the limits with an Arabella character. Wish Surreality was still making ladies, but maybe Fred Winkler's team will go to town with her, like they did with Livia and the Vampire. Might be my favourite, it's close between this and another; one character I don't like at all, is Victoria 7; not keen on TJ7 either, think it's the eyes there. But yeh, I'm looking forward to some new characters using her morphs; I'll likely make a few of my own too.
i wanted to buy some shaderswhere is the shader preset?i bought j humanshader for iray
Is this what you bought? http://www.daz3d.com/jm-humanshader-for-iray
These are skin shader Presets for figures, they are not lights. It says on the Product Page
Works for any skin tone, and figure whether if its Victoria 4, Michael 4, Genesis, Genesis 2, or Genesis 3 they will all work fine.
NEW! Novica & Invited Guest Contributors Tips & Product Reviews Pt 6I have that boat and haven't used it yet- glad you showed it! I love rickety, used props. They add so much character!
I will be showcasing some Genesis 3 and possibly Genesis 2 characters for the weekend. Anyone feel free to show what you've done. I have FWSA Hannah, Kathy, and LY Ashlyn already in the pipeline for later today/tomorrow. Gonna go get some sleep (6am) so ttyl.
Genesis to Genesis 2 Genx ConversionTRANSFERRING A CUSTOM CHARACTER
I emphasize with your frustration. When I followed the instructions, I received exaggerated results - such as breasts being abnormally large and waists too small, and faces that were just not right. This is especially true if you use any third party morph as a basis for your character. I just couldn't get it to satisfactorily transfer everything at once. After trying several methods, I managed to find the best method for me:
First picture is Genesis, the second is Genesis 2 Male. Now, they aren't exactly identical, but close enough for me.
What I had to transfer:
Michael 5 Heroic, face: Jaime Character with additional custom face morphs, and Leon & the Night skin.
1. Find All Your Character's Settings.
Load your original character. In Shaping, find every morph and write them down with the names and values. Yes, this is tedious as heck.
2. Create a Transfer of the Third Party Feature.
- Load the Genesis base character, not Michael 5. Dial up the third party feature (Jaime's head).
- Source: Genesis. This loads all available morphs.
- Mode: Create Single Morph
- Shape: Genesis
- Target: Genesis 2 Male
- Select: Get Values from Figure in Scene
- Transfer: On for all Non-Zero Values
- Click Transfer
- Morph Properties Box:
- Name: [morph name]
- Icon: Click File and find the icon for the morph. I look this up by finding the icon of my character in Presets, or in this case, I had to find the icon for Jaime's face. [You can find its location by highlighting the icon while in Content Library and a pop up will show you the icon name and path].
- Click Accept.
3. Create a Transfer for Michael 5 Heroic.
- Load the Base Genesis figure.
- Go to shaping, Actor, and dial up the Michael 5 Heroic morph. You can choose to do the body and the face separately.
- Follow the steps above to create the transfer.
4. Loading the Morphs onto Genesis 2 Male.
This is what really tripped me up before until I found what I needed to do.
- Load Genesis 2 Base Male. DON'T load Michael 6, or Michael 5 Heroic will load on top of it, and that's why your results are warped.
- Shaping, Actor. At the top of the morph list is a box "Enter text to filter buy...". Type in "Androgynous". Dial the Androgynous morph to max. Remember that the Genesis base is androgynous, and the Michael (or Victoria) morphs make up for that. Delete the word Androgynous from the filter or you won't be able to see your other morphs.
- Shaping, Actor, Generation X, Genesis. Dial up Michael 5 Heroic, and Jaime Face to 70%. Now you have a base to work with.
- Get your handwritten list of features. Enter the morph dial values manually. Not every morph is identical between Genesis and Genesis 2 and they are located in different places. I achieved better results when I manually entered the values and could make adjustments.
- Add on your Genesis skin. G2M should take it nicely.

why wouldn't we get a Lilith 7?
My guess: we won't.
and
Why? Add up this:
- except for Victoria, we don't have G2 char's names used in G3
Teen Josie 7 would like to firmly disagree with that point, I think.
Base Female UV set on Genesis?cons: V4UV-for-G1 is not totally corrected and some makeups suffer. There is a product with a corrected UV version for G1. Yes, it is not free.
Is there a V4 Corrected to work with G2F? I converted the V4 skin Kay for use on Victoria 6, and I can see that the eye makeup isn't lining up quite right.
Newbie Shoppingit's pretty easy to look at it like this, anything ending in a 3 (V3, M3, etc.) is Generation 3
those ending in 4 (M4, S4, etc.) are generation 4
genesis is actually generation 5 (M5, V5)
genesis 2 is generation 6
genesis 3 is now generation 7
So Victoria 7 is a genesis 3 model
Michael 6 is a genesis 2 model
etc etc.
I only mention this because when I first started and was pointed to the compatability matrix, I was still a bit lost.
Arabella 7why wouldn't we get a Lilith 7?
My guess: we won't.
and
Why? Add up this:
- except for Victoria, we don't have G2 char's names used in G3
- we have 2 shapes buddles that (try to) mimic those G2 chars
- the whole new line of G3 main char follows a completely different strategy/development/look. See Bethany for exemple : no G2 equivalent, Karen no real G2 equivalent etc...
- G2 main chars where clearly "type of char/market" based. Gia: round musclar, lilith goth model, giselle fae, mei lin asian, etc... Except for Bethany, we don't have this picturized in G3
- etc...
I liked the fact that in G2 I could start to be inspired with a "type of girl". If for example, I wanted a asian beauty a bit fantasy elven, I knew where to look for to get some more inspiration and in the process the tools iI needed.
In G3, the process is completely different.
Interesting points... However, DAZ_Steve said that Gen 6 showed the team that characters like Olympia and Lilith were widely accepted and are among the characters receiving Gen 7 versions.
NEW! Novica & Invited Guest Contributors Tips & Product Reviews Pt 6FWSA Jade HD for Teen Josie 7 (Genesis 3) is wearing Flashy Hair (Genesis 3) and FWSA Indigo HD For (Victoria 7) (Genesis 3) is wearing Pixie Hair (Genesis 2 & 3 and Victoria 4) and both are wearing Vintage Bikini. Both are posed using i13Sexy Model Poses for Victoria 7. Note that I tweaked the color hue a bit and added some blue so they aren't quite as yellow as "out of the box." One thing- with the Vintage Bikini I really had to expand the straps and each breast, there was a lot of poke through. It didn't show up until I rendered it. (What a pain.)
Yes, Indigo is taller than Jade, but the pose she is in does have her on her tiptoes so that has a slight influence on the height. She is also a bit in the background. Now, to compare the expression, I did a custom one and used the same one on both women. Here's what I used, and you can compare their smiles:
Pleased 36.1 Happy 29.7 Flirting 53.8
For newbies who aren't sure how to compose an expression, it's in Parameters tab, (make sure you have the character selected in Scene) then in Actor, go down to Pose Control > Head> Expressions.

New to GenesisAll 3 versions of Genesis have their own genitalia; as far as I know, they aren't interchangeable, and they're only available in the pro bundles.
When you say "Pro Bundles" are you talking about the V5, 6 & 7 Pro Bundles? I don't see Pro Bundles for any Genesis figures.
Yes. Michael 5, Victoria 5, Freak 5, and so on are all Genesis figures; their pro bundles cime with the genital geografts. Likewise, Michael 6, Victoria 6, Gia 6, and the other Genesis 2 figures. Same for Genesis 3.
Arabella 7Arabella 7 and Victoria 7
Victoria 7 lowered to line up with the top of Arabella's head.
Thanks Mr Bowen - thats a very useful comparison. Now I'm thinking Arabella looks even worse than I previously thought! Personally, to my eyes, the difference between them is so subtle that its just not worth it at all. I imagine that if one were so inclined they could achieve something very similar to Arabella 7 using just V7 and morphs. And all it would cost them is time (assuming they have the morph packs already).

NEW! Novica & Invited Guest Contributors Tips & Product Reviews Pt 6Interesting- Capsces Digital Ink has some 65% off products, that further discount if you have one of the featured products. (I've got FWSA Hannah in the cart ($2.99 and it's a qualifying item) If you've got the Morphing Python, the Capsces Madame Mojo Monique 6 poses go down to $5.08 and I'd personally hate to try and fiddle with that snake to pose it like those poses do- well worth $5 ! And Supercomic Poses for Karen 7 goes to $4.48. There's a few others, too. Happy shopping!
Yea, it is a bit of a tedious task (not difficult, just tedious for custom poses), as I have done for an unfinished project. I don't have that particular snake, I have the SY set. I am quite curious how they differ for the bone rigging. With the SY snake (and many other critters) it is easy to select a collection of vertebra, and pose them all at once.
I have that Capces Voodoo Monique pose set, I may try posing the SY snake for that (not this instant), just to see how it looks. Whose to say, it couldn't be a Mayan or Egyptian pose set, lol.
P.S.
Don't get scared off by the screen-cap. The SY snake dose include Pose presets, so it is easy to start with a Preset, and then adjust the spots you want. Oh, and there are Pose dials as well.
