Best Female Figures?
Anyone have an opinion on their favorite female figure to work on and why? I'm currently using Genesis 3 Female, and am thinking about Victoria 4. Anyone use Genesis 2 or any others they love?? I'd love to know what people use.. I always feel like when I'm shopping for something it's not on the figure I want to use it on.. I'd like to stick with one for a while.
How to create a head only morph for G2F?Hi,
I've searched on how to do this but am having a hard time finding something that works so I'm sorry if this has already been discussed. I've been teaching myself Daz for on and off for about a year and have hit a wall with this topic.
I have created the head below only using Daz3d morph dials. I then exported the figure to .obj and used the morph loader to bring it in as a single dial morph. This affects the entire figure. Since I've used the some Full Body morphs like "Body Size" and "Heavy" to sculpt the head, the body is oviously affected too. How can I make a dail for just the head like "Victoria 6" as shown in the pic below?
Many Thanks in advance!

55% SalesI'd be curious what prices have tracked at over years. There is such a thing as inflation, and stores sometimes don't adjust at a steady pace. While looking at all the old items on all these sales, one thing I found interesting is that some of the super old models (Generation 3; not sure about older) are listed as not even coming with textures, just mapped material zones.
And V4 comes in about 167 different parts. The base has a lo-res skin, a standard skin costs extra, a "high res" skin more, and an elite skin (the level of what is standard on all models now) even more. Even today, the cost (ignoring bundles and sales) of getting her up to the level of V5-7 is way higher, and those models are far more advanced and useful in many ways.
So things have improved considerably in many areas.
I agree that products have improved considerably from the earlier days. What I find odd it that the base price of a lot of these older products almost never falls, even when equivalent, far superior products have the same base price. The standard price of a new character for Genesis 2 or 3 in this store is around 17.95, sometimes a dollar or two higher, which includes HQ skins, SSS shaders, iRay shaders etc. Yet the base price for a Victoria 3 based character is often the same, despite its 10+ year age, and far inferior contents. In most markets prices of much older tech falls as time goes by. I know occasionally older stuff (like M4/V4 stuff) gets a higer discount, but another route would be to just lower the base price as time goes buy. I guess one of the issues stopping DAZ from doing this is the hassle of communicating with the PAs of these older products, since they have the final say over the base price.
So I've actually been looking at this lately because I find it interesting (I'm weird, okay; I like looking at structures.)
TLDR Summary:
- Clothing, Hair, and Textures are still around the same prices for the first 6 generations. Gen7 tends to be slightly more expensive, but often must come with both 3DL and Iray mats now.
- V1-3 seem to be discounted now.
- V4 is crazy expensive to really get up and running unless you get her in a bundle on sale. She's also still super popular because Poser and many users like her, and she has a billion characters and outfits.
- V1-4 often come in Poser format and are organised by picking a folder via roulette while being chased by a tiger on acid.
- V567 are each around similar prices and very easy to start up, all of them working with their respective Genesis models which are free, as well as any other character of that generation model.
- V5/Genesis is now kinda pointless unless you want gender swapping or built in kids (which don't seem to get made anymore) but can often be found for cheaper (hint: buy Carrera8.5Pro if you need V5/M5 pro bundles)
- V6/Genesis 2 is still close in cost to Genesis 3. G2F has way more characters and items right now, obviously. New items are rarer, but often come Iray ready. (I think V6 is kinda unattractive.)
- All V7/Genesis 3 items come Iray ready which may contribute to the price raise if they also have 3DL. (I think V7 is the best Daz character yet and the only one with a HD pack I really like.)
- It seems like it'd make sense to implement a system where each generation gets an additional PC+ discount percentage when the new generation (or 2) arrives. Here's a comparison of some items across the generations:
Victoria 1: $9.93 (no textures: can't find her skin on sale either.)
Victoria 2: vault
Victoria 3: $9.95 (no textures: nogen/std/hires textures $9.93 each. Morphs $9.95 each for head and body.)
Victoria 4: $29.95 (sample1024 skin) (std[2048] skin: $19.95) (hires(4000) skin: $29.95) (elite(4096) $29.95 each or bundle $99.95) (morphs++ $29.95.)
Victoria 5: $39.95 (4096 skin) (morphs: $19.95 each for head and body.)
Victoria 6: $44.95 (4096 skin) (morphs: $19.95 each for head and body.)
Victoria 7: $44.95 (4096 skin) (morphs: $19.95 each for head and body.)Randomly chosen / Average prices:
V1 Character: $19.95
V1 Hair or Clothing: $19.95 ($45 max)
V1 Texture Clothing etc: $9.95V3 Character: $17.95
V3 Hair or Clothing: generally between $10-20
V3 Texture Clothing etc: $9.95V4 Character: $17.95
V4 Hair or Clothing: $18-25 (usually the higher end it seems)
V4 Texture Clothing etc: $9.95V5 Character: $17-19.95
V5 Hair or Clothing: $17-19.95
V5 Texture Clothing etc: $9.95V6 Character: $17.95
V6 Hair or Clothing: $17.95
V6 Texture Clothing etc: $9.95V7 Character: $17.95
V7 Hair or Clothing: $21.95
V7 Texture Clothing etc: $12.95Obviously prices go up and down between these values, and these are base amounts not taking bundles or sales into account. Generally you won't buy these parts separately.

can you attach hands to clothing to make them move with it?Easier with Dynamic clothes, but then u need the clothers specifically for it; you might also find you need the paid-for version not the free version. It doesn't work with any clothes; please Daz add dynamics properly.
There are some freebie clothes to practice with at optitex; they also sell a few, and there are some available here, for older models, but work with any model. The one exception I have found is http://www.daz3d.com/dynamic-lingerie-collection-for-victoria-6-and-victoria-5-supermodel which I have found slips through G3F.
I can't find the free link, but they also sell a few items: https://my.digitalgoodsstore.com/optitex
Maybe someone else will post the freebie link.
Transferring Morphs from Genesis to G2M/G2F and from G2M/G2F to Genesis (Now with Clones!)Make your own simple V4 clone for G2M
I suspect we all miss the golden opportunity to put G2M into some fancy Victoria 4 clothes ^_^
So here is a small tutorial about how to make V4 clone for G2M.
Again, I'm pretty sure there is some faster way but I tend to do things with export and import when possible. The method in this tutorial is very very similar to method for G2M clone for Genesis and other older tutorials in this thread, with some additional steps.
You will need Genesis and G2M Essentials (free with DS 4 Pro), DS 4 Pro (I use 4.6.1.33) and maybe a good plain text editor (standard Notepad is not recommended, I use text editor called Bred3 although there are many others).
If you want to make simple Generation 3 clones for G2M in the same way, you will need their Iconic Shapes.
1. Open DAZ Studio, start a new clean scene. Make sure that Show Hidden Properties is checked in Parameter tab options.
Load G2M, make sure it is zeroed, and set Resolution level to Base and Subdivision level to zero.
Go to Hidden/Clones and dial Genesis clone to 100%. G2M should now look like Genesis.
Export G2M obj via File -> Export (Wavefront Obj). I called mine G2M Genesis LR.obj and had everything in export option unchecked except Ignore Invisible nodes.
The scale is up to you but it should be consistent in all export and import steps. I use Hexagon (1 unit = 1 cm) 100% scale.2. Clean the scene and load Genesis figure. Again, set Resolution level to Base and Subdivision level to zero.
Go to Hidden/Clones, find Victoria 4 clone and dial it to 100%. If it doesn't dial, use the gear icon on the end of the slider and uncheck "Use Limits" in morph/clone parameters.
Export this file as obj via File -> Export (Wavefront Obj). I called mine Genesis V4 Clone LR.obj and had everything in export option unchecked except Ignore Invisible nodes. Again, the scale is up to you but it should be consistent in all export and import steps.3. Zero Genesis and use Morph Loader Pro to load Genesis V4 Clone LR.obj that we just back into Genesis created as Victoria 4 morph. It doesn't matter how it is called or where it is put as long as you know where it is and how it is called, because this morph won't be saved into final Genesis or G2M, it is just temporary morph.
Reverse deformation should be unchecked. Path and category isn't important, I just left everything as it was by default. Lets say I named that morph V4 Temp Clone and put it into Actor/Morphs.We do this step because otherwise transfer utility in step 5 won't see the actual Victoria 4 clone. And we need Victoria 4 (not morph, but clone) because the original Victoria 4 legs are positioned differently from Genesis or G2M legs and this positioning is very important to clone.
Make sure that this new morph is working. Dialed shape of this V4 Temp Clone morph should show Victoria 4 shape with feet like original Victoria 4 (Gen 4 figure) had in zero pose, with toes down.
Zero Genesis.
4. Load your G2M Genesis LR.obj from step 1 into scene. If everything done correctly two shapes should now overlap.
5. Open Transfer Utility.
As Source select Genesis, Item Shape - Default. As Target select G2M Genesis LR.obj, Shape Default.I unchecked all options in Transfer Utility except Weight Maps to speed up the process. You might want to use Near method if you think it gives better results.
Projection Template is None.
Fit to Source Figure should be checked, Add Smoothing Modifier should be unchecked. As a result of the transfer you should have G2M mesh fitted to original Genesis figure as a very, very tight bodysuit.
6. Find your V4 Temp Clone morph and dial it to 100%. G2M mesh, still fitted to Genesis, should follow her shape quite precisely.
Turn Genesis entirely invisible.
Your G2M should be at Base Resolution, zero Subdivision by default but check it just in case.Export G2M morphed as V4 as obj. I called it G2M V4 Clone LR.obj
Clean the scene entirely.
7. Load G2M figure again. Open Morph Loader Pro and load G2M V4 Clone LR.obj we just created.
In options of Morph Loader Pro name it CloneVictoria4, Property Group should be Hidden/Clones (you select it with right-click).
Make sure that Reverse Deformation is unchecked.
Press 'Accept'8. In G2M go to Hidden/Clones, find CloneVictoria4 and dial it to make sure it works.
Zero G2M.Click small gear at the end of the slider for CloneVictoria4, - it should open morph properties.
Name should be CloneVictoria4
Label should be G2M Clone or whatever name is comfortable for you to use.
Path should be Hidden/Clones
If you can change the Type to Modifier/Clone, do it now and skip step 10. I don't have CMS and this line for me is grayed out.
Set the clone to Hidden, Locked, Use Limits.9. With G2M selected and zeroed Go to File -> Save As -> Support Assets -> Morph Asset(s).
Find your new clone in Genesis 2 Male/Hidden/Clones.
Set Vendor name and Product name whatever you want. Leave Compress Files unchecked and save.10. (take is step only if you weren’t able to change Modifier/Shape to Modifier/Clone in step 8).
Go to data/DAZ3D/Genesis 2/Male/Morphs in your content library.
Your new CloneVictoria4 will most probably be in a folder named as Vendor Name/Product Name from step 9.Find this file and open this file in your plain text editor.
Change Line 20 from
“type” : “Modifier/Shape”,
to
“type” : “Modifier/Clone”,
(mind commas!)
Make sure that line a bit below, number about 38 or 40 (depending from how you set clone Hidden/Locked/Use Limits) parameters reads as
“group” : “/Hidden/Clones”,Save the file under the same name.
11. Now you should be able to fit Victoria 4 clothes to G2M with autofit. As usual with autofit, the results may vary and custom bones such as skirt bones, as well as long sleeves, long skirts, high collars, etc, might not autofit well; some minor pockthrough also possible.
Pictured: G2M wearing V4 Archer top, Anjiru bottoms, and Classic Fantasy jewelled shins.
I'm attempting to use this procedure to create a Hiro 3 clone for Genesis 2 Male, but at step 7, Morph Loader Pro gives me this error message "Warning: Geometry did not match, failed to create morph."

Title: Negotiating From a Position of Strength (or, Christmas in the Wastelands)
Stephanie and Victoria knew that there would be a price to pay even to approach the treasure the griffin was guarding. There always is.Griffin: "How's about a little kiss, Red? That is, if you want the treasure...?"
Stephanie: "That's not mistletoe, you moron, it's holly. It doesn't count."
Griffin: "Hey, am I a botanist? Do I look like Euell Freakin' Gibbons to you!? Let's just take the intent for the deed, and get down to a little seasonal osculation, shall we?"
Stephanie: "Well..., okay. But no tongue!" (To Victoria): "If he tries to slip me any tongue, you kill him, understand?"
Victoria: "I'm on it!"

My pull:

4435 - The Legendary Griffin (!??)
4577 - Tenacity (??)
5113 - Rogue Red for Stephanie 3 PetiteWell, it just wouldn't be an RRRR without at least one Christmas-themed render, now would it!?
Another render in Poser 11 Pro. And so far, I'm not all that impressed with it. (Try, 'not at all'; this thing seriously sucks!) The Superfly renderer puts a 'background' in the rendered image, and nothing I've tried to do has been able to get rid of it. As a result, the "background" in the environment fails to render at all -- no mountains, no skydome, no nothing! Just a pure white background; not even an alpha channel!
My next entry will be done entirely in DAZ Studio. This is nonsense!
Also used:
Lisa for V3 (another ShareCG freebie from LA3D)
V3 Tunic Pack (for the Tenacity textures)

Overpriced AnatomySo I've had my eye on the Anatomy 4 Pro Bundle for awhile now, but I just noticed something. The Anatomy Pro Bundle contains exactly the contents of the Male Anatomy Bundle + the Female Anatomy Bundle with the addition of the DAZ Brain. However when you combine all of those, the Anatomy 4 Pro Bundle is $7.10 MORE expensive than buying the parts separately. I thought bundles are meant to offer savings?
I haven't put in a ticket in case I've missed something, so if I have, please point it out.

Flash Sale alerts...so anyone have the Wear Them All fit clones for G3F? Does it also handle dresses very well? Seems the description mostly seems to refer to tight fitting clothing like slacks/shorts.
Yes, it works well with dresses. Here is a test render with Eva 7 in a long Genesis dress and Teen Josie 7 in a Victoria 4 dress. Notice that I still see the normal autofit texture stretching in the V4 skirt. I think that is a projection template problem, isn't it? I think the Wear Them All clones are working well.
Genesis 2 clothing to Victoria 4I've just started using Daz 3d and have found most of the clothing I like is Genesis 2 but I am using Victoria 4, I was wondering does anyone know how I can make Genesis 2 clothing fit onto Victoria 4?
Any help would be appreciated.
One can wish, right - old outfits reloaded for new charactersHello!
One can wish right! But there are some old goodies for M4 & V4 which I'd love to se reloaded for new generations.
Like the M4 outfits Arcane Brotherhood http://www.daz3d.com/shades-of-atlantis-arcane-brotherhood , Annunaki http://www.daz3d.com/shades-of-atlantis-anunnaki
And for V4 Novariens Holly http://www.daz3d.com/novariens-holy-for-v4 and Apteromata, which doesn't even seem to be in the store anymore. (see below)
And finally this oldie, which I keep converting with more or less luck to new characters http://www.daz3d.com/olympian-conforming-clothing-for-victoria-and-michael
Odd question about Hot Summer Nights for G3FSorry, I foolishly expected the name to bear some resemblance to the product's name in the runtime; I really should know better by now.

http://www.daz3d.com/dynamic-lingerie-collection-for-victoria-6-and-victoria-5-supermodel
There are different items, so don't let the promo picture put you off... Not much cloth in that. :)
Yeh I find dynamics give better looks, usually; some items that look to have been sprayed on, can look good in some circumstances though.
Skin Tone - How to Lighten Victoria 7's Tanned SkinTottallou, This works well to lighten the skin color. But when I add Genitalia to a character that has associated Mats, like Victoria 7, the Gens don't match the rest of the skin, even though I set the translucency the same in both the body skin and the Gen skin. Any suggestions?
What hair is this?55% SalesI was hoping for Michael 7 to be on the 55% off sale, or at least the Victoria 7 figure. :(
M7 is still new, so it is unlikely he will be on sale over 30% until mid January of next year. Having said that, some items, particularly Daz Originals, do go on sale before the full 60 days of their "New" period is over, so it is always possible.
55% SalesI was hoping for Michael 7 to be on the 55% off sale, or at least the Victoria 7 figure. :(
What Character Was Used for these Promos?Maybe this texture with a different face morph? Can't seem to find a match amongst Sabby's products. I should just PM the SWAM who made the hair and ask.
