  • Sculpting Your Own Character?

    Kainjy said:

If you make a morph you must only adjust the "rigging" (only if changing a body part lenght: even an arm). This is done by the commands "ADJUST RIGGING TO SHAPE" and "ERC FREEZE"
With morphs JCM and weightmap are the self.. so you already have them active with your G8 and you don't need to fix them.

With transfer utility you can copy rigs, weightmaps and even morphs between 2 figures: so you have JCM even in a new figure.

I don't understand what you want do: a morph or a new figue ? If a morph you need only morph loader pro, a new figure even using Transfer Utility you could need manual adjustment.

Thanks - you have answered some questions there already.

I haven't tried anything yet so I'm just trying to find out what is possible. I would like to send a G8 figure to Blender and make my own shape. That might be a small or larger character so the rigging might need adjusting. I don't know whether it is better to send an OBJ or FBX or whatever.

  • How do I make Bugga Boo's eyelashes work? {SOLVED} Toon eyes found, too.

Yes. Load the 2 little morphs I just released; and dial in the Head morph to 200%. Eye poses work pretty good and the lashes too :-)

Yes - it would need variations to change shape, but on a single base morph instead of zillions of character morphs

This was done in Poser years ago along with a butt crack filler(I think it was a morph for conforming stuff). why has it taken this long to do it in daz studio?

Didnt someone come out with a butt de-cracker for the G figures some time back?

That isn't really accurate. For Poser figures the morph prohjection would work, and that was also used in older Genesis products doing the same job. More recently it tends to be done with a projection morph, which is a special version of the morph used for projection but not showing in the mesh. Indeed, I don't think Poser supports, at least until recently, the trick used in the past - of having a morph designed to go into the clothes and a second morph that undid its effects on the figure but didn't project into the clothing.

How do I make Bugga Boo's eyelashes work? They sorta disappear once I dial G8F into the Bugga Boo morph. So I tried scaling them up equally, but that looked odd. Now the client wants an exaggerated head up to 300%, which did scale up, but the lashes are a lost cause. Tips?

  • Sculpting Your Own Character?

I have done quite a few morphs in Blender (2.79), using just the basic tools (Translate, Rotate, Scale, Shrink/Fatten, Push/Pull), with the X Mirror and Topology Mirror checked (in options), you only need to morph one side of the mesh and the other side will follow automatically. The proportional editing mode (donut icon) extends the affected area beyond the vertices you have selected and in 2.79 and older, you can use the scroll wheel to change the size of the area while performing the action.
The tool I use the most is Shrink/Fatten.

They changed the interface in later versions, and I still haven't found the same functionality in them, like adjusting the affected area with the scroll wheel while performing the action, so I still use 2.79

From my experience, it is not a good idea to change the height of the figure in Blender

Absolutely interested! So how'd you make Boo a boy?

As far as poses go, I'm just using G8F poses and tweaking them to suit Boo's body style.

The author sent feedback. He loves it but would like the head bigger, so I've made it 300% larger. I'll send renders of that, too, if it helps. Do you plan to make a shawl and veil for her and the drape for him, too, for a set, as I suggested? You are definitely good enough that people will buy it if you make it. Turn your hobby into a side income.

Okay then, I'll package up this particular morph for everybody that wants it.
I will caution that it is meant for use with Bugga Boo ... without Bugga Boo dialed in, it looks pretty silly.

    How did I make Boo a boy. It's a bit of a story ;-)

I have a list of things I'm working on, so I may make more for her but can't promise at the moment. When I'm making the gown over to fit him a little better, I expect I could add in the drape for him as well.

So far people buying my work have been rather non-existent. It would be nice for sure. I certainly have no intention of releasing this gown for free -- it's been too much work putting all these pJCMs into. I think you'll like them though because they should also help with the draping in certain poses. Obviously there are always some poses that long skirts just are not going to look great with.

Her head 300% bigger, hmm ... I can dial that and see what happens, not sure by itself that's such a great idea.

No I haven't saved the morph as I didn't think that would change anything. Not sure it's the hair cap either as the vellus hair is doing it.

@Chumly: A novel idea of "bridging prop" to prevent cloth vacuum forming to the breasts. This, too, is a peeve of mine.

Thank you to Matt Castle for providing some of an explantion, but I can"t help but think that the moon was reached in a decade, but we can't solve this....

@ Kyoto Kid, yeah! Bring back that V3 Spandex morph!

  • Sculpting Your Own Character?

I keep telling myself that it time to move beyond just sliding morph parameters to make my own characters and perhaps send a G8 to Blender or some other sculpting application - I don't have ZBrush but have Blender and there's also Meshmolder which is either free of low cost for the "Pro" version. I just don't know what's involved though. For example, can I export a G8 and retain all the JCMs and rigging and, if so, what are the limitations (what if I want to make a much taller or shorter character, for example. Or what If I want to add detail where the base G8 has such a low poly count - Geometry grafts or normal maps perhaps?).

So assuming I can't do those things, what do I lose if I just export an OBJ file and then use the transfer utility (or whatever the process might be) to restore the rigging, etc? Is it possible to restore the JCMs, FBMs and such like? Is there a tutorial (and I don't have $100 to spend on one so free would be ideal)?

I am itching to sculpt but how difficult are the technicalities beyond just making a new shape? I tried to dial-in a baby character recently for a family scene and it just turned out awful. I could buy the DAZ babies but they already look so ugly to start with (I think the creator must have used a Shar Pei puppy as a reference).

  • Fit Control Add-On (Commercial)
Hi. There isn't an easy way to fix this. However, we are busy finalizing new product called projection morph manager that will solve this exact issue. It gives you full control over all the figure morphs projected onto clothing which you can dial in and out on the clothing for that perfect fit.

  • Auto Muscle Enhancer HD [Commercial]

These results look terrific. Lately, though, I've been slogging around trying to find at least a partial solution to creating a convincing split bicep on a G8F base. Still no luck. It's frustrating because, just today, yet another altogether insufficient and unrealistic full body muscle morph hit the DAZ marketplace. I can't understand why only one PA (I'm ever grateful to him) has had any inclination to respond to a clear market call for an anatomically correct human upper arm. But there's no shortage of toonish drivel because, I suppose, it's easier to produce that.

I would pay a fair price for a quality, authentic offering. I have done so (for G8M). I long to begin using my G8F characters in near-photoreal artwork again without having to deal with all the secondary/collateral issues (mainly clothing fitment/misbehavior) that occurs with G8M ported characters. Still, I applaud your efforts and successes with the G8M platform.

  • Need Help Finding Character Skin

Looks a lot like the FWSA in terms of the morph style (even though they don't recognize it) , especially the FWSA Genesis 3 characters.

    For instance :
    https://www.daz3d.com/fwsa-nancy-hd-for-genesis-3-female
    or https://www.daz3d.com/fwsa-keira-hd-for-victoria-7

You could probably come close with that and a face morph pack. The skin is a bit different though, but looks a lot like the type on G3s. Would look into that generation further for the skin.

Have you actually saved the motph?

On the hair cap, given there is such, there should be a hidden morph, corresponding to the morph you have added. For the hair cap, enable show hidden, and in parameters show currently used.

Frequently people forget to remove eyelashes.

But it is unclear to me, do you get the morph correctly into Daz, i.e. without errors when processed in Morph Loader Pro?

yeah loads back in perfectly. And like I said I removed every from the figure and exported as base. When I add the morph it all works as it should but when I dial the morph in the hair and vellus hair both move position slightly. Weird right? I actually tried a second time and the hair didn't move but the vellus still did. Again, this is with all addons removed from the figure before export.

There was a thread recently that got closed (due to drift) concerning the fate of Rarestone's products. Whilst I don't have a definitive answer on all of them there has been an update in DIM today for Hann Mei. The reason for the update is 'Buyout from Daz'.
