The right way to export Victoria 4 into, and out of Daz?
WendyLuvsCatz said:
well unlike Genesis+ you don't have to export all of the mesh, just the head
(with eyelashes etc, whole head)
as all body parts are separate meshes by bone name
you then reimport that mesh using morphloader specifying its the head (or whatever other part under attenuate I think (read or watch a tutorial been a while and I used Poser or Carrara personally)
eyes and mouth you can move the bones manually to fit (again separate meshes)
creating ExP injection files is another load of fun (I have done it but following DAZ documentation tutorials)
It took me a while to figure out how to move the eyes and mouth in Daz. It's just a shame that it isn't possible with the eyelashes. Because then everything thing could be corrected in Daz Studio.
Alas, no.

1. Even with Genesis figures, you don't have to hide or delete anything, just use Filter Objects option when exporting OBJ ( DS version 4.12+, IIRC...). The same settings apply for V4 when exporting to OBJ, there's nothing special.
2. V4 has no multi-resolutions by default. Leave it alone if you did not convert it to SubD beforehand.
3. If you use FaceForm Wrap, as the floating geometry, V4's vertex positions must have change after wrapping. Then when importing OBJ with MLP, you'll get the delta with no problem, just by using Reverse Deformations + Deltas Only.
4. As per my exp., with wrapping V4/G2, in FaceForm Wrap, 1) hide eyelashes, inner mouth, gum, eyes related surfaces, etc. on the floating and fixed geometry with the nodes of Selection Polygons and Subset; 2) Add a Brush Node after Wrapping node to smooth / tweak any distortion / displacement.
5. After importing OBJ into DS, if there's any rigging issue on eyeballs / mouth cavity, etc., re-rig them as needed.
Attached is my attempt. I managed to reposition the eyes. But the Lacrimal, lashes, and eye sockets have "dropped". I've tried to fix everything in Blender, but when I try to import it through MLP into Daz, I get the "missing deltas" message.
As a quick test. I even created a morph for V4.2 in Blender. When I tried to load the morph through MLP, "No deltas".
No matter what I do, everything just comes up as having no deltas. Right now, I feel like smashing my face into a blender - turned up to full.

Thank you for the replies.
Carraracafe down? *ONLINE NOW*I have a feeling they just don't care.

I will admit to using DAZ studio a lot lately simply because it's just easier for content from DAZ.
Carrara still remains my go to for creating my own content but can see the lack of profit in that for DAZ3D which I believe is largely the reasoning as they have no way of correlating purchases from their shop with people who use Carrara, if they did they would realise a lot of Carrara users are good customers too.
Carraracafe down? *ONLINE NOW*hello,
My apologies for being late on the matter. Was traveling and not online much.
I will try contacting DAZ3D officials to see what happened, I hope they didn;t cancel Carrara Cafe, I can't even log in to hosting to see what went wrong and attempt to load back up.Update: I fear original Carrara staff might be no more, all contacts I knew returns e-mail does not exist error. I submitted a support ticket via Daz3D website.
If anyone know someone from Daz3D, DM me. My connections I've had are lost.Filament work done with DAZ beta builds (hopefully path forward to opacity fixes)this
I have Carrara, iClone, Unreal, Twinmotion after all if I wanted to render elsewhere
but for quick loads, add aniblocks and render Filament fits the bill but the mapped opacity and lighting issues are frustrating
avoiding the maps certainly works but then you need lots of geometry to draw on with the geometry editor to assign to a new surface to add a transparent shader without cutout opacity (I do this sometimes, on props or use fibermesh hair on heads)
I looked in Shadermixer and found the new Filament bricks but have absolutely no idea how to use them

Fantastic!
Thank you, in hurry forgot to add Carrara's Shadow Catcher SHADER. Also some other mistakes but Carrara can really help create great stuff like Hollywood quality CGI. And it is easy, fast and affordable.

try the latest beta as the FBX import has been improved
otherwise Carrara imports FBX and so does Poser 11+
.dae there is possibly more chance of getting it in rigged correctly but varies a lot
Thank you for helping! I can't seem to get either .fbx or .dae to work, at least any rigged .dae models. Is the Beta fairly stable? I've never had the Beta (I actually don't even know where it is), so this is probably a stupid question, but if I loaded something in Beta and saved it as a scene subset, would I then be able to load it into my regular Daz Studio? Or do you think it would still crash?
Picking brains about a pose convertoryou can use both
I do
Genesis 1 does have M4 and V4 UV options included in the base starter essentials but you would still need to buy morph packages, grab some freebies or sculpt it yourself in another application.
Clothing can be autofitted
I find V4 and M4 a lot less resource heavy but obviously dated
read some tutorials watch some videos and try stuff, Google yourtopic:site.daz3.com for specifics as the documentation explains stuff much better thsn I can
those bat files only needed to be manually run for Poser (and Carrara BTW) Powerloader runs them, you just use that to load your figures and it puts up the dialogues for everything
just make sure no duplicate cr2 files for V4 or M4 (A4, H4, G4 etc) hidden in your runtimes there can only be one for each figure

Me, too, unless Windows ... OK, even then I'll keep a machine running whatever is needed. I actually did that for Adobe Pagemaker for a long time, then discovered Xara Page & Layout Designer from Magix which is better anyway.

thanks all for the comments

well , thanx _ But Not meaning Your image is a photo

A little shout out for Carrara in a Daz Studio promoI'm also going to demonstrate how cool it can be for making our own VFX.
Furthermore, if we use the same elements and cameras in Carrara as any other software render, we can take advantage of Carrara's many multi-pass render facilities to assist us in post!
It is my hope that, the more Daz 3d sees the importance of Carrara, perhaps they can turn their heads toward developing it again - into the future and beyond!

A little shout out for Carrara in a Daz Studio promoI know it's not much, but it does say a lot.
As this whole "Creative Cart" journey continues, there will be a lot more.
Carrara is an important tool in this industry and it also just happens to be one of my favorite tools Ever!
So at around 2:55 in this video, I tell everyone that I'll never - Never Ever!!! - stop using Carrara!
