Is Victoria a blond?
Panties and ThighsI have fit control for G2F but I get a bit fed up with buying the same utilities over and over every time a new Victoria is released.
Likewise, I bought the Wear-it-All and other conversion utilities precisely so that I could use the content I've spent so much on. So it is disappointing to see these problems. However, this particular issue is not strictly limited to conversions because some shorts designed for G3F do the same thing.
As for Optitex - I despise it. I usually end up with a heap on the ground. The new Dynamic Cloth product being discussed in this sub-forum (and in the Carrara forum) looks promising but I would have to wait for a Mac version which could be a long wait.
But thanks for your suggestions and I'll try your not autofitting tip (I sometimes do that with hair).
Question about David 3 for Genesisor a David 7 for the matter. However if they continue to release G3F amd G3M in pairs like they seemed to be doing at the moment, then David 7 could arrive with Stephanie 7 (assuming she arrives of course).
Well, let's put it this way, of course characters Stephanie and Aiko will show-up as they do every Generation. Victoria, Michael, Stephanie, and Aiko have been a persistent quartette since Generation 2 and nothing has ever stop any of them yet from meeting this pattern, not even risky sales.
So, as suggested by Leana, if DAZ is so bold as to give us The Guy in this 7th cycle, it might very well spark a faint glimmer of hope for David and Hiro WHEN Stephanie and Aiko make their appearances. How compatible are A4 and V4 poses? You may have to do minor tweaks like moving a hand slightly etc....but overall, like Chohole said, the A4 figure is based off the Victoria 4 mesh and rigging, so they work well overall.
DAZ Connect news - Encrypted files will be unlocked after 12 monthsI am not worried about the one year ... because I am not only using older stuff (much older than one year) - I am buying it too ... so Daz and the PAs will get money from me.
On January 24, 2016 I bought http://www.daz3d.com/degas-ballerina-for-victoria-4 Release Date: 2007-07-17 ...
My Renders, Now I can go to beddid this quick, just to show off Galene Hair
with a $10 coupon for using DAZ-Connect, I couldn't pass that up, I still had some store credit
So just used Summer for Victoria 7, and the Vigilante Outfit
and the pose came from i13 Sexy Model Poses for Victoria 7 . adjusment to neck and head
and yup it's Iray added camera so I can have that focus just on Summer
New way of doing the Genisys modelsi get what you all saying and having everything be dials so you have a vast number of thing is not good but having it that you still get the sculpted look but have the face/body broken up so you have morphs for viki's eye, mout, nose, cheacks, ect, ect. it means you can still get the sculpted look but also if people do not like a feature of a model they do not need to have it. lets say you like the eyes, mouth, and cheeks of aiko 6 but like everything else of viki 6 how would you do that? the answer you can't atm but what i am suggesting allows for that to happen also it allows for a ton of diffrent nationalitys to be represented as generic morphs for all the stuff i have siad in this post. so you could have say 5 diffrent african morphs for each section and then make a character thats diffrent then the basic affrican morphs and have a skin to go with that thus giving a sculpth with texture but also haveing the fredom to pick and coose what thy like of the models. yes there will be a dial that adds all the stuff of a character. that just makes sense.
I think I get what you're asking for, and your best option is the Body and Face morph packs for whichever base figure you're using. Those give you things like eye shapes and such. While the thought of having characters that have broken down morphs so you can dial in the eye shape without the rest of the sculpt sounds handy, I can guess it'd be quite difficult to make.
But if I don't like Victoria 6's features for example, the head morphs for Genesis 2 female allow me to reshape them. One thing that might be missed is that you can often dial to a negative to 'undo' features that seem to be part of a character. It may not be as effective as it would be if there were a specific 'Aiko's Eye Shape' for example, but it can be useful for customizing a character to your purpose.
good points but as for it being hard to make a character like that i think it would be easy. how else would you have the morph's pack. seeing as i am not character sculpter i would not know.
How long until Victoria 8?On topic - I'm hoping that Genesis 4, when it comes, is better at handling backward compatablility than Genesis 3. While I get that DAZ (and the PA's) make money by making us buy everything over again... quite often that's not actually what happens. Well, it is, but only with a handful of styles of things (mostly certain types of characters, swimwear, sleepwear). Most everything else doesn't get revisited either because it didn't sell well enough the first time, or the original artist doesn't want to revisit that particular thing, and other artists are concerned (rightly or wrongly) about being accused of plagerisim if they do something similar. All of which are perfectly valid reasons to move on to something else. However, that leaves certain characters "stuck" on older figures, clothing can only handle so many iterations of autofit (depending on the outfit, sometimes not even 1) before it breaks, and parenting hair doesn't always work for certain morphs. (and LAMH needs to be redesigned for the new figure anyway)
I haven't moved to Genesis 3 because at the moment, investing further in Genesis 2 has greater value to me than investing in the same basic Genesis 3 stuff all over again. When Genesis 4/Victoria 8 arrives, how much I invest in it will greatly depend on how much of what I have that probably *won't* be re-made for Genesis 4 I can use with it.
How long until Victoria 8?Of course when Victoria 12 with 'AI based intelligent morphing and posing' declares herself our new virtual overlord and replaces humanity with 3d printed clones of herself, we'll all feel pretty silly.
But we'll all be young and pretty!

Seeking help shopping for pieces to a V4 Superhero CostumeHey, all: Back in 1982, I created a superhero named Ultra. The sketch of her below is by an artist named Steve Addlesee, who did it based on my designs. We actually did publish some fanzines with her in it, but those had very low press runs in the early 1980s, so I'd be stunned if anyone here had ever seen her before. At any rate, I would now like to recreate her using V4 in Poser (why not Genesis & Daz Studio? Simple: I want to use the Comic Book Preview mode in Poser 11; I want to work with the Geometric Edge tool on my next project to see what I think of it). So, I'm shopping here and there to find the bits and pieces of her costume that I need. I'm aware that I will have to do some customization, but I'd rather find things that are as close to perfect matches as possible.
I have: Mask and bracelets (but would look at others, if suggested).
I need:
- Shirt: Puffy sleeves, open neck, x cord at neck (I know I'll probably have to add the x myself) Vest: Short, with a few movement controls would be nice
- Vest: Short, simple and straight (no dip in the front). Having a few open/close, front/back controls would be nice.
- Belt: She's shown here with a chain belt, but I'd actually prefer the gold metal disk belt that the Black Widow wore in 1970s Marvel comics
- Trunks: I have one set, but am looking for others
- Boots: I really want them to have the heel and points at the top -- I don't want to mess with morphs (especially since morphs tend to be kinda soft and round, and I want hard, sharp points). I am aware that I will need to retexture the boots, and I'm okay with that.
I'm looking for free and commercial products. I've done some shopping, but there's just so much here that I'm overwhelmed, which is why I thought I'd ask for input.
Finally, if anyone would like to discuss doing a character design for me, customizing products I buy, I'd be willing to talk about it. But I doubt I could afford it. Still, it doesn't hurt to talk.
Thanks to anyone who responds. There's just so much stuff here and out there that, to be honest, hunting for ONLY thigh boots that fit Victoria 4 is a long, tedious process. My searches keep bringing up each and every outfit that has boots, including some that aren't evn for V4.
THANKS AGAIN!
Mike

PS: The artwork includes two possible color treatments for the costume. You see, when I designed this, color printing was outrageous, so I never even thought about doing her outfit in color! My, how the times have changed.
GENESIS 3Hello everyone,
I'm a long time Poser user, currently using PPro2014, and decided since it looks like many of the online stores are developing content for G3/V7/M7, that I'd go ahead and buy them. Unfortunately, I didn't read this until I was trying to figure out why V7/M7 don't load into Poser via the DSON Importer for Poser.

So, as part of my troubleshooting I used Install Manager to upgrade to the latest D/S (4.9) and DSON. It looks like this was also the wrong thing to do, since it's the encrypted files from this new content protection scheme Daz is using that doesn't allow the figures to export.
I think I may have wasted a fair amount of money buying figures I thought would be Poser compatible. I'm not even sure why there's a Victoria 7 if it's exactly the same as the Genesis 3 Female with a couple of extra morph dials.
Since I'm not all that comfortable with using D/S, and most of my runtime content is in my Poser files, I guess I'll have to keep watching the forums and waiting patiently to see if there's any progress, but I have to say I'm really disappointed in Daz, a company I've been a loyal customer of for almost a decade, for no longer supporting Poser users like us.

Migrating from DIM to ConnectI have a bunch of stuff that I've migrated to DAZ Connect but also a number of products that are not yet available in DAZ Connect (e.g, ExP-based stuff for VIctoria 4 and her friends and some other products). I'd like to clean out the Install Manager installed versions of the products migrated to DAZ Connect. Any easy way to get a list of the products I need to leave alone in install manager? I've got a list of nearly 2000 products that I would need to go through to manually work this out otherwise. Probably doable, but very tedious. Any suggestions to make this easier?
New way of doing the Genisys modelsNot actually, you might not make you exactly, but there are enough morphs out there that will probably bring you pretty close. And yes, sculpting would be more accurate, but again, that would be about the skill of the sculptor. If you look around the galleries, however, you will see people who have been able to use morphs and/or sculpt to make figures that bear good resemblance to actors and recognizable people. That only takes you halfway, though. The other half is textures. If I have a model that looks exactly like a particular actor, but put textures on that model that have no resemblance to how the actor looks in terms of coloring, brows, skin details; it won't exactly look like the actor anymore.
As far why have characters...if that is what you are saying...rather than dials, is because some people want that. They like the face and body sculpted by the artist. A good percentage of people never change the base figure or Victoria 7 or Michael 7 or any character they purchase. Not because they can't, but because they like the figure as is. There are others that want to add some uniqueness, they start with the base and spin dials or add more to a character as said before. Then there is that percentage that wants something so specific they sculpt it.
I'm trying to understand what exactly you're after that you don't think you can do now. Maybe if you give a specific example?
DSON importer and poser 11By and large, I've been able to get the DSON Importer to work in Poser 11 (Pro), but I had to upgrade it. The version referenced in the forum threads was 1.1.0.41, if memory serves, and it's now up to 1.2.0.12.
You also have to let it know where to install, too. Just point it to the install location of your Poser 11 executable, and tell it where your DSON-compatible content is located, and it should work.
One thing I have noticed, however, is that the auto-fit functionality that I've become so accustomed to in DAZ, is not implemented in the DSON Importer; so if you've morphed your character in any way, and to any degree, you're going to have poke-through issues. In my own case, they were serious enough to get me to stop using Poser with any DAZ figures beyond Generation 4. (Michael 4 and Victoria 4 still have plenty of shelf-life to them, so that really hasn't been that much of an issue for me.)
If you're going to do any kind of animation, though, I really wouldn't recommend Poser with Genesis 2 figures. Stick with DAZ Studio, or go with iClone.
On the DSON menu use "Transfer Active Morphs".

How long until Victoria 8?Yeah, mimic wrinkle maps are lacking. All of our characters have botox faces : )
Skin Stretch: Simulating Dynamic Skin Microgeometry
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXXdypEuR_M
This would more be a studio function actually, you'd need studio to be able to calculate mesh tension (how much the mesh has stretched or squished from its initial point), But if Victoria 8 did come with a rollout of studio that calculated mesh tension I'd be okay with that.
With that said the next Genesis will come out when: they actually run out of new characters to produce, or (more likely) they introduce some new features that make it possible to create a better looking figure.
Personally I think the production cycle for Gen 3 could be longer than G1 or 2s. My argument is that I always saw G2 as more G1.5. There wasn't much of a change in technology. Both G1 and G3 featured a lot of new technology elements, both featured new weight mapping methods, G1 introduced automatic autofollow for morphs, and G3 a rigged face for improved expressions. On the other hand, G2 was more created because they realized G1 was a pain to create gendered clothes and morphs for. So I could see G3's lifespan being closer to the time between G1 and G3. (actually I'm guessing 3 years total from launch so, 2 more years total)
How long until Victoria 8?What I'd like to see more than Victoria 8 would be some sort of add-on to the current generation.
Like, Genesis 3.5 and all the current models would be updated with some new tech, lets say, dynamic textures for example : )
