Worked for me, with only my two Madness items and the two expression packs I didn't have.  Scored for $1.40 each. 

 

I fully appreciate that everyone has different reason for sticking with Genesis 2, but Genesis 3, in my opinion, does not have that big an entrance price in order to make it a useful addition to your character pool. In my mind, the only must haves, are the Head and Body morphs, and the expression pack. These are 20$ each, and there is no bundle, so with G3M and G3F together that adds up to a hefty $120. However if you are in the PC club, and buy during a 60% off sale they are much cheaper. Using PC coupons I think I picked up all 6 for around $20 dollars in total, so that it a very reasonable entry price.

To use Genesis 3 to represent younger characters you will need Zev0s Growing Up stuff, and for the older generation, the aging morphs (although these are not available yet). Other than that, spending $10-15 over at Rendo to get the G2F UV set for G3F, and you should be able to create a diverse range of Genesis 3 characters all wearing G2F/G2M (or older generations) clothing and hair.

Well, to tell the truth: some of the folds the smoother smoothes are realistic (like the fold under the ribs wenn bending the upper body forward) - can I get a smoother for real life? LOL

Edited to add: I don't think the app is useless - some of those are really better smoothed! - I just think there may be some overdoing in wanting female bodies to be smoooooooooth. (And yes, I AM thin in real life - genetically so)

Hello Kerya!  I definitely agree, too much smoothing is unrealstic.  The hope for Zone Smoother isn't really to oversmooth the figure, but to smooth out spots where morphs and poses don't apply well.  For example, have you ever had Victoria 7 turn her neck to look over her shoulder and noticed an unrealstric crease appear?  Zone Smoother is meant to help out in a situation like that 

Chubby characters need a smoothing on some poses especially the hip/thigh area and the backside of the knees and the armpit area

Not sure if this has been asked, but will the content migrate over with the same product names?   So will I be able to search for an item  in the store from my wish list from there, for example

SciWizard dynamic cloak for Victoria 4

Let's say the item is clothing for Victoria 4.  Load Victoria 4 in the viewport and make sure she's selected.

Open the "Content Library" pane on one side, open to the folder containing the clothing.  Open the "Smart Content" pane on the other side with the category you want to put the clothing in (you can use the Default > Wardrobe category, or you can create your own category).

Drag the clothing from the Content Library to the Smart Content pane.  It will now be Smart content that is compatible with V4.

Is it also possible to export the so created Smart Content data, for the case that the content database would have to be purged and all re-imported? Would things make much easier, with all the chaos in 3rd party content.

wolf359: Like you, I'm a dial-spinner.  I buy characters for their skin and create my own morphs.  I love that flexibility.  With G2's asymmetrical morphs, I can make them more realistic.  Genesis still looks pretty good and many of my characters are Genesis.  I found that starting from M5/V5 made some very nice characters after all.  I'm this way with technology: I don't scream in ecstasy and stand in line for 2 days every time a new iPhone comes out, so why should I trash my perfectly usable Genesis characters?  Besides, I waited a year before starting to purchase G2 - because it took that long for the PA's to create all the utilities I wanted.  If I want a contortionist, I'll use G2, or maybe the G3 starter essentials characters with something I pick up cheap or free (like Linsey).

tl155180: Dial-spinning is how I create my own faerie characters.  They don't look like human actors with ear prosthetics - their face shape is different and their eyes are large and slanted.  I have something in mind and I create it myself. 

Havos: I, too, was pretty disappointed to find that there are no bundle morphs for G3.  I was ready to buy that only, because honestly, I don't use Michael or Victoria skins - I always change them out.  However, to my dismay, I found that G3 had only one third the body morphs available to G2.  That's a deal-killer for me.  I would have to wait for a third party to create the body morphs and frankly, I don't want to spend the money. 

timmins.william:  Yep, I'll wait for Genesis 4 - provided their is a significant improvement over Genesis 2. 

Interesting, I confess I had not spotted the difference in the number of morphs in the base packs comparing Genesis 2 and 3. For body morphs they are near identical, but for head morphs, it is as you say, a lot more for Genesis 2. Also odd that there are no asymmetric morphs in the Genesis 3 set, nor are there any in the add on resource kits supplied by Thorne. More reason to want Generation X for genesis 3, I think.

I think all Genesis 3 characters (except for the teens and unrealisc ones like The Girl and Guy,) look like they are in their late 20s/early 30s to me.

If I had to assign ages it would probably go like this:

Bethany - 28

Eva - 27

Victoria - 26

Arabella - 152 (She's a vampire!)

Leo - 29

Gia - 31

Gianni - 29

Michael - 28

How old do you think Victoria 7 is? I suspect she's actually a lot older than some folks think, to be honest.

You just apply the model's regular materials to the genitals. For example...

1. Load Victoria 6 from Smart Content/Figures (or from Daz Studio Formats/My Daz3d Library/People/Genesis2 Female/Characters in the Content Library)
2. Select her, and click on the Female Genitals in Smart Content/Anatomy (or Daz Studio Formats/My Daz3d Library/People/Genesis2 Female/Anatomy)
3. The gens appear, but all grey.
4. Select them, and go to Materials in smart content or Daz Studio Formats/My Daz3d Library/People/Genesis2 Female/Materials/Victoria 6
5. Click on V6 Belle all, the gens will then have the proper texture

In previous generations I have managed to get around this problem, but I am stumped with V7.

I'm almost there, just not quite. Vicky was exported via FBX to Unity. I saw there were some changes to the eyes and old tricks do not work.

I just about got the eyes right, but there is something going on with something as you can see.

Seems the eye moisture layer is a problem - can I remove it from Daz or in Unity ?

I more or less stopped at G2F and G2M, which are pretty much what I use all the time in DS. I have a handful of G3F content, but didn't like G3M at at all. What's most likely to persuade me to hit the 'buy' button now are new tools and scripts, shaders or environments and props, or sales on clothes and hair for older figures. New stuff for Bryce is always a draw too, but a new and updated version of Bryce would be even better :)

Exactly this.  And I am still a new user only about 5 1/2 months into Daz.  I have purchase a tone of stuff for Victoria 4, Michael 4 Gen1 and Gen 2.  Almost nothing for Gen 3 because I am very happy with what I currently have.  I will probably add bits and pieces for Gen3 if there is a really good deal but honestly, so far. I like the older versions better.

I see... I always had the impression that it is more important for DAZ to create new content than to using it...

How do you do high quality renders then? With Victoria 4 and Smith Micro's Poser i was able to use the Morph Tool to change the mesh according to the pose (for example to simulate preassure of the skin from cloth) but because of V4's low resolution it was hard to get it right. Now with Genesis 3 the resolution is even lower which makes it simply impossible to do that. Does that mean we simply cannot create high quality renders with Genesis 3? Is not even Hexagon able to do that? It would be such a shame if all that money would be wasted on Genesis 3 stuff...
