So, now they are on the road and Victoria is napping because she did spent a lot of time catching up (the downside of travelling all over the world…)

I'm glad I wasn't the only one then :) I undertstand your pain with the lighting tho it's much harder to (re)light a complicated indoor scene than I thought. I originally planned to custom-build the entire environment for my image (since most of it is not seen) but couldn't get the light right at all so ended up using a purchased nighclub asset just for the lighting rig. I haven't really worked much with ghost lights so also wouldn't really know how to replace them.

Nice image tho - hopefully Lacey caught up with her sleep before getting behind the wheel!

I picked up the bundle mostly for the clothes (was looking for a Hijab outfit just the other day, now I have 3) and hairs. Maryam out of the box is definitely not my style, but the face I think will add nicely to mixes.  Default skin is very plain - attached a couple of quick renders of her alternate shapes, and here's one of her default shape with Victoria's skin, and a 60% Maryam/Mira mix with Mira's skin.

Santa Comes to Visit Burtonville

This is Poser 4 Man. He has been transformed with a character freebie from Arduino. The little girl is pre-teen Victoria DAZ 3D, and the other two characters are by Traveler for RNDA's Cranksville Christmas. The room and furnishings are by Avros and were given as Christmas gifts at Dreamslayers many years ago, 2012 to be exact. The contest was what would Tim Burton do for a Christmas movie. Rendered in 3Delight. Little Vickie in wearing freebies.

Summary. 

I use the native Toon filter in Carrara's scene tab.  The scene retains the ability to render colors but I replace many object's shaders with black and white gradients, usually driven by the texture map. These are my Toon Filter settings.  I usually reduce the size of the edges, for example.

For example, I tend to use G2M and G2F generation.  So I have saved a global shader for Michael 6 and for Victoria 6 that makes the skin shaders B/W gradients with the texture map in the gradient blender channel. 

Occasionally, one of the people figures will have some color information, but to keep the monotone I simple replace the B/W gradient with a reddish or blueish gradient, still driven by the texture map.  I attach an example with a red theme. 

In the above example of the art show slap, the figures remain B/W.  It is the artwork that gets a splash of color for interest.  I used simple primitive planes.  I set the shader for the plane a reddish gradient, and used a classic artwork to drive the gradient.

I would like to see Face Transfer 2 used using skin shader/texture material sets for preexisting Genesis 9 products, example, Genesis 9 Essentials, Victoria 9, or Michael 9.

That's right ~ So pls send a support ticket if you want. And at the same time, you may simply fix them by yourself:  Resave the Wearable Presets to replace "DSS Outfit Male" , "DSS Outfit Female" and "DSS Outfit Victoria 9", as per the attached screenshots.

I had an encrypted password file accident a while back.  My DAZ password wouldn't work.  The team here was very helpful and had to transfer all my purchases to a new account.  That one could have gotten lost?  I don't know.  I think to update metadata I'd have to sign into my account in DAZ Studio and accept a user agreement.  I didn't go to Haaaaaaaaavaaaaaaard Law School so I just don't do that.  When you say Haaaavaaaard you have to stick your pinky out.      V4.2 Base is not to be found in my DIM.  I don't know if you can still download the zip files from here.  I'll look into that.  Thanks for the info.

I think it may be worth asking if people who use this tutorial to breathe life back into a Generation 3 character could show their sucesses (or otherwise) in the 'Older Generation V2/3  and M2/3 and their children' thread.

Mostly - there are a few exceptions, the old Anne Marie Goddard Digitial Clone for Victoria 3, products from Flipped Normals, and products with an Editorial License for example.

I purchased this: https://www.daz3d.com/flexi-girls-poses because as I've said before; Not being a contortionist is a life regret.  Not dating a contortionist is a life mistake.

After a couple years I thought I'd see if I could use the poses on a figure in DAZ Studio as a reference for creating G8-9 poses, what with them being mesh based not carbon based bipedal mammals and all.  I'm terrible at posing & this would be a challenging practice.  I purchased these: https://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-for-genesis-2-female  |  https://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-2-base however I could not find them in my content directory after a DIM install.  I checked under the Poser section too.  I'll try looking again tonight but if anyone has any V4 tips I'd owe you one.

If you let a 3rd party handle the merch it is easy extra money for almost no effort. But it isn't even about that, IMO. People wearing your logo are walking billboards, which can be worth way more than whatever the profits on the merch are. That kind of advertising can be priceless. Considering the types of customers seen here, a simple tshirt could lead to a conversation with a friend, or a curious passerby decides to search what Daz3D is.

Not that I would wear one, that's not my thing. But I do believe lack of merch is a major missed opportunity. Just get a 3rd party with experience and let them handle it instead of using your own resources. You don't even need a warehouse these days, they can produce small batches quickly on demand.

I'm pretty sure that Millennium Dragon 1 and 2 have the same rigging

The Generation 3 & 4 characters are parametric rigged. With Genesis the rigging changed to TriAx, and things like autofit clones and morph autofollow became possible. I stumbled on a way to convert the parametric figures so they could have such things, and documented it in a freebie tutorial here: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/655676/tutorial-making-triax-figures-from-old-parametric-characters/p1 . The net result is my GV3 can wear V3, V4, M3, M4, A3, GND2, G3F, G3M, G8F and G8M clothing when previously was limited to only that designed for GV3. The process doesn't improve the rigging of V3, which has to be said is poor by current standards, but the biggest advantage of autofit clones is possible, and that makes up for a lot.

I'll take a look at the ani-blocks. Thanks. Not sure if I will be able to use them. Finding time for still images is hard enough, but animations.. Phwee. Not often.
