In old legends and myths, dragons could be anything. Two legged no wings, four legged wings, no legs wings, four legs no wings, whatever.

It wasn't until around the 19th century that the different body styles began to be categorized, and those categories became more and more explicit with the rise of modern fantasy.

Effectively:

Drake: Usually small, big cat sized or smaller, they are similar to one or more of the larger types. Examples: The Hunting Drake, AD&D Pseudodragons

Wyvern:  Forelimbs are wings, rear limbs are legs. The tail may or may not have a poisoned stinger, spike launcher, or other tail weapon. Usually smaller than dragons but larger than drakes. Examples: The Wyvern 2.0, most "dragons" in recent movies, the Felldrake ridden by the Ringwraiths.

Dragon: Quadroped plus wings - effectively hexapodal. The classic dragon, examples too numerous to mention.

Wyrm: Forelimbs are present, rear limbs are not. Often has extremely ornate head horns and scales, and were the source of the idea of Western dragons as sapient, cunning, and with a hypnotic gaze. Examples would include the Norse Lindwyrms.

Asiatic: Quadropedal with a serpentine body and no wings, and usually multiple types of head adornment such as antlers, whiskers, and catfish tendrils. Tend to be more purely supernatural than other types.

Near-dragon types:

Tarrasque: Yes, this predates AD&D. It was a hexapodal creature -called- a dragon, but did not resemble what we consider a dragon. It had six bear-like legs, a lion like head, the shell of a tortoise, and a long reptillian tail that ended in a scorpion stinger. It threatened the French region of Provence, until it was tamed by Saint Martha. She brought it back to town, and the villagers panicked and killed it - and it should be noted it did not fight back.

Lambton Wyrm: A long, serpentine beast that may or may not have had limbs (depending on the story) and had a salamander-like head. It was capable of extremely rapid regeneration and the only way it was killed was wearing armor festooned with blades, and when it acted like a constrictor and tried to crush its slayer, it took enough damage to override its ability to heal - though its death throes slew its slayer.

Definitely just a happy dream . The cameraman was actually a hamburger (you know how dreams are), and all the brains were made of strawberry flavoured jelly. And you really should have seen the zombie bunny and scorpion doll getting down to the Time Warp Twist (I think the two mummies are still twisting...)

*Yes, I know they have nothing to do with zombies, but there's also a bit of word association and freeform subconcious stuff going on...

i am torn. On one hand I REALLY want some detailed military clothing/gear addons for DS and want to support vendors for doing military addons, on the other hand, I am picky about detail and factuality to a degree and the Army outfits are basic representations of the actual ACUs (or MCCUU for Marines).

The male version should work fine for non combat scenes (hope it takes seamless textures well since I have merchant resources for the current ACUPAT camo and the upcoming Scorpion W2 digicam patterns), but that pack will not work, LOL. Don't get me started on the female version with the style and the high boots, LOL.

The tactical pants and gear look great and I love the detail, so these will be useful indeed.

I'll have to pass on the vehicle and heli as I have every type of military ride I would need thanks to the games I play

i was really hoping for some authentic combat gear or Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment like this  I guess Yura's Soldier 2.0 is the closest i am going to get to combat gear for now.

Oops! I got called away to kill a scorpion in the shower and didn't finish my comment. So to continue... I totally agree that when I look at a product I consider whether there is enough information on how to use it before I buy. My hope is that someone will reveal that there is some mysterious place where the documentation is stored that I just don't know about.

You meant the new Captain America trailer, not Captain Marvel.  They haven't even offiically cast the "Marvel" Captain Marvel yet... though the rumor mill is currently running strong for Yvonne Stahovski or Katie Sackhoff, with a fan-made poster featuring the former on IMDB... and, AFAIK, the only person who's been cast in the entire DC Captain Marvel film "Shazam" so far is Duane Johnson as Black Adam. 

Which ruins it for me.

How am I supposed to take seriously the feature film of my childhood hero when they cast that buffon in a lead role?

 

would think they'd cast someone younger in the role.  

Black Adam's a few thousand years old and the casting choice is obviously riffing on Johnson's similar role in the Mummy and Scorpion King.  And casting an A-lister like the Rock as the villain makes it more likely that they'll go with a lesser known actor for Cap himself and Billy rather than stunt casting.  My main concern is that the classic Black Adam storyline also incorporates Captain Marvel Jr., Mary Marvel and Uncle Marvel, which is way too many main new characters to try and shoehorn into a single film, and that means that the story's probably going to altered even worse than it was in the old 70s TV series.  I would personally have preferred Dr. Sivana or Mr. Mind as the main baddie.

I feel like that last spider thinks they are an ant.

Actually that last one is a wind spider or camel spider as they are more recently known... They are not actually spiders, but somewhere between a spider and scorpion... They are really weird looking and have very ancient vibe... Or alien vibe... Depends on how you look at it. I saw one years ago in person... It was very full and juicy looking and didn't want to be bothered... I complied.. The jaws are the freakiest part... The body is like a giant wood louse with a termite predator alien face. Not something you'd want as a pet or to find living in your boot.

I don't know why I said ant - I think I was thinking of those antbear eaty things that live in pits. But yeah, it looks like it's pretending to be a wood louse to attract things, only sort of remade as a horror alien from space o.o

This summer I found a bunch of ant lions living in my yard... They are really freaky cool looking... I always thought they lived in dessert regions, but apparently they live here on Long Island too.

They're the Harry Potter spiders :o 

Also actually harmless and they have ultra long front legs but they don't walk on them - they use them to feel about for things to chomp with their jaws. They aren't actually poisonous though and I think there's a scorpion that looks almost the same but this one isn't a scorpion and it doesn't have the tail (I spotted that!) I don't know how excited I am about this... Because this show will be the flagship program for a new style of pay network, I'm afraid the creators will play it very, very safe and go with a concept that's very formulaic and designed to appeal to the teenaged boys that they think are their core audience -- a bland, look-at-our-shiney-CGI, run and jump on Planet X sort of show with a busty female alien who takes lots of on-screen baths.

I think in this case, in my opinion Alex Kurtzman is a good bet. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0476064/#producer ; (From Herules and Xena to Transformers, Limitless and Spiderman) he and his producing partners have a track record of outstanding shows, and given the current two shows I watch right now, Scorpion and Limitless, the characters interaction and dynamic has the potential for being outstanding.

For when and concept of the show. I believe the show would be best served if a continuation of TOS where the current three (Yes three, the third is in production) movies have taken the reimagining.

Too many people will scream 'THAT'S NOT CANNON' as it is already if any other era were to be used.With all the TV shows and movies made maybe a starting fresh is best. Keep in mind, even if they started with a new ship in the TOS era, people will scream 'THAT'S NOT CANNON' if there is an accidental crossover, so again, continue with the reimagining, many won't like it, but, it's here to stay. 

In this day and age, with the internet, remember feedback can make the show to what we want with nudges and suggestions. Outright screaming it sucks,it will fail, we hate it...will be ignored.

I was a fan of herswhen she was on Canadaian Idol!  It's my contention that if she was in the US, she'd be a major singing star now... (or starring in </scorpion>, as she was the same time that Katherine McPhee was on American Idol, and Melissa's Somewhere Over The Rainbow was much better than Kat's...whose was phenomenal...)
