(DAZ forum not just Carrara)
now I get cookie popups accepting will not make go away
I actually don't mind ads on other sites I use, they are not intrusive like here
so blocking them was unneeded if DAZ3D had only played nice
but since they won't, I will just go away
I get the Cookie popups the first time I open DAZ website each session then again when I log in, click on the preferences and decline. It's a pain but it looks like the price of doing business with DAZ.
Don't go away, we value you !!!
Are you running ad blockers? Is your browser set to delete cookies (if you have to log in every tiem that sounds possible)?
Adblockers and Browser is set to delete Cookies on exit.
If you delete site cookies it will clear many settings, including I would think the cookie options. Cookies are not inherently malign.
more....Wacky Modelling ~ In Carrara ~To include some animation examples with the upcoming Starry Sky Iray, I built a little star ship quickly using primitives and shaders (DS).

After watching it back, I'm thinking... Oh no. The last thing I want is to have an Editorial License slapped on it just for a simple demo!
So on Wednesday, I slapped a Saturday Sphere into Carrara's vertex room and made me a nice little ship, I think! LOL

Has anyone tried Carrara on Linux with Wine?
I have and it worked - I think. I couldn't figure out what to do because the fonts were all wrong so everything was blank.
I wonder if we look at the default font in Carrara Preferences on Windows, then installed the correct font on Linux if it would solve that. I'm fairly certain it should.
I don't know for sure because I am not used to Linux at all, so I have no idea how things should be.
I think it should be Helvetica or Helvetica New, but also Georgia should work but a bit unreadable

Off Topic Thread #2I can still use Firefox on iPad unhindered but honestly sick of playing browser Jenga just to use this forum
so taking a break, I am conceding defeat. as DAZ doesn't care about Carrara users in particular anyway
I do and will still use it while I can but also use a diverse number of other softwares
I will still check in on iPad until that too gets compromised by Ads

a great idea to explore in Carrara
I already can think of some DAZ sets or of course model our own
Yes, very cool, some great animations.

I feel you. Sorry to see you go, but I will wait out my Support ticket first, then decide. It's either DASZ will answer with the SDK download or I leave.
You know … My PM will be still read. I still have to get the Carrara SDK. But as nobody is willing to share, I have to hang out with mny Support Ticket that has almost past its best before date … just saying
take care
maybe see you on artstation? ArtStation - O-8-15

When I tried opening the SubDragon LE in Carrara it came up with an error message.
So I opened that plugin that they give away for free, DAZ Studio, and saved the SubDragon LE as a scene Subset.
This opened in Carrara. While as Dart pointed out it does have a problem with a few items, I was able to use a couple of add-ons on it no problems.

Strange. I can open the Subdragon LE directly in Carrara from the DS4 content directory. Could it be as I chose a custom folder for DS4 content instead of the default "My Library"? This seems unlikely, but you never know...
Dunno whats happening, but it refused to open on my computer. If it's working for you then all's good !

nicely dressed lady using Carrara on a hotted up computer in the kitchen

LOL! She shouldn't have fallen asleep while they were remodeling the kitchen.
These all look really nice.So for whom is this tool for?Was initially sitting on the fence with some major reservations about AI, decided to have a look to see what the fuss was all about.
I installed Krita AI on my graphics computer which has a 1060 6GB card which is the recommended minimum.
From trialing prompts it was apparent that some prompts got a lousy response from the AI.
Tried the DAZ AI and was getting good results. Purchased the Pro version which gave me the option of generating up to 8 images in less than a minute, Krita AI was taking about 3 minutes per image.
Plan for using the AI images -
First of all is to generate a number of iterations on subjects that interest me, then I will use those images as a guide for setting up a scene in Carrara with my content library.
Second is to use Diomede's method of exporting a scene from Carrara into the AI to generate an image of it.
Thirdly is to use the AI image as a background for posed DAZ/Poser/Carrara models.
Fourthly is to use an Image to Image process to tart up my renders.
Will continue to do renders in Carrara, and use the AI as another plugin for the work process.
Also I am keen to get back into 3D modeling, will use the AI images as inspiration for the models. Have been doing a series of start/stops with the modeling largely as I have too much fun rendering.
Let's appreciate/discuss today's new releases - ongoing threadit could have been better than Poser and Carrara dynamic hair we have had for 13 years or more
but DAZ could not let the Plebs use the technology
because nobody buys premade assets,
looks at my extensive dforce cloth hair collection in my library and scratches head
I recently bought a new Dforce strandbased hair with the Omni shader and all and it is very nice
but
it would be nicer if one could actually style it differently in the editor
hell I bought every Carrara hair in the store even though I can and do grow my own,
Surely DAZ marketting must realise fast food and premade meals sell even though we all have kitchen knives and chopping boards

I did not try as I am reorganizing my runtimes, but I believe that the textures Dart is talking about also work with the LE version of the subdragon. And this LE version should be included in Daz Studio 4, so nearly all of us can use them, even though we do not have the complete version of the subdragon (like me, yet).

True. The actual Millennium SubDragon really rocks, but I'm sure the LE version does to - especially in Carrara where we can shape it around ourselves if we want. But to be clear, important parts of the MysticShard/SimonWM aniBlock collection do not work on LE because it's rigged differently.
But if you really want aniBlocks, you could always break out Millennium Dragon 1 or 2 and just use my free ones. Millennium Dragons 1 and 2 are freaking Awesome Dragons!!!
I also found that the DR Dragons (the ones that make up the full Dragon Clutch) are pretty easy to animate too.
Andf then there's Predatron... oh my! Oh crap... Dart... you're rambling... stop it!~!!
The "Animators Assemble!" thread for Daz animation WIPs, clips, and tipsThings have changed since I first started claiming that I Love to aniMate in DAZ Studio.
At first I was overjoyed that I had a working solution to the animation troubles we feel in DAZ Studio's timeline.
Since then, I've learned and demonstrated a bunch of the extra benefits of aniMate 2, which made the experience even better.
After working with the very same advice I taught in Dynamic Character Animation more and more, everything about animation in DAZ Studio just kept getting better - feeling more solid and easier to control than any other method I've tried in prior years (3ds Max - but I was really green then, Poser - but I was really green then, and Carrara, which I still Love!) simply because of how easy it has become!
Since I made Dynamic Character Animation I've suffered a total, massive data wipe. I lost Everything including everything I've made and recorded to make that course.
Instead of being bummed, I took on the opportunity to start completely fresh - unburdened with trying to figure out which animations I should create, because I need Everything!
Rosie 7 was an experiment created while I was still learning my way around DAZ Studio. Using GenX2, she had bits of V4's entire family line, a bunch of Geneis 1 and 2. She was cool, and I loved working with her - but trying to reconstruct her, while possible, would be a long journey all over again - which would be fine if that's what I needed to do.
Nah, I wanted to try the new Genesis 9! I got the start of a character made but as I'm developing a new Rosie character, I like to render some animations to see how she's looking on screen after rendering. Trying to do that proved that Genesis 9 does not like my computer, and Genesis 8.1 was killing me in the same way. I can use 8.1 for some things, but a Rosie version just kills my whole computer, or at least DAZ Studio.
Stepping down a generation to Genesis 8 Female worked - and worked Very Well!!!
Rebuilding all of my Custom Dynamic Character dials for was a real blast - and it still is as I push the envelop further and further - finding new ways that this method of working not only simplifies the entire animation workflow, but it's helping me to make better, more solid animations and special new ways to treat performance capture data - creating and utilizing these dials to take a performance either from Anilip 2, Mimic Pro, PoseRecorder, along with my other method, and edit the overall facial musculature structure so that the performance not only 'works', but it looks like Rosie (the character) is performing it - rather than just being applied to her.
My earlier (and some recent) 2024 YouTube videos show some of the captures. Not talking but idle facial animations. I used Genesis 3 & 8 Face Controls to correct it somewhat, but it still doesn't quite look right. I'm glad I make these animations - as unrefined as they are - because it gives me the chance to dislike aspects of them and push ever forward.
The still images a few posts up show how she's supposed to look - and that look is in special thanks to some really wonderful new dials!
Tweaking facial musculature across an entire animation can be a real bummer sometimes - but we do it anyway if we care enough to do so.
These new dials make it so much different! One or two dials can make the entire animation work with a single set of adjustments at the very beginning. A nice, overall 'blanket' change that just fixes the performance to Rosie's proper musculature.
So adding more dials to add special Rosie Characteristics makes it a dream to add extra nuances that truly give away that - Okay, this is Rosie talking!
I'm still in the thick of that process... but the tests so far are fantastic to my eyes at this stage in the game!
So Happy!!!
