  • After a Rebuild, Filament is Broken

This is a scene with a blue sphere (duf file attached). See if you can view it in Filament draw style.

    It should look like this:

Well, at least we made some progress on one of your problems.
I'll see if I can think of anything else that might cause that Filament problem. Maybe Richard will pop in with an idea. Are there any error messages or warnings in your log file related to Filament (In Daz Studio, Help>Troubleshooting>View Log File... )

I've looked in the log a lot. The results have been inconsistent and inconclusive. There was even ONCE in my series of uninstall/reinstall/reboots where Filament actually worked correctly. I thought, oh good, it's fixed. Then it disappeared.

Are you running the same version of Daz Studio that you ran Filament in successfully before? What version is that?

Not likely. I don't know what I was running before, but it wasn't this version. I do know that my W10 install now is far beyond (or behind?) what I was running before.

There's something flakey about this install. For example, at the moment, Keymate won't show up on the list of Panes, even though DIM says it's there. It has come and gone a few times. All the other programs have settled down. Not this one though.

Daz forum uploads have been broken for weeks. You can post the image to an external location and link the image here, if you want to. Sometimes uploads work late at night. Sometimes they don't.

Forum notifications don't happen any more either. You will need to watch you threads manually to see if anyone responded. Lots of information gets missed because of the missing notifications. People think nobody has responded. sad It's hard to help people that way.

I knew I was missing notifications, but I didn't know why.

    I do hope v5.0 becomes a reality.

Here's a WP Guru video to help you with Filament Options settings. It is a good Filament overview, too.

He doesn't go near the extreme all-white that I have. The forum wasn't accepting any uploads today, otherwise I would have posted a screen shot. I did add a Filament Draw Options button, all the values were nominal, nothing set to exteme. FWIW, Filament worked fine for me until two weeks ago, when my HD croaked. This all white behavior only began after the rebuild. Multiple uninstall/reinstall did not fix it. I would have purged the registry too, except that Daz is behind every blade of grass. Purging the registry of Blue Iris, by comparison, was a picnic.

I can work around it, but I hate to lose it for no good reason.

Here's a description of the NVIDIA green tint problem. There are also several discussions of this issue in this forum. You say blue, and this says green, but maybe your perception of "blue" is "green" to some other people.

The driver version I settled on is the very version named in the NVIDIA post (I can't imagine how you found that post). And to think all I really had to do was disable one setting. I may reinstall the latest version and just turn that switch off.

Color is an interesting thing. When I see red, and you see red, do we each see the same thing? Aqua or Turquoise might have been a more accurate term.

Have you added a Filament Draw Options node to your scene and adjusted the lighting level there. Perhaps it is just completely blown out.

I've never added a Filament Draw Options node. I do suspect the Draw Settings though.

Where do you see the translucent blue? In the viewport (if so, what draw mode)? or in a render (Iray or 3Delight)? There is currently an NVIDIA driver issue causing green coloring in Iray renders with the alpha denoiser turned on. If that is your issue, try turning that off in render settings.

Yes, I just updated my Nvidia Studio Driver. The blue tint fills the Viewport when viewing in IRAY mode, it is not present in Texture Shaded mode. I suspected it might be this driver. It seems unstable, some of my old files now look OK again for no obvious reason. I'll focus on this. Maybe I'll switch from the Studio driver to the Game driver and see what happens.

    Thanks.

  • After a Rebuild, Filament is Broken

After a catastrophic HD failure, I had to rebuild my DAZ install. Looks like most things are OK now, all but a few details...

    1. Filament presents a white screen with white objects. It is unusable.

    2. A few of my older files now are behind a translucent blue filter. I can't get rid of it.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled, but these things do not change. I can't find any switches that control these things.

Any wild guess would be appreciated.

That's a thought! Once the render pass I'm doing now in "texture shaded" is finished, I'll try one in Filament and compare.

  • When will the Filament Render be available for Mac users?

    Rod Wise Driggo said:

Any news on that. Just noticed that fillament is mentioned during loading of DAZ studio on Mac. Is this finally integrated of is this just a message during start which does not lead to anything still?

As Leana pointed out, Filament won't be available on the Mac until DAZ Studio 5. It's possible when it's mentioned during loading that some of the code elements are being put into place to prepare D|S for D|S 5, possibly a sign that the release could be any day week month time now.

  • Remixing your art with AI

    juvesatriani,

Thanks for sharing that video! My first impressoins?

There are a number of software to master whose output cascades into one another. For someone new to generative AI art, there's a good amount of technical learning involved here. There's also  a lot of room to make mistakes, but just the same there's room to develop one's own style and adapt the process to achieve one's unique goals.

Also, even with generative AI's assistance, the techniques here still require effort and judgement on the part of the user. This isn't just with the manual steps of cleaning the intermediate images, or organizing them into sheets; more importantly; it takes a trained eye to separate the good from the bad images the AI outputs. Clearly it takes a fair amount of patience to put together a good training set. As with anything to do with software, garbage in equals garbage out. The better the garbage man -- in this case, the better the artistic vision and the higher the artistic standards -- the better the overall output will be, so to speak.

Again, thanks for sharing the video.

3Diva, the video is worth looking into.

    Cheers!

here cool video which talking about generating same  character in SD  with help of controlnet  and some manual fix.

The video itself actually about preparing character sheet or data set for LORA training  but I think we can use several  trick from that video to generate same character with bunch of poses .( ehich we can reuse or copy pastee into another scenes)

You can start with DAZ preview or Filament render as controlnet sources or IMG2IMG guide

Thank you for the suggestion! The video is really cool. I don't think my PC can handle model training though. I'm sure soon though, they'll probably make model training a lot more user friendly for lower end computers. :) At least I hope so!

Here are a before and after image I sent through Stable Diffusion. I think it turned out kinda cool, but replicating the results has proved ellusive.

  • "V3D HDR Master Bundle" (Commercial)

I am using DazStudio 4.21 Pro on Windows 11, but it is irrelevant now.
Because, what do you know! It worked!
Well, I guess what i missed in documentation was that the Render Settings have to be set to NVIDIA modus. This was not the case first.
Now it successfully rendered the exr, which was successfully converted to hdr (for Filament viewport), which then could be successfully loaded in a new Environment.
Further it is the question of finding the right resolution and maybe other settings, but it works perfectly.
So thanks a lot for your help! And this case is closed now.

    Hi there!
I am trying to create a hdr file using V3D EXR Creator 1.1, but constantly get a error message.
I follow the documentation, nothing special to mention about the settings. When in the second pane I click on "RENDER HDR NOW WITH CURRENT OPTION" the script tries to locate the images first, but eventually ends up with the following message:
"The exr file was not found in the destination folder with the expected name. You can find more information in the log file..." etc.
It does create one png file in destination folder, but no exr. Tried it with NVIDIA and Filament modus - the same effect.
    What I am doing wrong?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Did you select a file folder in the section "Location and options for the HDR Files" near the top of the second tab? I don't know what you mean by "tries to locate the files" - what files is it trying ot locate? The error message says you can find more information in the log file. So, what does the log file say?

  • What makes Texture Shaded Becomes Too Dark? [Solved]

Strange. I have headlight set to Never, and I just found the other day that, if I go Window > Click to disable "Preview Light", it takes away the effect that I get when I add a DS light source (which suddenly makes viewing impossible) from the viewport, and all is good.

Like marble, before I discovered that trick I would just use Filament. But Filament (to me at least) crashes DS a lot with newer DS products, like Genesis 9 and products that go with it, like dForce Wet Style Curly Hair. Up until very recently, Filament was always my view of choice until render time.

Yeah, that's pretty normal which is why you use the preview light in those situations. Texture shaded mode does not support the same light as iray and so you cannot use it to confirm light placement and strength. The flip-side is that it is a lot quicker to work in for building the composition, moving, rotating and posing etc than iray.  You could try using filament maybe? I believe that is supposed to be somwehere in the middle although I haven't really used it much so don't know for sure. You'll have to tweak the settings to more closely match iray first tho - WPGuru has a Youtube video on that.

There is no "preview light". The menu, when enabled, tells DS to (try to) preview the scene lights; when disabled it uses the pseudo-headlamp instead.

That has confused me from Day One. I know you are right but in my head I'm switching the "Preview Light" on and off.

Even then there are dark areas - especially with dark textured floors - so it is impossible to see if the feet are grounded nicely. That's the only time I switch to Filament because it is easier to see things like that.

  • Daz3d gets frozen/stuck when I use the posing controls

Hi, I am puzzled by the behaviour of my Daz3d Studio. I have created a scene that uses the Gothic Style Room as environment G Female Gothic Style Room | Daz 3D and loaded two Genesis 8 figures with all the bells and whistles (Face Transfer faces, hair, clothes with textures, etc). Whenever I try to change the pose of any of the characters thrugh the control bars of the posing, the software gets stuck for SEVERAL seconds (up to one minute or more) and I cannot see any changes in the position of the anatomical part in real time.

The software seems to work just fine when I navigate the scene, even in Filament and Iray preview, with very fluid scrolling. However, as soon as I try to use the posing controllers to change any position or expression, the software gets stuck for ages....so I am a sitting duck at the moment, the software is completely crippled.

System specifications: Intel Core i9 12900 KF, 32 GB RAM, Nvidia GTX 4090 with 24 GB of VRAM, 2 TB SSD, Windows 11. Nvidia drivers version 536.40 (Geforce Game Ready).

I have read that sometimes this can be due to a plugin that is misbehaving (I have installed Face Transfer and Measure Metrics). I am also using an Aux Viewport. I have also read that sometimes you need to "authorize" Daz3d in your Nvidia software, but I am not sure about how I could do that.

Any ideas please? thanks a lot for your help!!!
